Oh I'm so glad you're empathising with Monica. She's always been among my favourite TV characters, and I feel like very few people understand her. She's the glue holding the gang together.
I personally think Phoebe and Joey actually hold the group together but I’m also a Monica sympathizer lol. She has always been the target of judgement and insults but I think she’s probably the most complex character in the show.
You could have powered half the city with your million watt smile when they finally kissed. Your smile was fantastic and brought back the memories and feelings of my first time seeing it. Thank you so much for doing this series. 💗
Chandler cares deeply about Monica, but I get it,like the second somebody wakes me up this early and wants me to do something I'm like: You can be my sibling, you can be my friend, you can be my partner, but in this moment you are my enemy. Obviously it was selfish from him but I think Monica needed that nap.People like her are really bad at taking breaks. As someone who lives very much in my head,I get the idea behind the list, but I would make sure, that the persons on it don't EVER see it. But,of course, everything for the drama
Yeah. I get why it would be painful to read but it is not an unreasonable thing to do in that situation. The thing I came to realise about Ross and Rachel is how they don't really work together. The only reason they are in love with each other is because they are. Opposites attract? Not always. July makes more sense but she is a tad bland though she did not deserve this I am on team Rachel-Ross. My favorite Friends moments are when real feelings are shown between them
25:58 It's unintentional, but Chandler is responsible for most of the developments in Ross and Rachel's relationship. He told Rachel that Ross was in love with her. He suggested making the list and then printed it. Also some future stuff that I won't mention now to avoid spoilers.
You have no idea how a huge chunk of America went completly bananas one Thursday night many moons ago. It was a surreal thing to experience as it happened for the first time. Seems like another universe now.
You younger generations are so fortunate that you can watch on demand, pretty much anything you want, at anytime and binge your little hearts out. WE had to wait a whole week to find out what happened next one episode at a time!
Yes. And didn't know if someone is ok with no means to reach them until they got home. And how frustrating it was to find a song on a cassette tape rewind. Too far or not far enough? We are all glad those days of going miles to the library to look through books that may or may not have the information you seek are behind us. The world got crazier and more annoying but at least technology makes things easier
I think we lost Oscar...🤣....I really appreciate your involvement in the Ross Rachel couple....Finally can't wait to see your reaction to the next episode....Ouch
I LOVED watching your reaction to Ross finding out and the kiss! That scene is ICONIC. It's literally on lists of most memorable TV moments. But knowing what would happen next I just knew how disappointed and frustrated you'd be. I feel you. It was a bit too good to be true to be honest but the list thing frustrates me so much. Chandler and Joey are good and loyal friends but they give TERRIBLE advice. And Ross was stupid go along with it. I thought it was ridiculous how Rachel found out too. Also, while I get it's for the comedy effect, I still find it hilariously annoying that Rachel doesn't realise Ross meant "she's not RacheL" instead of "she's not RacheM". Like come on! Btw, there is a deleted scene where Ross and Julie go get a cat in the shelter and Ross freaks out: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-w9C9_RUhBsY.html The show just gets better and better from now on, but I don't wanna spoil anything so just keep watching!
I guess I'm glad I watched Friends on DVD. Seems all these "deleted scenes" I see mentioned were included as part of the actual episodes on the DVD version
NEVER IN MY LIFE have I clicked on a video so quick. Knowing what episode is coming..... Okey, now I'm gonna actually watch this reaction. I just had to get that out of my system before 😅
The one thing my dad told me before he died -- it was, "Son, never be a marshmallow." and then there were some awful choking noises and thrashing and stuff...but that's not important. Anyway, I start watching this, and now I'm thinking, "Am I really a marshmallow now?"
Oh snap, you're at Thee Episode. This one is a milestone paying off a season and quarter of build up of will they-won't they epic television. This one and then one coming immediately up are a one-two punch of book-end episodes that is a masterclass in how to write and continue a TV romance maintaining the tension and highwire act of emotional weight and week to week stakes without tipping the dramatic scales too much one way or the other. No spoilers. But this one was a major viewing event back in the day and although Friends was the hottest show on television, this episode shot them straight into that rarified air of hitting and dictating the pop culture zeitgeist for a moment in time. Everybody was talking about this the next day at wherever. And the series hasn't even hit its apex yet. Not even close. Yeah. When it's quality Friends like these, we'll never get closure.
29:26 LOL! 😂😂😂 Facts! Monica has always been my favorite, because she’s the base and who everyone can depend on for love and comfort. She holds everyone together.
Chandler and Joey are honestly terrible friends. Instead of them trying to take all the responsibility, they literally ran out of the room. Chandler more so, because it was his idea. Anybody can think of cons for any potential boyfriend or girlfriend and in your mind you sometimes do this sort of comparisons. I don't think Ross did anything wrong. In this moment, Chander could have easily said it was all his idea and those things on the list is what he suggested. Chandler doesn't have nearly as much to lose as Ross here.
Chandler could have done that (and should have if he was a good friend) but I don't think that would have made Rachel change her mind. What Ross wrote still hurt her no matter who's idea that was at the start. And I personally do think the stuff he wrote was hurtful and I wouldn't be able to date someone who wrote that stuff.
Hey Man, BTW: Thanks for playing the accompanying music sting that plays over Ross and Rachael having their big end of the episode moment of truth. I know RU-vid policies and bs make it hard, but it really brings the moment home with the soundtrack playing over them. You rule!
I get how rachel felt. My insecurities about myself scream in my head all the time and to have someone that you trust that much basically CONFIRM that they are real and are problems would be heartbreaking
'We just gotten a call from Rachel and she told us what Ross did. 'pretty appalling and Ross, if you're listening, I don't wanna play your song anymore.' ***This specific bit amongst many is just another example of the Friends writers superb talent for taking standard well-worn dramatic troupes and turning them on their head; to set up what's anticipated only to sidestep the obvious for the opportunity at inverting the ol' tired and (un)true cliches of exhausted conventions to make the form and genre fresh and hip in unexpected clever ways, like this bit which really goes out of it's way in its set up for just a really quick off-camera Day Player's one-line payoff. Which that lady voice actor totally nails perfectly in her zero to sixty in two-seconds-flat instant rapid disgust at Ross, and then that little sweet extra capper parting shot to top it all off, chef's kiss*** '....why don't we devote our time to a couple that stands a chance....' ***MIke Drop****
4:51 The guy with whom Rachel is on a date is *Arye Gross,* he’s in an interesting movie called *The Experts* with *John Travolta,* also in the heartwarming and funny movie *Coupe De Ville.* Check them out. 20:00 That's *Michael McKean,* a very funny guy, he's been on shows and movies since the 70's, watch him in *Clue* with *Christopher Lloyd* (Doc Brown) and *Tim Curry,* very funny movie.
Thanks, Oscar! ☕ The director of s2e8 is also an actor... check her out in THE BIG CHILL (1983) and PECKER (1998). #TheCocoaCouch #PeterBonerz #MaryKayPlace #Friends
Chandlers laptop, 12mb ram, that was a while ago, today u almost can't open a calculator with that 😂 Never understood the "just a waitress" thing, who cares what some1 else does for a living, it isn't exactly something I fall for in a girl, it is all about the personality, values and eyes 🙂 That song the radio played for Rachel though, it is beautiful, "U2 - With Or Without You", perfect in the moment
I can't watch the show again for the first time, so it's really great to see you watch it. Ross and Rachel are my favorites on this show...throughout the entire series. Their love is so deep. Their communication is just not on par for so much of the conflicts in this series...and that's the genius of the writing on this show. It's also a testament to the actors...David Schwimmer and Jennifer Aniston are amazing. There is something so consistently beautiful between Rachel and Ross, and I can't wait for you to see the rest of the series.
The scene with Rachel in the restaurant was funny as hell everytime I see it I quote it from start to finnish. Your being a little weird about phone😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🎉
Joey and Pheobe are my favourites and they have the best friendship in my opinion. Always sticking up for each other and you'll see what I mean as you go through the seasons.
I feel like you miss the point of the friends dynamic. It is so relatable to have friends be their for you always but at the same time give you advice that at times could be good and sometimes bad. The point is nobody is perfect and knows how to handle everything the right way. So you try your best and make mistakes and hopefully grow from them.
I honestly don't see what the problem is with a pros and cons list. It's not such a bad thing to know about shortccomings. Plus writing out your feelings helps you gain clarity. Rachel is a little spoiled and whatever else he said. I love Rachel, but instead of being so hurt, she could have done a bit of introspection. She already knows what he said was true. She just needs to accept that about herself and try to improve it.
If you did this list to be self aware of your insecurities and help improve yourself, it is a good thing BUT I think it's knowing these things that you are insecure about are the same things your loved ones think about you is what hurts the most!! But yeah Rachel's reaction was a little too dramatic towards Ross since he actually went lengths to apologise and make it up to her and make her feel good about herself again! Her closing the curtains and leavings while he was hanging in the cold rain pouring his heart out and saying good things about her was a little cruel!
@@eddied.3426 Details Eddie. Details. Besides that was almost 30 years ago. Things have changed. Let me prove it and get you a pint as well. With a mocktail chaser. 🤣🤣🤣
@@jessquinn6106 I've actually always been curious ever since 1st time seeing this episode. Then I saw behind the scenes. It was just plain chocolate haha but I'm curious to feel it crumble in my mouth. 'Cause you see your ordinary chocolate doesn't do that
@@eddied.3426 Old hard chocolate probably will. Its the bubbling that scares me. Funny the actor Michael McKean appears in the Film "My Life in Ruins" as a dealer of Maple Syrup and rambles on about it and IHOPs throughout the film. I guess he just has that look of a food promoter.
It's not "mean". That's what real friends do. They're honest. They don't lie to you, and they make jokes. And then they help you. People who blatantly lie to you to not hurt your feelings aren't real friends. I've had both and the latter is far better.
@@thecocoacouch The way they said it is the same way my closest friends of decades would say it. I said brutally honest and I meant it. Those friends and their brutal honesty have saved me so many times.
Rachel and Ross are such a frustrating, terrible couple. They constantly pine for each other until they actually get together, and then they can't stand each other. They are terrible whenever they do actually get together - to each other and others. They are terrible to each other when they break up. They never have healthy communication. They make their whole friend group uncomfortable over and over again. There's another couple on the show that are the epitome of a healthy, mature and loving couple that R&R wishes they could be.
I will never understand Rachel being upset at Ross for "making a list" Like She put him in an impossible situation I would 100% understand if he needed to make a list to understand his feelings on both Julie and her But then again, he was right, she's spoiled, so that's probably why she's upset. She's just used to getting what she wants
@@normie2716 he let it slide cause he was scrounging for pits. He didn't have to let that stay in. Also, if that's what he meant, it should've been either 'me and Julie work the same job.' Hard Stop or 'Rachel works a completely different job.' hard stop.
Love your Friends reactions. :) However, I've never been the biggest fan of Ross & Rachel, but they provide good stories, haha. And I must admit, I also did this radio thing with the exact same song for my ex-boyfriend. Yeah, he never actually listened to the radio. 😆
Too be honest the chandler put on weight story is ridiculous. He is a good weight and then in s3 his weight changes extremely (he was skin n bones) and thats why you dont do drugs
I hated this a little bit because I loved Julie. She was pretty, smart, funny, super kind, really fun, and just perfect for Ross. I wish her character was more like a certain other character who was, at least for me, terribly unlikable the entire time she was on the show. Then it would be easier.
Monica to me was less helping out Chandler then being competitive and wanting a project. But you made me look at it a bit differently. I still feel for Chandler for being fat shamed and pressured to work out 6am
I can't say I have very much empathy for Ross in this case. Yeah you could say that Joey and Chandler could have handled it more maturely, but Ross could have also just said no. Ultimately it's up to him to have agreed to make a list in the first place. But he already has a tendency to go to immature reactions first anyway, even without the other guys. He acts like a pouty spiteful baby when things don't go his way. Think about how awfully he treated Carol and Susan. He wasn't just disappointed or sad, he was outwardly resentful and he took it out on them. I could argue that the other guys are actually much better adjusted. At least their immature reactions tend to JUST be immature/goofy rather than Ross' lashing out. It's actually pretty easy to see from his reactions to everything how spoiled/doted on he was as a kid. It's SO obvious that he isn't used to not getting his way.
Carol and Susan were the ones who were awful to him. Carol cheated and then tried to include Susan like she was a parent and not just some person who she just started to date. She should not have had any say in Ben’s upbringing, and expecially not with last name. It caused Ross have long term insecurity about cheating like Pheobe pointed out. So I fully support Ross with everything to do with them. But in this episode I agree with you regarding the list.
@@sarasamaletdin4574 oh they definitely did wrong too but that doesn't make what he did right. More than one person can be wrong in a relationship and all three of them were horrible to each other.
