One of the reasons for having fireworks early is the weather. As fall comes and then winter, it tends to rain more or snow early the further north you go. Plus it get colder. Early July is genuinely fine with weather. If it does rain or storm, it'll be done in an hour at most 3 hours. Unless it's a big storm that can least a few days. Just like rain storms, it's hard to predict blizzards or snow storms. It has happened where it snowed in early Nov in NYC which caused massive delays everywhere.

@@BrotherMunro your in the same latitude as northern canada for most of the us it's dark at a relatively early time on the 4th of july. here in north florida the main problem is it rains at least every other year on the night of the 4th

@@robertserafini560 And people call it "rain season" in the middle of hot summer. Last year we had a "drought", my mom lost couple of precious plants and a palm tree right next to the house. She is still recovering. I'm from Sarasota, where are you at man, up north ;-)?

@@BrotherMunro Hey, what do you mean by "a reasonable hour" man ;-)? You suppose to celebrate the whole day, not a certain "reasonable hour", when it is dark, or when the authorities say it is the time ;-P. I'm not the fan of fireworks anymore, my "condition" tells me to hit the deck or to lock myself in the closet ;-P. But I can cope with it once a year, although I'd rather be at the shooting range...celebrating ;-). Have a good one, my best !

On an aside, the date we picked, on July 4th, is what we call Independence Day. You might remember that little civil war back in the 1700's, and those pesky Colony's in the America's :) We celebrate the day we signed our Declaration of Independence, and we use fireworks to draw our memory to or maybe around a line from our National Anthem "and the rockets red glare, the bombs bursting in air, gave proof thru the night, that our Flag was still there.." That battle, which the Anthem memorializes forever, was historical, and the men who died keeping our Flag flying were innumerable. The dawn revealed piles and piles, all going to the flagstand, to fly the Flag high once again if it fell during the onslaught. It never fell. For that flag was a curse to the British commander, he vowed that it would fall before the night was over... There it was, jutting out, a stark reminder to the fleets of His Majesty. We shall not surrender. Never did I am happy to say.. :) Cheers

Oh I know why you celebrate independence on the 4th of July, and why you like pyrotechnics at it, it’s just unfortunate it’s the worst time of year to have fireworks 😅 The UK (although arguably more English than British) celebrates with fireworks on the 5th of November, commemorating the failure of Guy Fawkes & his plotters to blow up the King & Parliament (some of them did manage to blow themselves up though if I remember rightly)

American here and we do love fireworks. But every year something around me catches fire on July 4th. This last year it was a park a few blocks away. Enough smoke we had to go inside, fortunately nobody hurt no homes burned.

I hadn’t considered the safety angle! We have trouble even in late autumn with fireworks causing problems - although ‘Chinese lanterns’ are the most common culprit, they like wandering into oil refineries and other highly flammable things

The explanation text on the "invade" setting already suggests it does what you're asking for, namely concentrate on destroying enemy transports. Meanwhile, "protect" is supposed to concentrate on defending your own transports. Trouble is, they either don't work, or they do so offscreen via slanting the odds on non battle transport loss in that sea area. Either way, less than ideal, though of course the former is worse than the latter. Oh, and I fully agree that clicking on a task force should order your own task force to try to intercept the targeted task force. Similarly, the ability to order a port strike directly by clicking on the target port would indeed be very good.

Why does the USS Maine look like it has a pagoda tower in the first encounter with Le Nelson? I usually don't watch these series in order, as I enjoy all of your videos, but it looked funny to me. Have a great day.

You're not wrong about the fireworks on the 4th. For most of the country it works well enough, but when I lived in Alaska the show was at midnight and it was still disappointing. The town saved most of their fireworks budget for New Years, when we could shoot them off at like 4 pm.

At this point you could just order your ships to keep rudder amidships, full stop, and you's still win the battles just as easily, I'd wager! And well, France, dear France... what were you even thinking? Now you've met this fate, and Rome shall fall next. The utter domination of this campaign is something else, blatant AI cheating notwithstanding.

7:15 I haven't ever looked closely at a late game BB but the Océan's stats are interesting to me... 67,300t (for reference), top speed 27.5 knots, acceleration 0.1 knots/s, turning circle 468 m. Sluggish acceleration but turns on a dime?

Does anyone know the exact formula, or at least all the inputs to, army logistcis? From the speculation I've seen elsewhere, naval tonnage and power rating, as well as transport capacity, are all thought to play a part in increasing the rating. But provinces owned, especially non home provinces, and maybe army size, are thought to decrease the rating. And for the AI specifically, it has been suggested that naval tonnage includes both the acrive number from the poltics screen and the tonnage that is under repairs or construction. But again, I dont think I've seen anything offical, and instead only seen guesses based on observed values.
