Note to self: don't wear flip flops when chookie is around. Lol! The parrots are so pretty. Looks like the male is more red than green, and the female is more green than red. That makes it a lot easier to tell them apart!
@@FredTheLutinoCocatiel Wrong. Their distinguishing characteristics, green or orange, called sexual dimorphism is determined by evolution through natural selection. Most bird species have vastly different colours and the male with the brightest colours (to a bird’s vision) gets to mate ahead of his rivals. Those genes for bright colours then get passed on to the next generation. It happens in mammals too, lions have manes and lionesses do not for example. Given that the hatchlings live in a tree hollow until they fly no predator can see them. Dimorphism is not linked to distracting the predator, if it was then there would be no males left.
@@teeanahera8949 ¨is determined by evolution through natural selection. -- Those genes for bright colours then get passed on to the next generation. A castrated lion will lose its mane , and there are cases of lionesses with manes , and also male lions without manes. Thanks for your lesson on evolution - just a shame that your theory is not backed by fact.
@@Fenrispro Yeah they're fairly common. It's a bit hard for me to say because I don't know how often other people see them, but I see them in my backyard almost every day.
Kings are the least shy parrots, wild ones often come into people’s gardens and are very inquisitive. They’ll happily eat out of your hand as you saw here.
Don't underestimate Chookie. She comes from the great family of dinosaurs. Her ancestors chickened out to survive from the asteroids, but she's still a dinosaur at heart. You can't demand that she shouldn't eat you, you can only request. It's kind enough for her not to stomp over your body.
Every King Parrot I have encountered at home has been very friendly and trusting. One used to fly inside and sit on the kitchen table chirping at us until we got it some sunflower seeds.
Eating from your hand!! Such colorful & friendly birds! You are so lucky! .... MeanwhileChookie is continuously pecking your toes if you feed the parrots 😂
Hey , Your so blessed to have all those parrots roaming free and other cutie wonderfull animals happy Christmas to you your family and feathered friends from a very cold frozen UK 🧡💛 💙🇬🇧☃️☃️☃️☃️☃️☃️☃️☃️🤪
Beautiful birds and so gentle too. I like that despite all your experience and comfort with all the birds, whenever you have new visitors you still go slow with them and don't just confidently shove your hand in their face. Your nature is what attracts these birds to you so much I believe :D Hope you have a great weekend :D
@@BackyardBirdsofAustralia i need this in my life. It would def cure my depression. Being with animals always does. It looks like they help you as much as you help them.
@@TheBlindRaven I can say that it certainly took more than the birds to cure my depression but they do help and are incredibly cute. I hope you're doing okay and have access to all of the support you need xx
Wild parrots - so polite and happy to wait for a nibble. Chicken - eats your toes and insists on food immediately or it might climb your leg. Absolutely hilarious!!!!
yes, the simple life in australia. And yes, "TheRetroMacaque" is right. Word has spread! Birds want to come. Very nice video of the good parts of Life. thank you.
Look at the brilliant family! The baby wasn't sure if she should partake without asking for permission from her mum and daddy. At the end, she couldn't resist a little wee snack. I love chookie's cooing. I love Australia's glorious feathered babes. Actually, I love all animals. Thank you for the wonderful wonderful video.
I know I've said it before in past videos, but I really do envy your special connection with all these birds! Those two king parrots were incredibly chill for wild birds. Also, Chookie needs to calm down haha! Thanks for sharing 😀
Lovely he took the treats from you, the tired Dad bless. It’s lovely you have the whole family. Also I love Chicken so they are so inquisitive and friendly. I have a Kakariki called Ick. Lovely video! Thank You!
Those parrots are so beautiful and pensive! I love how the second one had such a smooth seeming gradient of colours (or maybe my screen is wonky lol) I keep wanting something like this so much that I'm thinking I should learn to create games, and make a game (maybe VR) that is a "surrounded by wild parrots" simulator lol
I love King parrots. There are 5 that come to our deck to be fed. Only one will eat out of my hand.As well as the red & green feathers there is a cobalt blue section underneath their wings & on their back.
Absolutely gorgeous 😂 We had pink Galahas bring their bub to feed on our back verandah in the last month or so .. it wasn't as tiny as that beautiful little parrot though 💖 The Corellas haven't been around lately so the Pinkies aren't as shy at the moment.. I love our country so much 😎🇦🇺✌️
XD Omg you with your chicken is how I used to be with my turkeys! "The phone is not for eating! We've discussed this" or "Mommy's are not for eating." XD
Such beautiful birds! And so friendly too, the dad bird looked very grateful for the snacks~ As a kid, I had a budgie that went after toes with a vengeance. I used to eat dinner sitting cross legged on my chair. I looked under the table and she was there, like: “s o o n”.
Oh those parrots are lovely . You are so lucky to have all the different birds visit you even if chocky finds it fun to peck your toes and get your attention 🤣 She won in a way ! 💐🇬🇧x
this is really special. i hope you're in a migratory path because you're establishing your location with these incredible animals as a safe haven complete with water, food and shelter. i hope you get to host some visiting swans )
