Good to see you back! One take videos and hard but when you can do them they do relieve a lot of stress. Well done sir! Also, yay! Audiobooks! They’re the best.
Happy to hear you're enjoying 'The Left Hand of Darkness'. I've so far only read 'The Dispossessed' by her, but really enjoyed it. So I'm looking forward to read her other books in that universe. I was really sad when I heard she passed. I'm looking forward to getting to Lois McMaster Bujold's full novels. I've so far just read the first 2 novellas in Penric and Desdemona series. I saw that was the chronological order. Rachel (kalanadi) said it was best to start out with the trilogy, but at that point I'd already started the novellas, so...
Yeah, those Shattered Sands covers are beautiful! Added the first one to my list, I'm doing a fantasy month right now and I've realized that I need to read more fantasy regularly :)
Bujold is a fantastic writer. I have read and listened to everything she has written. I know what you mean about Cazaril - his weariness is a palpable thing and practically throbs off the page. Paladin of Souls is the companion novel and follows the story of Ista. It too is excellent. There is also a series of short stories that follow a character named Penric. I love these too. Bujold creates such engaging characters and interesting stories. I love the Bastard ...if only he was real!
Midnight Arcade sounds really interesting! This year I'm planning to read Mistborn or The Way of Kings. I want to read at least one Brandon Sanderson book this year, and my friend recommended I start with one of these two.
I always want to continue the mistborn series, but sometimes I get intimidated by how long they are and I agree sometimes his books are hard to get into. -Mel
I like how you described _The Left Hand of Darkness_ as a product of great thoughtfulness and consideration. I really should read it one of these days 😅
Yay for Friday Reads and for one take videos. Sounds like you have a great set of books that you are working on. I'm really curious about The Curse of the Chalion, glad to hear you are enjoying it and that the narrator for the audiobook is doing a great job. Happy Reading!
He lives! I love casual videos like this. Thanks for explaining a bit about that Le Guin book. I've never had a clue what it was about. And I've heard the same thing about the Sanderson book as well. Darn it! I hope things improve. We all waited SO LONG!
I want to read Blood Sand and Blood Upon The Sand by Bradley P. Beaulieu. These two Books sounds really good to me. I also have Ursula K. LeGuin Books on my list to read. She is one of my favorite Authors. I use to read her books when I was younger. I love your Star Trek Display on your Top Shelf Of your Book Case. I too have some Star Trek - Star Wars Stuff on my Book Case as well. I really enjoyed this Video. I like the way you did this Video. Happy Reading 📚📖🔰
Linda Klinedinst working on the Star Trek display. There will be more to show as I build the model kits. Twelve Kings in Sharakhai was so good that I've no doubt the next two will be fantastic.
The Left Hand of Darkness sounds really intriguing. I’ve never read any of her work before...would you say that this book is a good place to start with her works? Great to see a Friday Reads video from you...hopefully you will continue to do them! And oooh Midnight Arcade sounds super cool! I love Choose Your Own Adventures!
Holy cow, you have a face! I actually ordered The Left Hand of Darkness earlier today because I've never read any Le Guin and I wanted to. You should do more of these!
I had never heard of Bradley P. Beaulieu before now. But after watching your vid right before going to sleep, I looked him up and began reading a sample of "Twelve Kings". It was so vivid! I usually don't do impulse buys, but it was on sale for $2.99 on Kindle. Thanks for the rec. (And it's great to see you back.)
