Living Traditions Homestead : i had just started the video and when you said hiw much you loved fried okra, i typed out a post about you needing to try it in an air fryer... LOL... then i read your pinned post, so went back and deleted it..
Is just last them out on a cookie sheet single layer not touching each other (much lol)and put them in the freezer till they are frozen then bag them up and freeze them like normal
Oh my goodness I laughed at your “marital bliss” comment, and then again at your smirky smile when you told about the first time Kevin shook the sir fryer basket - any wife would understand HAHAHAHA!
Ken G. Ugh stupid spellcheck. I replied on my iPad, didn’t notice the incorrect spelling. Thx for notifying me of the typo. I do understand the difference btw...
Use flour and corn meal fry in a skillet. That’s traditional southern way. My grandma was a wonderful southern woman that really knew how to cook, especially okra. Yum yum
I'm with Sarah, I can't get past the sliminess of okra. Thanks for showing us how the air fryer works. I have always wondered about that. What a great way to make healthier fried (crunchy) foods!
We love okra. It is my husband's favorite vegetable, fried. Me I am a true southerner. I love boiled okra, slime and all, and I have since I was a little girl.
We love you guys. The fried Okra show was very knowledgeable, especially using the air fryer. We have never used one yet. Although you showing us how it works and the results looked fabulous. We are very excited to be accepted into the contest for winning the air fryer. Thank you for showing this to us.
I would love to win one of those air fryers, after seeing how easy it looked, and how that tasty crunch sounded, I got so hungry ! You guys are so amazing offering this give away, I love watching you everyday, how you take turns talking, and never interrupt each other, and I feel like your talking directly to me, cause you have such great eye contact with your camera... keep up the GREAT work!
I'm with Kevin, I love Okra, any way you cook it. My 11 year old dayghter loves veggies also. I am trying to get away from the regular oil frying. The air fryer sounds awesome. Very grateful for the chance to win the air fryer. Thank you for all you do. Love your channel. God Bless and best to everyone.
I love fried okra!!!! I've been trying to eat healthier and that air fryer looks like a great way to help some not so healthy cravings. I've gotta get some fried okra!!! God bless your family for teaching.
YUMMY ! ! ! What a great give away! The veggies must have tasted great , so fresh from your garden and cooked just right! I love watching your videos because you both work so well together. I was really happy that you found your newest property. What a blessing it must be for your whole family. Thanks for demoing the air -fryer ,you did a great job !
Those look yummy. I love fried okra but do not enjoy all the grease anymore. The air fried sounds like a great alternative. I just planted my spineless variety for the first time. I think it will be wonderful. So good to watch all your videos. Glad you have gone down to 3 a week. I will miss 5 but I think family is more important. You are also so busy.
One day i dream of moving back out to the country to start my own homestead. Watching your videos i am learning many things my Dad and Grandma taught me when i was younger. Miss those days. Thank you both for bringing back so many memories.
Hi Sarah! You've inspired me to try an air fryer. Loved your recipe. Just Like you, I don't like clutter on my counter. Thanks for the great video. BTW watched this on my 50th birthday.
This was great. I don't watch any infomercials on TV, but you are one of my favorite homestead families on RU-vid. So this is the first time I've seen anything about air frying. It's perfect as we have health issues, and worry about to much oil in our meals. We would love to try vegetables straight from our garden. Thanks again.
I love fried okra. I have a air fryer and so far have hated it. In my experience things do not cook evenly and the taste just wasn't there. Now I have to pull it out of the closet and try this again with your tips. Thanks for the video.
Kevin and Sarah, We are not homesteaders but I enjoying watching your videos. I especially like the ones that include your animals. Keep up the awesome job and we wish you the best in all your endeavors.
Thanks for the information. I was wondering how well the air fryer worked on fresh veggies. My husband loves fried food. Maybe the air fryer would be a healthy alternative for him.
I have been on the fence about buying an air fryer, but with this video I think you convinced me to buy one. I absolutely love okra any way it’s cooked, but my favorite way is fried. I also love fried green tomatoes. Do you think they would work in the air fryer? My husband loves fried foods, so this would be a much healthier to fry things. Thank you you so much for your fun and informative videos. I always look forward to them. God bless
I've always wanted an air dryer, but didn't want another appliance on my countertop. This one looks small enough. I'm with kevin on this one okra is for my my summertime favorite even right out of the garden. This year I bought some okra called Calhoun it can get really big and still be tender. If you guys want I will send some seeds or should I say dry pods. Let me know!. Looking forward to another airfryer video. God bless you all .
I’ve had an air fryer at least 15 years & I find it indispensable. The light spray of oil makes frying the food perfect. When my 2 boys moved out of home the 2 things I bought for them were an air fryer & rice cooker each. 😀
Loved that you've joined the air fryer world. I use olive oil in mine. I just drizzle some over the food from the dispenser. I think what happens that the airfryer distributes molecule size pieces of oil all over the food. Whatever is happening all the food Browns evenly. I first thought it would only Brown on the pieces they will touched and not the case. Please do not include me in your generous giveaway because as you can tell I already own an air fryer. Thank you for such a wholesome, helpful, and wonderful teaching videos that you produce. God bless.
Thank you for showing us how to fry okra without the grease. Love all the information you give and I’ve learned so much from both of you. Thank you for sharing your knowledge! 😀
KEVIN:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Pick that Okra much much sooner and it wont be so hard/tough, and spiny.....The ones you were picking in the video is what my family calls, "gone to seed" already!!! We all pick our okra just before it starts to form ridges.....when it is tender. Try that and your wife may enjoy Okra. They tend to have a totally different taste then. Also, we use fish fry in a golden bag to bread ours.....OMG is it good!!! I forget the name of it....You can't miss the cylinder like bag it comes in...it's shiny gold. (Walmart- on flour isle) It has just a touch of spice- not hot or even medium- its just the right amount. It takes okra to a whole new level! My grandmother, 94, has been using fish fry to cook her okra all her life and we fight over it!!! LOL Also, she will bread her okra before she freezes it. She says it's easier to deal with if you go ahead and get the hard part over with...Breading it. IDK how she does it but each one of her pieces is perfect and never sticks together.....She says its because she breads and freezes it but, that never works for me!!! LOL She puts it in hot grease straight from the freezer- no waiting. And its perfect!!!! Trust me, my mouth is watering just thinking of it. She's going to cook some this 4th of July and I can't wait!!! Try cutting your okra a good bit younger and see if you like it better. Happy growing- love your videos!
Make sure your oil is hot enough when you put in the first piece and your coating may stick better. Get the oil to 375 degF. I bet your grandmother gets her oil hot for cooking.
Just finished watching your review of the air fryer. You guys presented lots of helpful tips (like always) & I'm considering an air fryer, been holding off buying one bc they seemed small capacity. This one looks spacious. It would be nice to win an air fryer. Thank you for your helpful videos.
Noooo Sarah! I love okrah!!! To get rid of the sliminess boil the okrah in a saucepan of water and vinegar for a few minutes, drain, then continue cooking them as per normal 🙌 Ps I’m not in the USA 😭 so can’t enter/win air fryer 😞
I love these videos talking about all the healthy vegetables you can fry, mix, and eat together cause I love my green tomatoes and slice okra fried together . They good when you fry them separate , them 🥗 be good to.
Rather than wasting the excess egg and flour that's left over, use as much of both as makes coating the vegetables easy then save the egg and flour in the fridge. The following morning mix them together with milk and any extra egg or flour you need to make pancake batter.
LOVE this video! My favorite videos are your cooking and preservation videos. I especially loved this video because it not only shows how to cook some of your harvests, but also because you showcase the air-fryer, show how to use it, and give a review! I've been interested in purchasing an air-fryer so I will definitely look at this one. Thanks for all the great content you put out!

Those air fried veggies looked awesome. Your garden and homestead is so impressive. Enjoy your video's. Hope your daughter is fully recovered from her car accident. Take Care and keep growing!
You guys are the best. I just love watching you and how you interact with each other. This fryer looks like a get alternative to "fried foods". Thanks for testing it and the tips on breading the veggies.
OMG!!! Never really ate okra before but found it at my local farmers market, brought it home and steamed it and I loved it.. now I remember some restaurants where they had fried okra and I would love to get my hands on an air fryer to try it that way yes. Thank you for introducing me to something new
The thought of eating air-fried okra and it being somewhat healthier sounds good to me! Kevin, you at absolutely right...once the okra starts producing it just goes on and on and on! Happy gardening 🌱
My grandmother ALWAYS cut up the okra and soaked them in milk for a few minutes, then floured in cornmeal/flour mix and fry. (No more slime!!!) Even I enjoy it now!
I love it. I want one please new to your channel I’m so happy to learn all about your homestead. I’m watching all your videos , I’m learning a lot I will be trying everything. Love love your channel I’m sharing with my daughters as we all just starting out . Learning to hopefully start homesteading like you, this is why people like us watch because you teach us in very informative way. Thank you Sarah & Kevin great job
Love your videos and your lifestyle! I watch you guys often! Looks like the air fryer works great! So nice that you made a video to show your audience how well it works! Thanks!
I have not tried the air fryer but your demonstration makes me want to. We do a lot of deep frying and like you I want to get away from the oil, and of course the mess that it creates. I love to watch your videos. You make me feel like moving back to the country planting a garden and breathing the fresh air.
Sarah, I think like you in not wanting one more thing to clutter up the kitchen, but I do like the idea of less mess frying. Thank you for your awesome videos!
Thanks for the review of the air fryer. I don't like to make a lot of fried foods because of the extra fat and the greasy mess, so using an air fryer sounds like the perfect solution. It is so useful to learn how to 'fry' your own healthy foods, too. Thanks so much
Sarah, your expression after you said “marital bliss” cracked me up! Priceless! Your videos have been very inspiring to me. I’ve lived in my current home for 15 years and for the first time I planted some tomatoes and squash this year. Thanks for the motivation! God Bless.
I've seen a lot of air friers and this one seems so much better, you guys cracked the code on crunchy veggies. I really enjoy watching your beautiful life in the state I was raised in. Joplin to be exact. Thanks for sharing.
So I just discovered your channel, and am in love! I love fried green beans and trying different stuff. I've been bingeing your channel for a couple days now, lol.
Perfect timing! Our family has been working very hard at eating healthier and finding ways for the garden food to be more versatile, I'd love to try an air fryer!
A very nice review on the Pinsoon Air Fryer! The basket looks larger than most I've seen. You offered several great tips. I'll probably end up getting one. It's very nice of them to offer one for you to give away. Thanks for your time to review. I enjoy watching your videos.
Just watched your video on the air fryer. Fabulous information. Automatically people think of the frozen department at the store, but thank you for doing the testing of fresh from the garden foods. Interesting and tasty looking. I can’t wait to try it. Thank you so much.
I like the way that this air fryer is built and how it is so multi purposeful. I just might have to change my mind and add “another gadget” to my way to big collection of kitchen items.
After seeing another one of ur videos about okra, i grew some and cut them up seasoned them and put them in my dehydrater, they came out nice and dry! I put them in a bottle and I snack on them. No slime! They nice and crunchy! Great snack! Love ur videos!
My best friend has been using one for a few months and she's convinced me to look into them. It has to be better for us than deep frying! Thanks for the vlog and God Bless!
