Friday Night Videos (later becoming Friday Night and then Late Friday) is an American music video show that was broadcast on NBC from July 29, 1983, to May 24, 2002. It was the network's attempt to capitalize on the emerging popularity of music videos as seen on MTV.

Nothing like growing up in the 80’s. Life was simpler. Music, movies & television were at their zenith! We had technology but weren’t dependent on it. We played outside all day, rented a VHS from the corner video store and played Nintendo at night! I wouldn’t trade those days for anything. Glad I was able to experience the 80’s first hand, and be able to grab a piece of nostalgia anytime I want to thanks to videos like this.

I grew up in the 80s (Class of 85) and I like look back at those times to realize how much better my life is now. The 21st Century has really become what I had been dreaming of as a child.

I was 13 years old in 83. I remember watching FNV on a huge tube TV that was a large piece of furniture that sat in our living room after spending all my money at Aladin´s castle at the local mall. Or after seeing a movie in an actual movie theater. Such a simple word for a teen-age boy to grow up in vs. modern times. Thanks for the memories! 80s FOREVER!

80s. No decade like it before, has been and will be none after. What a ride. Looking back, I have no idea how the world got to here from there. Talk about societal devolution. As for these videos, thank you for the upload!!!

I was 5 then, too! I remember I got to watch Friday Night Videos with my mom, who would sometimes bring the TV out on the step while my younger siblings and I would play in the yard (it was a 13" zenith and when I was 5 we lived in southern Arizona, so sometimes my mom would let us stay up late to play when it was cool outside). One of my funniest memories about Friday Night Videos is when Billy Idol Eyes Without A Face came on and my mom was like "woah, mom, look at this guy!" and then they were all "ohh he's cute.." and then my grandma (43) said she wanted to pinch his butt in those leather pants 😹

That was a great edit out of the black & white of the Beatles I Want to Hold Your Hand from 1964 into the B&W of 1983 The Police with Every Breath You Take. Music, & music fans need to appreciate and know their music history and appreciate that the Bug Bang started here and everyone since and still owes them a debt of gratitude.

This is great Mone! That animation at the start is the best! The first vid by The Doors was obviously shot long before MTV and it was know as a promo vid. I grew up loving The Doors as a teen, and the Oliver Stone movie came around at the time. 14:43 This Levi's Jeans ad is SICK. At college it took about 30 seconds to render a single frame of CG animation in the early 90's. I wonder how long it took to make this in 83??? 23:50 I love Def Leppard. Some of my earliest memories were hearing them and VH on the radio. 28:00 When "uppers" were legal. It takes a looonge time to come down from those. 30:00 Eddie Grant was huge. This is a cool little nugget of his heyday. This is my first time to see another of his vids. Great Stuff Mone keep it up mate.

These videos need some de-hiss processing before the input to digital transfer. I'd pass my VCR audio through a stereo which could do it, but anything with Dolby NR should help. These tapes must be recorded at 6 hour SLP for that much hiss.
