I speak Spanish, it is my mother tongue, I speak English also. So some of the wroewere really dificiult but the R in French is more difficult that the american English R.

Since I know English and Arabic and little Spanish, most of these are pretty easy especially that R cuz this sound is in Arabic as well. ;)

No, I've always thought french is like a simplified version of anglaise.

I don't think so. English has basically no grammar compared to French. Not only conjugation, but also punctuation and syntax. English has a lack of commas compared to French and it is because French has several ways to place words or group of words in a sentence. Sometimes it do not change the meaning and sometimes it do change the meaning (it is a latin "artifact.") So yeah, French syntax is way more complicated than English one. The only real English language complexity is the spelling / pronunciation of the words (but French is close to English, especially French dialects outside Paris.)

Can you speak English? I mean are you able to pronounce English words? If the answer is yes, you are able to speak French. English is way more guttural than French. French is half way between English and Spanish pronunciation.

You get used to it after about a month chill

+Nufot I am French Canadian and I am used to the French three defferent R. There isn't only one R sound in French, we have a R rolled with the tongue, a R rolled in the throad and the standard R. We also use the generic English R in anglicisms in Canada. So Spanish R are pretty easy to me.

It of course will depend on how much effort you put into learning. Daily practice is always key, patience and dedication. I'd say if you are to do your best on learning, 2 years will give you enough to hold a short conversation, then you'll start making mistakes and more mistakes but don't sweat it too much as it is the way of learning: from experience. Another couple of years will you time to find your weaknesses and try to correct them. The fifth year for sure you'll see yourself listening better and better as time goes by. The sixth year you'll perfect all the details you need, but don't fool yourself, learning a language is a never ending task. 6 is the magic number. Read books, listen music, speak to natives as much as you can, watch news, don't get frustrated and keep going even if it seems too hard :) á bientôt !
