Freya Forgives Kratos For Killing Her Son Baldur Scene (God of War Ragnarok) 4K ULTRA HD 

I love the fact that he purposely stops Atreus from attacking Freya because he knows what anger can do to someone. Kratos went from being the angriest boi in the room to the manager of anger management

Kratos' "apology" is the truest communication of how he is now. He acts how he thinks is best in the moment, always owning his actions and never looking back, but he's growing to understand that just because he *can* doesn't mean he should.

I believe part of Freya's grieving process is realizing that the son she loves so much, was simply a tool for Odin to have what he wants, and was never a son for her to love. For all we know, he could've lied to her and made her paranoid that Baldur could be killed, so that she can put that spell on him, giving Odin an un-killable tracking dog, to complete his mafia line-up of children for his cause, and his cause alone.

And he didn't have to make an apology video, true legend

I love Freya's arc through the game. She learns what it was like for Baldur to have the choice between life and death taken from him. She ends the game saying the exact same thing Baldur said to her.

”Atreus, you do not want this, calm your mind. She was our friend.” Brilliant writing

at this point wish folks would listen to Kratos. We must be better. Not just for ourselves but also for those who come after.

"No need to explain, not to me, not for that." The same words Freya told Kratos while she tended to Artreus while he was sick and Kratos apologised for loosing his temper when he found out her true. Used here when Kratos understands her anger.

I swear Freya is just an amazing character.

Can we appreciate both the writers of this game making the BEST female character out of many games AND the voice actress who KILLED, I mean MURDERED in cold blood this role? She gives me chills when Freya rages. Magnificent

She realized if she killed Kratos then the cycle starts all over again . Atreus would want revenge for his father .

The whole arc of Kratos helping Freya deal with her rage and thirst for revenge is such amazing storytelling. Kratos went from a rage filled monster who cared for nothing but revenge to someone trying to prevent others from repeating his mistakes

“I should not have robbed you of that choice” I just realized but kratos is cursed to never die by his own hand so he understands what he did is no better than what was done to him

The way these two fall off from their relationship and then gained respect and trust once more is so well done. Can't help but root for these two broken souls to unite.

Deep down, Freya knows that Baldur's death isn't entirely Kratos' fault. Kratos may have landed the death blow but it was Freya who twisted Baldur into the madman that he was. Deep down, she knows that Kratos was only trying to do what was best.

This is master class writing here. Two emotionally scarred people making amends towards each other and seeing one another in themselves. Top concent

Understandable on Freya being a grieving mother but her son did want to kill her Kratos did the only thing he could think off to save her

Freya is such a best female written character.

I’m glad that Freya is able to forgive Kratos. And that Kratos holds no ill will towards her for being so angry at him. They’re both such fantastic characters. Also side note. Freya’s actress really is going 110% on that scream in 1:23

Other than him killing her son, Kratos is kind of a good man for Freya. I hope they stick around a lot longer after the events of the story.

It was in this moment that she realized that Kratos was a true friend. He was protecting her from her son and he had NO choice in doing what he did. "She was our friend." What a GREAT story.

Fun fact: Kratos "No Need to Explain, Not to me, Not for that" is a throwback to what Freya said to kratos before kratos get home to get blade of chaos, where kratos want to apologize about him didn't trust Freya cause she's a goddess

Imagine if Freya killed Kratos with a wooden stick and then you proceed to play as her trying to kill Atreus and his friends because he wants to avenge his father.

Freya had such a fantastic character arc across these two games. From the kindly witch of the woods who nursed Atreus back to health, to grieving mother, to formidable warrior. She was done so well. The scene where she and Kratos unite again was so powerful and moving, and so true to her character. She was angry and grief stricken for the loss of her son, but also no doubt conflicted as Kratos had also saved her life. Even when it comes down to it, she can't kill in cold blood or even for vengeance. It's just not in her nature as portrayed in these games. Her kindness and compassion shine through. She was absolutely amazingly well written and I adored every moment she was on screen.

I'm so glad to be alive at this pinnacle moment of gaming history. What a fucking LEGENDARY GAME

Kratos calming down his son's rage is the most ironic thing ever

Freya is integral to Kratos' path on the prophecy board which (I think?) is him becoming the god of peace. After all peace is hard fought and angering a peaceful man is never a good idea (fits him well) so it makes sense that Kratos and Freya will be working towards this path in the next game.

It warms my heart seeing Kratos immediately stop Atreus from attacking Freya. He has seen the depravity of gods and the worst among them. And Freya doesn't deserve to be killed.

Ironically Kratos is probably one of the mpst emphatatic characters in recent years at this point. He has such intimate understanding of pain and suffering he is basically an empath for people like Frejya.

Everyone in this game did a phenomenal job with their mocap and voice acting, but WOW does Freya's actor knock it out of the park every single time.

5:59 The ATTENTION to detail is crazy on this game. Look at Kratos changing the way he holds the axe as he is getting ready for a fight after Freya saying that he might decide killing him now.

I read a comment that said Freya never wanted to kill Kratos. What she really wanted was to force him to kill her. I think that’s most obvious in the first scene of this video. As soon as she saw he wasn’t willing to kill her she stopped fighting

The way Freya looks away when kratos tells Atreus she was our friend. She's like fuck they were just about my only friends.

The more you control your angry and emotions the more powerful you become , this is what it is to be a true god of war. truly masterpiece ngl.

Freya's tragedy was already something that you could put together in 2018 but god does this game really make it clear that this girl's been put through every hell imaginable under Odin. The part of her freeing herself from him is amazing but so heartbreaking just watching her bottled pain from all of it come out. This game is so wonderful at examining these deeply traumatized characters, especially with Kratos, Freya, Sindri, and Thor.

lets face it if kratos did let balder kill fraya he would have turned around and fought kratos to the death anyways by killing him he saved her and thus reduced the number of people who died that day.

For anyone who didn't immediately pick up the line from Kratos @7:34, Freya said the exact same line in GoW 2018 when Atreus laid ill in her house after activating spartan rage. Hits different when you go back and rewatch the cutscene.

I had to go back I didn't realize Freya did the same thing the "No need to explain" part verbatim to him before he had to go to Hel. Meaning he carried those words and that moment for almost 3 years.

The best thing that the developers and writers did to Kratos storyline was that they didn’t recycle his killing spree mission from GOW 1-3, that was all about him and his revenge, a tragic story about brutal killings to every character that was innocent or wronged Kratos. GOW 4-5 is about his redemption, Kratos reconciling to himself and trying his best for the betterment of his son and to the people of Norse Pantheon, even it is kind of awkward after their bloody fight before.

When you realized that Freya has become much older until her hair had went grayed a bit So its like: Freya apologizes to Kratos for unable to kill him + finally understand his actual intention of why he protect, Sane with Kratos who apologized for robbing her freedom of choice back then.

The scene when she breaks the spell root, the pose she made was the same Kratos did when he loosened the wrappings covering his burnt scars from the chaos blades, and let them go away with the wind. The sense of freedom, of having such a great torment getting put behind you, I fucking love the story telling.

The voice acting in this game is amazing. You can really feel the emotion of each character

Man video games has gotten so far. Freya's expression when she says that a part of her is still angry and then the shift afterwards is so subtle and alive. This game is so full of these kind of subtle but powerful expressions.

This game feels like a movie, the emotions put on the scene is overwhelming and remarkable.

I don’t think any of us expected Freya to be a companion in the game, but I’m glad she is. Hopefully they give her more runic attacks in NG+.

7:27 I love how the roles are reversed and as Freya was about to apologize, Kratos said the exact same thing, Freya said in the prequel, when he was about to apologize for being rude to her, after finding out that she was a God. "No need to explain. Not to me. Not for that." It's the beginning of them starting over again🖤❤💒. Kratos and Freya is definitely going to be my new favorite couple 🙌🙌. If you think about it, it makes sense. Freya was literally the only God (well Goddess) that actually helped him and didn't have to manipulate him to do it. I knew from the moment Freya saved Atreus, that they were going to click like seatbelts. If that was Athena or anybody else, they would have let Atreus die and told him to "have faith." Remember, Kratos is a Spartan and if the Gods of Olympus had kept their promise, never betrayed him, and showed him respect, he would have actually had no problem working with them💯. So when Freya did something serious like that, there was no question about it. It's actually a beautiful story, a man who spent his entire life despising Gods, is building a chemistry to settle down with one. Opposites but very similar indeed🙌🙌🙌💙 Also that particular quote is something I can imagine Joel saying to Ellie had he gotten the chance in Last Of Us 2 @ 7:55

You can see the deep sigh of relief at the end as Kratos has a weight lifted off of his shoulders.
