Many languages we got genders, my mother tongue is Spanish so we got them too. And you were right it is not possible to talk without differencing masculine from feminine, though this makes Romance Languages polite and colorful.

yes: don't worry, i also was like 'wtf?! genders for colours?' but you should be able to get used to it in about 1-2 weeks wherever i put a (*) in it means that additional letters have to be added when it's feminine: Purple: violet(te) Blue: bleu(e) Green: vert(e) Yellow: jaune* no difference between mas. and fem. Orange: orange* again, no difference Red: rouge* Black: noir(e) Grey: gris(e) white: blanc(he) brown: marron* pink: rose

In English there is the concept of gender neutral language, when I write, I often make sure that I never make reference to a gender. This seems like an impossible thing to do with French, what do French speaking people think of this?

@00LilyOfTheValley00 there are 2 genres of words, male and female, like russian only we have male, female, and middle words. So if the noun is of, say, male genre, then the adjective has to be male, does that make sense?

@00LilyOfTheValley00 No absolutely not! Every words in French have got a specifique genre. And in this case the colours are adjectives so they have to be of the same genre and number of the noun they qualify. For example to say a blue shoe it's: une chaussure bleue. And the plural (two blue shoes) is: deux chaussures bleues. Hope it will help you^^
