Big Ambitions continues and it's time. Time for something we've been waiting for. Time to treat Bernard to an object that he's been lacking for a long time. A FRIDGE! A glorious, lovely, shiny new fridge, where we can keep food fresher for longer!
Granted this takes a while, partly because we need some money and partly because we can't find anywhere that sells a fridge, but in the end Bernard gets his reward.
We also do some good work in the store! We buy some more rails, add more products to the product range, and there's even a spot of decorating too!
However the big change in the store is the hiring of staff members to help us out! After a bit of muddling around with recruitment agencies and attending a ten hour business management course we're able to get our first employees, which will free Bernard up to go and do other bits and bobs.
NOTE: This is the early access version of the game.

Your bank balance is tiny, but your ambitions are big.
With a little help from your uncle, you get an apartment and your first job. But then it's up to you to achieve success and take over New York City any way you like.
Slowly build multiple small businesses, grow them into huge corporations, or carve your own unique path - the possibilities are limitless in this vast business sandbox. You've never played anything like this!
Go from a small apartment and public transport to luxury suites, fast cars and designer furniture. Put your money into investment funds and real estate. Succeed, fail, rebuild. But remember to take care of yourself, sleep and stay happy on your rise to the top.
Go from nothing to the most prominent tycoon in New York. Start a business, work smart, make it thrive and enjoy your life. How do you want to be successful? How far can you push it? How long can you make it last?
Start your own gift shop, supermarket, coffee shop, law firm, clothing store, liquor store, florist, and more. You decide what success is - whether it’s a single shop, a chain of fast-food restaurants, a huge corporation, or making millions developing websites.
Take out a loan, rent a building, design the logo, renovate the store, get stock, manage your money, hire staff, and build your infrastructure. Soon, you may have to start importing products from the harbour and distributing them through a network of warehouses.
A bigger business means managers. Hire HR Managers, Logistics Managers, and Purchasing Agents. They all need desks and computers, so you’ll need a fancy headquarters.
Need a delivery truck? Travel to a dealer and buy one. Need food? Go to a supermarket, but make sure you have a refrigerator at home. Big Ambitions is a life sim where your character has to physically interact with the world to survive and succeed.
Enter any building in New York and buy it. Go from a small apartment to a dream penthouse in midtown, a luxurious townhouse in Hell’s Kitchen, or a series of skyscrapers. Fill each with furniture that suits your style and standing. Invest your hard-earned cash in real estate to grow your empire. Take over the city piece by piece.
Spend your wealth however you wish. Buy a big SUV, a speedy sports car, or the new luxurious Mersaidi S500. Maybe risk it all at the casinos or put your money into investment funds and reap the rewards.
As you progress, you always need to ensure you get enough sleep and stay healthy and happy. Enjoy the journey, for as you grow older, you’ll discover that money can’t buy you time... or can it?

I love the fact Bernard rented two apartments started 2 stores and made one of them very successful before buying a refrigerator

Now that you got some money you can start taking a taxi to where you're going, it cost a bit more than the subway but it'll take you to the doorstep of any building. (Just click on the taxis going past you on the street)

I believe you can set different hours each day... Just untick the shared schedule for all days button then schedule the hours for each day individually
@DonGorgen
@DonGorgen 3 месяца назад
You can, but usually easier to do same schedule every day to lessen the micromanaging. Ofc it's not too bad while you have only 2 employees, but when you have 500+ over 20+ businesses you're gonna want to find the easiest way to do stuff lol

would Bernard consider installing some kind of a security system? to protect his revolutionary clothing (and ideas!) from getting stolen
@JezaGaia

You can absolutely have one employee work half the week and the other the other half, there is a slider on the schedule screen called "shared schedule for all days" If the slider is green then any modification you make to the schedule will apply to every other day the store is open. If the slider is greyed out then you can edit every day of the schedule individually without it changing the other days. I would recommend having the same schedule every day as much as possible because it's much easier to manage, specially once you start having a lot of shops. Also try to remember checking the employees demands before hiring, for all you know Jeanette could have had requirements like having health insurance and if she doesn't get it she'll be unhappy and work less efficiently or even leave if her happiness goes too low. Also keep in mind that the higher the skill the more demands they have and they can have up to 3 demands including the hours (at 100%) You also don't need to dismiss the extra candidates, the application is valid for a week or so and will disappear on it's own after that. But in the meantime if you ever need an extra employee you don't need to pay for more recruitment. Hope this helps :)

While you're out and about in the city, you can also hail a taxi rather than only using the subway. I can't remember if they allow you to take a hand truck or not so you might need to test that 😎

If you want to maximise toe potential of the store then you'll need 2 cash registers, each of those can handle 20 customers per hr while the store can take 30. Same go for the clothing racks, the small ones can handle 5 and the large can handle 10, each product need to be able to handle 30 for you to maximise the store.

Have you been to The Geek Cupboard before? We don't do maximising of things, I'll just make the store look nice and leave it at that! Plus I don't really understand what you mean about clothing racks handling 5 or 10 people, so I'll just make the store look fabulous and then move on!

@@TheGeekCupboard It's like only 5 people at a time can look at stuff on the small rack and if that rack is the only one holding a certain item it's gonna bottleneck your store into only 5 people at a time even if you have plenty of other stuff they can look at. Never expected you to maximise it completely, but if you atleast fill the capacity of the one cash register you have you'll earn more money to make the store even nicer.

Oh bu the way your customers will be very unhappy because your cashier have low skill, in Murray hill it's not as bad as it would in a more posh area like Midtown but to avoid losing customers you should aim for 50% skill on your employees. This will trigger their second demand though so be prepared for this. You also can't train them while they work unless you have HR managers in your headquarters so not for a little while I would say.
@TheGeekCupboard
@TheGeekCupboard 3 месяца назад
Oh. Well we didn't have much choice really, we had people with a service skill of the mid 20s! We'll change it eventually, we just needed someone in to run the shop for a while so we can do other stuff.

63 hrs a week is too much, full time means they want 30-50 hrs a week. Anything else is gonna make them unhappy and they will quit after a while, unless you pay them bonus, but hiring another person is much cheaper. (Part time is 10-30) As they get higher skill the employees will get 3 random demands that will make them unhappy if not fulfilled, some more than others.
