One of the reasons why the couch is so damaged is in a deleted scene where when the couch is stuck on the stairs Rachel accidentally hits the fire alarm and people from the building come down and run/jump on it to get past, it's deleted but it might be on the DVD/ Blu ray version not sure, broadcast versions it's cut for some reason, maybe to make time for commercial breaks?

Peak David Schimmer acting this season, I love it. :D This couch-taking-up-the-stairs-thing reminds me so much of how I helped my parents to take our new cupboard up the stairs recently. Pure horror. And it was only the first floor haha.

I am totally on Rosss side regarding the $100 for the handyman he's never met, too! The guy is leaving just as Ross came in, and has never done anything for Ross. Ross might have suggested a $10 tip as a basic gesture, but the rest of the building should have been understanding. This is one of the few times when Phoebe's savagery is actually shown to backfire, but I just love her comments on the other tenants..

Interesting enough, they were thinking of pairing both Joey and Monica originally. But looking back on the previous episodes with both Chandler and Monica before both hooked up, it makes sense both of them would end up together

They removed a scene, that’s available on the DVD. Rachel accidentally pulled the fire alarm that was next to her when she was getting up, and everybody came downstairs and destroyed the couch by going over it. The fire department had to chop it in half in order to get it removed from the building.

PIVOT! one of the best lines in the series. I used it when my friend and I moved and we had to get his bed upstairs.

I love the pivot scene because coming from someone who had to move furniture around at Amazon and move stuff around when someone says something like this. It got really irritating and me and my ex coworkers were still friends. We always send each other this clip and we all laugh because it’s so relatable.

I actually dislike how everyone undermines joey being hit by that girl. Some girls can hit really hard.

Episode 14-16 were definitely some of the more well known quotable episodes and it continues to be so good 😊there’s so few series that stay hilarious and good throughout and I think Friends was very well done 😊

I have a Friends shirt that has pivot and shut up on it and I have worn it until it has holes in it.

The cop Phoebe dates leads me to another show - Atypical, where the same actor plays Doug Gardner, the father of the main family. He was a lot older because Atypical was released on Netflix in the late 2010s, but he's still recognizable. If you're wondering, the show mostly centres around a young man with autism (high school in the first two seasons, university in the last two) and the people around him - his parents, younger sister, best friend, eventual girlfriend and his sister's boyfriend and later girlfriend, and for the first season, his therapist. Every character has their own storyline to follow, but he's our leading character, a highly intelligent boy with social difficulties and an obsessive interest in penguins. At one point, i had a pin based on it that said "Normal is overrated" and had the names of penguin species. Give it a watch. It has come under criticism for some Hollywood autism and not casting an autistic actor, but it improved as time went on, and brought in several autistic actors. I'm a big fan of Paige, the girlfriend, mainly because she appears autistic to me too, the kind that goes undiagnosed and is more typical in girls.

I hope after you finish the show you'll watch all of the bloopers 😁

The way the couch is broken is in an extended cut, ross and rachel get up to move couch but rach accidentally pulls the fire alarm as she uses it to get up. As people are evacuating they climb on the couch, breaking it on the stairs

These are definitely two of my favorite episodes

In the original cut of the episode they show how the couch got cut in half - while they were trying to get it up the stairs after the whole PIVOT scene one of them accidentally bumps the fire alarm setting it off and everyone in the building comes running down the stairs jumping and climbing all over the couch to get through
