Charlotte Herlong and her son, Michael, understand the personal side of sending flowers. As co-owners of Fredonia’s only flower shop, Fresh & Fancy Floral Design Studio, they’ve had over thirty years of creating custom flower arrangements for every occasion and milestone in their customers’ lives. But as lovely as their bouquets are, the financial pressures of the industry and changes in consumer purchasing are bearing down on the mother and son duo.
To give this beloved flower business a renewed sense of confidence, Deluxe brought in Amy Backman, owner of Spruce Flowers & Home, an independent shop in Minneapolis. The team from Deluxe reinvigorates the shop’s web presence, while Ty Pennington’s reno ideas add a little bit of ‘fresh’ and a whole lot of ‘fancy’. See how this transformation helps this longstanding business bloom once again.

I remember getting flowers from there, back in the 90s, and still remember Mike as a small boy. Glad to see it still up and running, 30 years later. And Michael, you are not alone, on your struggle. I started going blind, 15 years ago, due to macular degeneration, which had affect both of my eyes. I'm legally blind in my right eye, and fighting to keep what I still have in my left one. Keep the faith Kid, and you and mom, are in our thoughts and prayers.

The floral industry is a tough one - so is the small flower farm (or urban farm) business/industry. It would fun to see an urban/micro farm business (or honestly any farm) in the next season. Best of luck to this mother/son duo!!

I just went to their website and it's still operated by the wire service. What happened?

They are still under contract with the wire service, but don't worry they will be using their new website before you know it.
