I think the brilliance of this show is in the writing, how they made you care about the little things and how that made almost everything throughout S1 have that "emotional impact". I appreciated what this show did with "down time", those moments where nothing much is happening, but you are invested in characters bonding or Frieren finding meaning to what she didn't care for before with the Party of Heroes.
This show reminded me a lot of Tolkien's Silmarillion, which features the recurring tragedy of immortal elves befriending (and in a handful of cases marrying) short-lived humans.
I never feel that Frieren is slow, to my surprise when i heard that some people do think so. Because every episode has is a new thing, a new memory of the Hero's party. So I don't see why it is considered slow when it is not about the destination but the journey.
I think it's a matter of preference and what each person considers "slow". I personally, am not always a fan of heavy dialogue shows and Frieren is definitely that, however imo it's still the best kind of slow I've seen so far. So it's both a critique and a compliment I guess?
One of the stories I want to hear is: *"We killed the final boss, now what?!"* The big bad is dead, we are now in our pinnacle, we completed the mission now what? Like seriously please don't let this be the end.
