They've certainly achieved the aim of getting the Friedman sound into a small box..............next target should be to get the Friedman Logo on straight!

Yeah, the Tolex ridges *guide* those rivety tacks off center. They need a "guide template" piece that aligns into the corner, getting the logo both level & at a consistent location.

Great demo! One thing to offer: so many amp demos are primarily focused on the bridge pickup. I do understand that current musical trends are geared towards gigantic, high-gain bridge pickup sounds, and I totally get that. But old war horses like me need to hear what an amp can do when put through its paces using neck, middle, and bridge positions at the very least. If it can’t cover those bases, then you end up with another one trick pony to add to the pile. Ironically, the man who produced the greatest bridge pickup tone of all time, Edward Van Halen, eventually went on to build guitars and amps that sound incredible regardless of the pickup choice or the amount of gain. For me, that opens the door to a wide range of colors to choose from. In future demos, please give us the whole picture. You certainly have the chops and a great ear for tone. With the addition of displaying a greater variety of tones, your gear demos will reign supreme. Thanks for hearing me out!

I got mine a few days back, Peach got it to me in lightning time as it was on pre-order so thanks guys! I'm a bit torn about the amp, it is different to the BE pedal mainly in that you have more control over the mids, so it sits between the BE pedal and the Dirty Shirley for me. I have tried it as a preamp from the Send into my Nux SS power amp and cab sim and it has some good tones but (maybe just me but I don't think so) it is very noisy used in this way, not hum as such but squealing sound that doesn't permeate at high volume but is very annoying. My assessment is that this amp doesn't take pedals particularly well and is designed to be used going straight into the front with buffered time delay effects in the loop, the preamp is matched with the solid state power amp so the amp will perform best when used with a real cab. It's a high gain loud mini amp which doesn't do cleans and sits well in the mix due to a good amount of EQ control, stand alone it's a bit fizzy but cuts through the mix very well.

@@BAND-MAID-USA more like $400-550. That SS mini amp is retailing for around $299. Give the same exact amp a bigger chassis and a 1 X 10 or 1 X12 speaker to make it a combo and it should only be a couple hundred more. There's no tubes, or other related expensive components. It's basically a distortion pedal in amp form.

The price of these small heads like this Friedman, Bogner, SLO makes it worth it for the fx loop and power amp for guys that use modelers like Line 6 Helix / HX or Strymon Iridium to play direct but want to jam at volume at home. Having high gain tone option is a bonus.

Just bought the ToneX 2 weeks ago, and bought this Friedman here tonight off Amazon, I'm going to pair them with HDRX 1×12 PRS Cabinet, with the power amp and FX Loop it should be unbelievable, too bad there wasn't a second channel on the Friedman so you could have the clean set flat for the ToneX and have the Friedman itself on the second channel with pedals running after a splitter, this amp sounds unbelievable and quite frankly it's pretty cheap for what it achieves, it's a future classic amp for sure

Sounds great. Its only limitation is it's a one-channel amp and if you wanna go cleaner, you gotta wind down the volume on the guitar which is still cool. Maybe it's already in the works, but I'm thinking the next step would be a 50 or 100 watt 2-channel version. In any case, this little amp sounds raunchy as hell and it's super inexpensive compared to their tube amps

Between this and the Saldano Mini 30 was a pretty easy decision. I just bought both haha. I like the Saldano mini better but I’m MASSIVE Friedman fan boy..

An EQ in front with a slight 100, 200hz cut, and 800hz boost would really tighten up the bottom end and bring out that midrange growl 👍

I wonder if this sounds better than the Orange Micro dark or Stamp? They have a tube in the pre this does not but it sounds great anyway.

from the manual, "We recommend 8-16 Ohm operation only (single 8 Ohm or dual 16 Ohm cabinets). Connecting to a 4 Ohm speaker cabinet will not guarantee a safe operation especially when played at higher levels. Use a Speaker cable ONLY."

Sounds great except when you got to the single-note stuff it had that kind of hard-edged solid state breakup. Nevertheless, the way guys are recording direct and things these days, it'll probably sound remarkable in its own respect.

I must say....impressive....how can Friedman do this at their first shot at ss and after all this time Marshall for the last 30 years continue to sell shitty can of bees ss amps is beyond me...

I think it just comes down to a difference in ethos between Friedman and Marshall. Friedman doesn't put out a product unless it's good, whereas Marshall will happily put out garbage and slowly update it with slightly better garbage every few years.

The first generation Valvestate hybrid amps that came out in the early 90's were the exception, especially the 8100 head. The AVT and MG series amps that followed don't come close

@@martinlahaie6012 yes it did have a preamp tube (ECC83 i believe) from the 40 watt combo to the 100 watt head. Gave it a fairly convincing tube tone/sustain and a good-sounding overdrive sound. And of course the classic Marshall tones, plus when it was cranked, it sounded even more amazing

I think is marketed towards the player who has no experience with a true amp sound. It's a gateway amp so to speak. And naturally Jack has made it sound the best so far.

Honestly, it sounds to me like when you plug a $60 belt-clip amp into a 4x10. -- Edit: I did like the sound starting @ 7:14 when the gain was rolled all the way off, and you played around with the guitar volume, but that's a pretty bad limitation for my taste. For significantly less money, I'd much sooner buy an Orange Crush 35.

I'm a bit shocked at the comments for this. Not even the nameplate to this thing is fitted on straight. Sounds like an old Marshall Valvestate. The only thing Friedman about this is the name. Sounds like a cheap solid state amp, it has that "far away" indirect, dynamic-less, un-touch sensitive sound, like you've put a blanket over the top of the real deal. If you're a Friedman fanboy with shallow pockets, then this is for you. Otherwise, it's a bit of gimmick really isn't it.
