Here are performers like Frida, bringing joy and loveliness into the world while cynics and critics and just mean people sit on their couches and judge them harshly... it's ok: Frida looks and sounds beautiful here and is loved 50 years later by millions...success IS the best revenge😔❤️❤️❤️ thank you for the music Anni Frid...Lange lange leve karleken

She was 38 when the 'Shine' album was recorded in early 1984. This performance was in September later that year. Her birthday is mid November so she is still 38 at this point. I much preferred her with her longer locks but agreed, she does look amazing and maybe not surprisingly, 'happier' than two years before.

I'm presently rediscovering this album. I find it even better than 'Something's going in', which was a huge succes for Frida. This wasn't, but it's really interesting, ahead of its time, loads of great melodies, and completely liberated singing from Frida. You can tell that she had so much more confindence during this recording process than with Phil Collins, and she sounds absolutely amazing. Her vocals in themselves make this album worth listening to.

Wow, that is amazing. That vocal performance. I really love the way she looks too. It's a shame Abba didn't proceed through this time because I think it would have been mind blowing but this video is pretty impressive anyway.

Yeah, I was going on 14 here. And her kids were 17 and 20 at the time this was made. So beautiful, it's hard to believe that she was just a little bit older here than I am now. I so remember those seersucker blazers with the industrial-strength shoulder pads. Thanks for stopping by!

A truly great album, and I still play it today. Digitally recorded in Paris in 1994 it was technically ahead of it's time, particularly the title track. A complete disaster for Frida though. Phil Collins refused to produce it so Steve Lillywhite was drafted in. It entered the UK album chart at number 67 where it stayed for one week and then disappeared without trace. Only one single was released in the UK - Shine - but like the album it wasn't promoted by the record company and was a commercial failure. A sad UK closure for Frida after so much success with ABBA. I guess a two year break after having a minor hit with I Know There's Something Going On in 1992 and the fact that ABBA's music had become unfashionable meant it was sadly never going to appeal to enough people to be a hit outside of Sweden and Norway.

@Leftatalbuquerque
@Leftatalbuquerque 2 года назад
@@ColinsCity He was simply busy with his exploding solo career. He was originally supposed to have done this album as well. Frida waited 2 years then made a decision to move ahead with Steve.
@adrianbarrett6651
@adrianbarrett6651 2 года назад
@@Leftatalbuquerque he had pulled away from the first album Something’s Going On even during promo. His duet with Frida Here We’ll Stay was re-recorded without him for the single release, with Frida singing both parts. Reading between the lines potentially because the album was a commercial flop and he didn’t want to be associated with it. Shine is a much more cohesive album, maybe because it wasn’t produced by Phil Collins.

Not forgetting Heart of the Country of course, the second single in the UK (also released on 12" single). I think Shine was overlooked by the public because they were put off by Collins' heavy handed production of Something's Going On. I love Shine. Very underrated.
