Here's a link to the iceberg: docs.google.com/document/d/1iflco5WMhd_DAJ6w7ZlKDwWyndhb-jHiqmjeUOgRmS8/edit?usp=sharing I will edit it to add the stuff I missed👍 To the people asking me to add stuff to the iceberg, PLEASE CHECK THE ICEBERG BEFORE ASKING. A lot of people have been asking me over and over to add stuff like Naxinet to the iceberg when they're already there.
It's funny how people say FNF is a kids game when-- -Pico is from a classic newgrounds game about a school shooting -promotional art shows BF holding a condom -both BF and GF despite their appearances are canonically 19 -Mommy Mearest is sexualized in almost the same way as the Lust OC is -when you lose the game Boyfriend literally has blueballs
@@moldysourlemons if someone ever tries to prove that a media is for children by using the art style as an argument simply tell him that family guy exists Edit: I totally forgot South Park and happy tree friends
The base game on Newgrounds is literally rated T for Teen audiences and the losing animation has BF's blue balls. I personally don't like Sakuroma but the people telling Retro that "FNF is for kids!!1!" and trying to cancel him for it is sad
@@beadsontotes767 It was the biggest regrets of my life when I saw it when I was young. I was clueless about HTF and I probably got scarred when I saw the gory scenes. That’s why parents should pay attention to their children instead of just slapping an iPad to their faces to console them. Smh
Fun fact: There’s an account on Twitter that tallies up the days where someone doesn’t get into drama in the FNF community *The counter has never gone above 3* Update: Bruh how’d it get to 7 💀
For me, the main issue is childrenization (That's a word now) FNF was childrenized, as most games are, but to a heavy extent I'm certain that 90% of the FNF community doesn't remember that the game wasn't really intended for children in the first place. And now it's overrun. I just avoid most fandoms cause i don't want or need to get involved, Older people getting mad at children for playing a game they didn't even know was intended for a mature audience (sexually suggestive audience, specifically).
@@nachito.. And half the time the children dont even know it was intended for 16+ (ish) people. It's always "Oh its a 2d animation! Adults dont like that stuff, must be a kids' game"
@PermaFox -“It's always "Oh its a 2d animation! Adults dont like that stuff, must be a kids' game"” …Yeah, you can thank the previous CEO of Didney, Bob Chapek for that glorious ideology.
@Ꮥ𐒅𝝰ḑ⚈ᙎᏕ𝓺𝒖𝝰ḑ The Undertale fandom then was pretty much the same as the FNF fandom is now: a complete dumpster fire. By the time Deltarune released, however, the fandom was a lot less toxic and much calmer. I'm hoping the FNF fandom calms down, too
The communitygame one is funny, when kolsan got modders to go against him is the day cg stopped covering oc mods due to them not wanting him to play it so he went on to cover ip based mods from those who were still cool with him. This started overshadowing oc mods and the other fnf channels took notice and went to cover whatever cg was covering. Months later those modders who were against him wanted him to play their mods again and started whining about it.
I need to correct you on the Sky controversy. The age of sky in the BBPanzu mod is 13 because he thought Sky was a self-insert OC, when on the TikTok page she was actually listed as 19 and the owner of sky was 14. The owner then tried to quell the R34 of Sky by saying "She is 1, but looks 19" which is kinda stupid. There is also the fact that people find the variation of Sky known as SkyBlue problematic because it is based on a character made by a minor (in my opinion that is pretty shaky reasoning). Also with the /v/tan mod, they did include Lolicon in the game files SPECIFICALLY to get it deleted from GameBanana. The mod owner didn't want it on GameBanana so he took drastic measures
Normal people trying to get illegally uploaded games taken down: *idk cease and desist* /v/tan: "Lol let's put stuff in there specifically to get it taken down if it does end up on there"
@@kirbythegameryt9364 A cease and desist order against someone on the mod team for a free to download mod of an open source rhythm game. I don't think I have to say anything else to explain why a cease and desist order wouldn't be possible. Even if it were legally possible to do then it would be highly impractical to do as it would nto be worth the time or money spent on lawyers and court proceedings. What was done was ultimately a much easier way to achieve what they wanted because nothing legally would need to be involved, the creator got what they wished, and it sent a message to the mod team to not upload this shit to GameBanana. This was after V1 was uploaded
im honestly glad spete has gone downhill, he got demonetized for his gross behavior and thus can no longer make profit from his video against me over misunderstandings before i became an adult. He profited off my mental health and now all this ad rev is gone. It's a satisfying ending, but it's also depressing seeing how downhill fnf has began. People are tense, it sucks. I'm at the backburner here away from the community but i'm still looking forward to the base game. It's like people can't either be sane or just be friends anymore. great video, looking forward to new things still c:
It's a real shame that all these controversies have to ruin genuinely good indie content. I wish people could just get the hell along and not be degenerates, geez.
This is what happens when the release of your game takes forever and people create tons of mods to fill the hole. You get all these egos together acting like they’re actually developing the game itself
Last I checked, the only Sonic-related mod not to suffer a grooming controversy was "vs Bench Tails". I don't know if that's still true, but it was at the time, and it was hilarious.
Retrospecter had the right idea. The community do have too many kids, which actually leads to multiple different problems other than what happened to his mod. Allegations are handled horribly a lot of the time due to emotional immaturity, and the fanbase is highly vulnerable to groomers. Although, gatekeeping the fanbase from kids is impossible at this stage, since FNF is pretty much a part of the 2nd wave of Elsagate, whether anyone wants it or not.
Update on Innuendo: he recently (last week) had been pointed out for being realy creepy to his gf and leaving her depressed. He refused to make a response saying in his discord that "nothing of this is real". On the next day he made an okay response and also said he takes responsability of the end of Lullaby mod
As someone who knows almost of these dramas..oh boy time to go back to the darkest places from my memories. but..aside from that,i loved watching your content! :D
the fnf drama timeline made me remember a bit half life's lore where at the beginning everthing looks normal but then due to a experiment (in that case some people) a huge disaster happened and everthing is ruined and this disaster is called unforeseen consequences
I remember the Revie situation. I, to this day, believe that the allegations against Revie were either greatly exaggerated or just outright false due to a lot of dirt coming out about RightburstUltra and his weird hateboner towards her
I wish there was clear answer, during the time people work at death threats because of them liking faker which I do not agree with because they could’ve just separated faker/EXE from revie. Luckily all of that stuff has died down and you can freely like faker all you want…
Vs. Sonic.Exe probably has the worst development team ever. Not only did they try to slander and cancel others, they tried to ruin the image of Divide (a worker on the mod who died in his sleep due to cancer) they tried portraying him as a bad person knowing he would not be able to defend himself
It's unbelievable how a game that hasn't even been 5 years since realeased has so many controversies that it has to be directed by an Iceberg video I don't know man I wish to go back in time with an urge to stop disaster from unfolding
Madness Combat also had a drama iceberg, but if I recall it wasn't as much as this (though the video covering the iceberg in question was over 50 minutes long)
Nah it's actually pretty normal for a fanbase to have controversies after a a long period of their existence but what should be scaring you is the fact that it got an iceberg so ridiculously filled with controversy when the game is barely more than 2 years old like holy crap they really speedran it💀
@@petexy2989 Yeah, that's pretty accurate. One of the Spanish channels that covered the drama was Ecuadorean, but there were more. That Expertfloo guy does have a link to Chip's deleted thread in his video description so you could technically find other replies to the thread if you know how to look for it. Fun fact, Expertfloo is still looking to pay 50 dollars for anyone that screenshots Chip's main thread, the guy really wants to archive this whole history. He'll pay extra if they include more ss.
This is why I absolutely despise the fandom. Too many children and controversies. Hopefully the rest of 2023 is goated and that we can recover from this like it never happened.
I feel like an idiot for having defended InfiniteJr along with many others, while the people who were accusing him were right in the end. When I learnt of what Infinite did to someone I know from the server in a GC, I realised why he truly is irredeemable. Infinite JR is a name which should be held in high infamy within the FNF community with names like Mayz, Jesterfrog and many others.
hey, don't worry pal! we all make mistakes after all. i remembered that back on mid-2022, I was in a server where Infinite was there. while we didn't exactly talked much to each other, he didn't seemed that bad. i thought he was a nice guy trying to change, and people were just making another Revie situation all over again. tbh, i don't know what to think anymore about him.
I regret tolerating a few of his sketchy behaviors even while he was initially defendable. No wonder people got tired of him. Dude did so much for me and to hear he crossed that line, it broke me. And now I have to live with the fact his likeness is stuck in my goddamn passion project now. He deserves no sympathy at all.
The fact he had manipulated us this much only to stab us behind our backs at the last moment for going after Dee is honestly horrible, I trusted his arse. Like I've said, his name deserves to be held in the same, infamous regards as someone like Jesterfrog or The_Mayz.
@@RegentPandora I remember names like Gamereel, Eggs on RU-vid, Thisisnice (ect) on there. like I said previously, I didn't interacted much with it. (or at least, I wasn't such an important member lol-) but I’m pretty sure Dee was on there too. but wait, didn't the server got deleted/closed?
I prob would have changed some things around but then again I knew almost everything on here. You should have also mentioned that Revie was proven innocent, and added the Rightburst drama that started at the beginning of this year, those were two pretty big things imo.
What was shown of what aetherdx did is barely the top of it's own iceberg, she not only is a groomer, but she was basically /funkg/'s supervillain, always lurking and striking them on their weak spots, she also tried to come back as grimblus, which quickly became a very popular coder for /funkg/ mods due to their quick work phasing, it was eventually found out that they were the same person and as a result she leaked all of the mods she worked on (vs afton v2, convict, etc), at the same time she also pretty much stole the identity of an anon called "caponeanon" on the thread saying it was her who was behind the name, but after some research and contacting with the real caponeanon things got cleared up. Everything ended after she made a doccument apologizing and admitting everyting she has done and finally getting the hell out of the community for good.
I was in the FNF community basically during the entirety of 2021, then left because I had simply lost interest. Seeing this almost 3 years later, man... I didn't know there was so much controversies around the mod devs. I mean, some of these already existed when I was into Friday Night Funkin' (like the sky controversy), but why are there SO MANY of them? The further down the iceberg, the more I see mods I used to enjoy a lot. That just makes me sad, combined with the fact that the original game has been the same since week 7.
I know this is a little off-topic, but it’s funny how people can make fun of straight people, but the moment there’s a funny joke mod about the LGBTQ community, it’s bigoted
Unsure if commenters can mention some stuff you missed, being big drama or small drama, but I do have something. At 18:44 I was reminded of something. Seeing golden apple makes me kinda sad because the guy that voiced most of the characters turned out to be a weirdo. Don’t get me wrong, the mod itself is good, i just find it really awful that he’s probably still around working on stuff and actually getting defended. Meaning there’s still people who support him and claim he hasn’t done anything. He actually did post a brief “apology”, but it was just a quick thing saying “oh yeah I have autism sorry if I’m weird”… I mean no harm towards the community and the mod itself, though. Just wanted to mention this because this specific entry reminded me of that.
Christ... I'm glad that I've basically dug myself into my own little corner of the internet at this point. Having to witness all of this happening before your very eyes must've been torture for the community as a whole
Just curious but why wasn’t mirth/Komodochi talked about? A lot of the things she did were truthfully sickening, in addition to her victim blaming and attempting to say everyone who thinks she is a pedo is one themselves.
Watching this a year later and wow what a trip. Been in this community since right before the official week 2 update and so much has happened, it was surreal to hear situations from years ago i witnessed being talked about. I must say the community feels like its been in a sort of renaissance since the recent update and i at least feel like theres been a considerable decline in controversies, which is awesome. Kinda dissappointed not everything listed was talked about because i genuinely learned some stuff here, and would love to hear about some of them if its not a bother. Ive sorta pieced together what happened with communitygame from the comment section but any legit explanation would be greatly appreciated, same for shannon sunday and the mayz though i have knowledge of them. Shannon Sunday i was there for and legit hurt by, they were a creator i followed and enjoyed and what happened was just the start to the warzone of degeneracy the fandom would become, but any additional stuff i may have missed would be good to hear about. I know some of what happened with the mayz and i never liked them or their mod, i always thought the art and music for sns was trash and wi was superior, but i havent looked into the situation for a while. I know squat about stickybm, kodomodachi, diffraktor, nleeboy, moro, cyndaquilDAC or ceramicskinstudios, so information on them would also be very appreciated. Again i know this video is old and my comment is long as is, but any more information would be a good read and i just dont think id be up to dig myself otherwise lol. Anyways, good vid, reminded me a lot how far the fandom has come and what its endured.
It's absolutely insane how a game like FNF, where the protagonist's primary goal is to have sex, featuring designs like Girlfriend and Mommy Mearest, has acquired a fanbase that convulses violently at any hint of sexual content.
its so weird hearing about all this in retrospect as someone who got into fnf in 2020 when the demo came out and witnessed all of it save for more recent ones firsthand. rip to everyone else but if i was an fnf modder i would just be normal.
Moral of the story: A fool is known by it's voice A wise is known by it's silence And second moral: be mindful of you gonna say on discord and Twitter :)
About the retrospecter mod, it's still in development currently with many of the team distancing themselves from the fandom. The creator even says that he isn't gonna quit and is still working on it despite the fact that the mod will never be fully complete and only part 2 will be finished when it is. Also, there was also the time where the 1.5 IPU update went under fire when an early build of the mod leaked on youtube weeks before the release window and the team had to slightly rush the project because of that. Months later, the leaker got exposed quickly and soon the feud died off but the damage was already done.
17:37 correction, Funky Friday already had micro-transactions way before gamefarm bought it. gamefam bought Funky Friday in May of 2022, and funky friday added micro-transactions the same year it was made. Also, purssuing legal action towards funky friday was mostly a joke, and likely wasn't going to happen
This entire video is the reson why ppl are leaving the FNF community and it’s so sad it just explains how toxic the community is and it all started with amor
It's weird being on an iceberg, but from a certain standpoint I could understand it, I did hurt a lot of people. That being said, I deleted my Twitter after the apology because I felt it was the right thing to do, getting me away from social media. I didn't mean for that action to be portrayed as "she didn't mean her apology", not that you said that, but it was just to help me further. I still stand by what I said in my main apology, though. Good video.
9:58 RetroSpecter later on July of 2022 said that he deleted that tweet because he wasn't thinking straight when he wanted to "push the boundaries". He said that Sakuroma's week will have non-explicit sexual content/SFW content. Also, he mentioned the following: "I'd also appreciate it if people stopped blaming minors as a whole for the takedown when it was like 1 small group who weren't expecting a sexually-themed bonus OC with no disclaimer that could easily catch anyone off guard. I get the game has mature themes but warnings are nice."
the fnf community has seemed to chill with the controversy, it seems everyone who was bad has left or was tossed out, so i hope the community can be seen as less toxic soon!
Lmao the real toxic people are the ones policing what people do on the internet. Like for Christ’s sake, let somebody say what they wanna say if it’s not physically hurting anybody. Creative freedom as well
Okay yes lots of stuff has happened, from saying "offensive" curse words, to some "certain" people being messed up in the head. And yes it's still going on today, but can't we just see the positive things that goes on, like the dedication the mods have like their art styles, their unique game mechanics, and most importantly their awesome tracks. I don't know why people just see the bad in FNF, but can we at least try to leave all the bad stuff in the past and focus on the possibilities in the future?
Same like I dont generally care about most of the people who developed the mods but I acknowledge their work and thank them deeply for that. I'm in it for the tracks and art.
If we would actively kick out children, and make an effort to shut the people up that complain about an “offensive slur” being said or joked about, we could possibly redeem the community into a chill one
@@Ja_Skullitheres a major problem…….Twitter. If FNF stayed on Newgrounds then everything would be normal, but unfortunately Theres a huge FNF Twitter community so cleaning up the fandom is basically impossible
Now that we mention that there was a mod about Ukraine and Russia, there is a mod that legit has Ronnie mcnutt’s suicide and other suicides as the main content for the mod
At least we got Eminem Vs Hitler mod, which is still in development, and is based on a photoshopped image of, of course, eminem and hitler, and not based on something legit that happened
When I tell you I audibly shouted when you got to the rageminer accusations. It's absolutely deplorable that someone would harass them to that extent, rageminer has always been such a kind and positive figure to their community they did not deserve that in the slightest.
Forgot mmll a mod about people committing su**ide and cancer rip to Ronnie mcnutt rip to gleb korblev rip to shuiaby aslam rip to Technoblade rip to rina palenkova 🕊
That I know, Gamefam doesnt own Funky Friday, more than a year ago we got news that Funky Friday would do a collaboration with Gamefam, and the Sonic event was what became this collaboration. That I know Gamefam never bought funky friday
I don’t follow FNF all that well so interesting to learn about a lot of these. Here’s some of my thoughts on a few of them. *Kickstarter:* I never understood the “it’s taking to long to make the game” argument. Games are not easy to make. Just look at the time it took from Week 5 to Week 6’s base game to release. I get wanting more updated from the dev team (especially if you backed it) but aside from that this drama just feels unnecessary. *Clickbait Ads:* It still baffles me how RU-vid allows these ads but don’t you dare say fu*k or you’re getting demonetized. Ads, especially for mobile games, have gone extremely downhill as a whole. There’s also the issue of FNF being targeted towards a younger audience when it’s name in itself is an innuendo but that’s a topic for another day *Agoti:* big oof. Gotta love when people excuse their homophobia by using RPing as their OC as an excuse like OCs aren’t an extension of oneself most of the time *Spete:* ah Spete. I’m more aware about his other controversies but regardless I’m convinced the only reason he got as popular as he did was cause of all the drama he started and the R34 thumbnails. Only good thing to come out of him imo was showing another RU-vidr drove an artist off Twitter for no reason (though I hate using him as evidence there’s luckily more so I don’t have to utter his name) *RetroSpecter:* not so much about the mod but I never understood those who say FNF is a “kids game”. Why is it whenever there’s a game meant for an older audience it’s tainted with kids? *Funky Friday:* I find this situation a bit ironic mostly cause I recall SEGA taking down a Sonic fangame of Roblox. While I’m unsure how strong the FNF Devs legal team is it would be a great twist to have them take this down. *Ukraine vs Russia:* Who thought this was a good idea? Like why? Oddly enough I’m kinda not shocked there’s so many controversy. Most of these seem to be related to mods more so than the actual games which often involve interpersonal relationships which 8 times out of 10 ends poorly. Obviously the majority of the community is probably just your everyday joe though as always the 1% that’s actually bad are the most vocal.
In regards of the /v/mod i can add a little bit of context cuz i lurked funkg for a long time. The main reason why the shock comic was there was because an user was reposting the mod in different platforms, so adding that was there to hopefully get him banned(along on including week 7 for good measure, but apperently it didn't get him banned), as for why the virus alert? Apperently it was one button to the mod redirected to an imgur link, because of the way kage engine works.
I’m not usually one for fandom controversy but holy shit the FNF fandom has gone through hell. Also I love how Abbi is in the abyss. The Omori fandom is great
The fact that days before this video was release, someone tried to make a Daisy Destruction Mod, of course it was taken down both the proyect and the twitter page.
Great video! I admire the fact that you go into every controversy unbiased and throughly try to explain them in as little time as possible Also I do wanna point out the stuff I found on LimeLazy wasn’t really part of a “private investigation” per say, the information was handed to me by the creator of the original video, radical. He had been part of the friend group that both Squizzle and LimeLazy were in for a while so he had witnessed his shticks for a good long while by now lol 🤧
