how is having a vampire in your roster to far out there in a game series that has a dinosaur wearing boxing gloves, a demon with serpents for an arm, literal devils and an angel, a creepy squid Xenomorph ninja, and a living training dummy? Why heck they can even put aliens in the game and it would fit right in and it would give Paul a new rival.
Good point, but Devil Jin and Kazuya have lasers, and Claudio fires energy arrows. Though I will admit that her having an energy meter in a Tekken game does seem off; Akuma has one but he is a guest character. Come to think of it maybe Eliza was made to see how a Street Fighter like move set would work in their engine so they could practice for Tekken x Street Fighter.
That's my take on it since Revolution. They made her to test how the fireball game would fit in the Tekken engine. Then, they expanded with someone who has all the classic shoto moves and some of that 3rd strike complexity (Akuma). Hopefully, this will give them more then enough data to make Tekken X SF hella dope.

@@gdadder I think that the reasoning for Heihachi throwing Kazuya off of a cliff when Kazuya was little was a retcon though, since from what I recall the original reasoning for why Hiehachi did it was to see if Kazuya was fit to lead the Mishima Zaibatsu in the future, but in Tekken 7 the reasoning was to see if Kazuya had the Devil Gene.

He's a very different take on the cliche Soviet character than Zangief, but seems more authentically Russian. I also love his goofy "some assembly required" ending.

Each main subsidiary would be fully owned by the main family; each of these would then also own several minor subsidiaries. The strength of the system came from the fact that each subsidiary would also have crisscrossed holdings in the other company's subsidiaries; on the outside everything looks more or less legit, but on the inside everything is owned by the family in the end and hostile takeovers are basically impossible. Sadly for our love of the term, all Zaibatsus were dismantled after WWII during American occupation. Originally all the newly independent companies struggled, until middle management took over. This is considered to be one of the core instigators of the "Japanese Economic Miracle", the economic boom that lasted from the 1960s to the start of the 90s. With middle management now in charge, the people at the head of the companies were no longer self-interested oligarchs but competent savvy businessmen (that's the idea anyways). This led to the creation of a new system. Dubbed Keiretsu (lit. _system, series, grouping of enterprises, order of succession_), instead of a vertical monopoly companies were arranged in loose sets of business relationships. Goofy Paul is awesome. You can take away his title, his dojo, his dignity, make all the failed backflip jokes you want, because at the end of the day, Phoenix Smasher is still the best move in the game.

To answer Matt's question why Kazumi is young; It's because Kazumi died young. She only appears in flashbacks in the story. If only we had encyclopedia for fighting games to educate little Matt.
