This game exists in a weird space now, where it easily could've been bad, but it's just good enough that everyone is okay with it. It wasn't overhyped, it didn't have any crippling problems, and now everyone's just satisfied with it I guess. It's refreshing.
It was the shock of being given the most visually pleasing fighter of all time followed by a transition from perfect 2D to awkward 3D models that were still in development. Given SNK's financial situation at the time though it was inevitable
It obviously doesn't look top tier, but people are idiots also for endlessly crappy on it more than it deserves. The graphics aren't bad, it just doesn't have a standout art style to make it look special. People who enjoy PLAYING games, should be able to look through the sub par graphics in favor of gameplay which is awesome.
It certainly doesn't look like garbage. But it also definitely doesn't look more worth playing than the 6 or so amazing competitors of this game. KOF14 looks okay, while all of its competitors are stellar. To me, it's hard to justify devoting time to this instead of: 1. Killer Instinct 2. SFV 3. MKX 4. Guilty Gear Xrd 5. Tekken (7 is soon!) 6. Skullgirls
I wish I lived in a world where all fighting game fans were excited about all fighting game releases, regardless of whether or not they personally wanted to play them. Any new fighting game is a victory for the genre.
I want a fighting game character that never stops shrieking. Attacks would give them different volumes and intonations on the scream, but it never stops until the character is KO'd.

I heard them mention KOF in other Friday Night Fisticuffs so I searched for it on their channel... ...It is now my favourite fighting game of all time. This coming from someone who plays SF, MK and Guilty Gear
eh thats always been the charm to raging storm, its by far the best super in the game, hits hard goes far and is super safe from start to finish, but you need to earn that shit. they dont just give it to you on a shinku or orochinaga input no you have to struggle and dedicate your self to making it come out, its the fine line that separated geese mains and scrubs
+Lord Dio! No, it's never really been that different from other supers in KOF. It was only OP in Fatal Fury then in KOF it's good, but never near the best. The motion in the first place wasn't even because of how good it was in the first place, the devs even admitted they just didn't want players to find it easily.

They didn't figure a lot of things out. I've been watching loads of KOF14 for months now. And they didn't do half of anything. Wish they'd learn it on their own first, then make another video. I don't think they did a climax from any character.
Actually she's been lurking in the background of the KOF universe for awhile. Apparently she's kinda based on one of Kim's students who appeared in like two endings and was referenced by Chae Lim and was even supposed to replace Mai in Fatal Fury 3 until they realized replacing Mai is the worst idea ever. I SWEAR I saw her on some promotional material before her pachinko apperance...but I might just have that confused with genderswapped Terry Bogard porn. I KNOW I saw porn of her and said "I wish she was actually a KOF character!"
+Soliduz Znake all the pachinko a did was keep them alive. The reason they're making games again is because some Chinese company bought them. Which reminds me, there's been no word on that KOF live action drama.
I think this is just me, but after looking at other fighting games graphics style, i think what we have here in kof xiv, actually fits kof, its like a 90s arcade game shifted into 3d, if they are ever going to make more they should stick to this "style", i think it really fits kof
oh man the game actually looks pretty good. I'm not fuckin around, i'm actually impressed considering what i've heard non-stop from other people, it looks good. especially if it is also as i heard, their first real attempt to transition to a 3D pipeline because sprites are pretty but eat a lot of money they dont quite have.

I've been having fun and I just came in to comment on how big and jiggly Leona's ballistics are know. She's always been one of my fave female fighters in the series but dayum. They can rival Mai's.
In terms of the story, Matt, a few other characters in KOF know about Verse; Saisyu tells Kyo and his teammates about him, Tung knows about him because of Shun'ei having part of his power, Nakoruru, Muimui, and Love Heart are all drawn from their worlds to the present to face Verse, etc. But yeah, in game there isn't much story about Verse, which leaves SNK's website for KOF 14 to fill in the blanks
Can't wait for all the comments from SRK forum babies about how this game looks even though it's better than Street Fighter V in every way minus graphics, which even that's a stretch considering how hideous some characters look in SFV.
To be fair, Street Fighter V's aesthetic is god damn terrible. I was going to say "too", but this doesn't look awful, necessarily; it just looks fucking boring, which is kind of weird for an SNK game.
Didn't stop Geese from somehow coming back in a non-dream match KOF. Or Mature and Vice from somehow coming back after being TORN TO PIECES by Iori mid-Blood Riot.

Krizalid from '99 on level 8 difficulty is so fucking hard to beat. I would agree with Orochi from '97, but Igniz from 2001 and Magaki from XI were a lot more difficult to deal with.
I really like the mindset of "let me do the cool thing" and letting the other player get a few good hits in just for the sake of showing off the animations. These guys were true connoisseur of the worst and the best.

Holy...! That is an awesome reference to story in Fatal Fury 3!! Geese gets his hands on these ultimate scrolls one gives someone immortality, but the fact that Verse is mentioned in those scrolls means that this game is also a sort of sequel to Fatal Fury 3 and prequel to Garou Mark of the Wolves.
