I would sell my gun to the government but there's 2 problems. There is a YT channel called New Zealand Family. The family recently returned from a week long vacation in America and released a video detailing their experiences. One huge surprise for them was that in their multi-state tour, they came across ZERO Americans carrying a gun! They had expected to see guns everywhere, based upon worldwide news reports. They did mention that they saw police with guns.
The power of concealed carry is the element of surprise. The general permitted civilian prioritizes safety and self preservation. They are rarely the aggressor or the assailant. In my opinion, open carry (firearm carried is clearly visible) increases the chances of becoming a target that has the capability of resistance to the criminal. The majority of American gun owners abide with local and state laws. They are required to pass both a state and federal background check and a permit is granted by the county sheriff’s office when training and education requirements are met. It is a federal punishment to sell a firearm to a known felon and subject to heavy fines and 10 year prison sentence. Criminals do not obey the same laws and they have no desire to play by the rules. It’s my personal responsibility to protect my family and country from all threats both foreign and domestic. The weapons and tools I believe are necessary to ensure the success of this duty is my business and not the governments. Many of the firearms owned by American civilians are also sportsmen and hunters who are required to complete a firearms safety course before they can legally purchase a game tag. There are more deer hunters in the Midwest than in the combination of all military branches. A majority of the armed forces are passionate about the perseveration of the nation and the rights and liberties of its people. The same applies to law enforcement officers. So in the event of governmental overreach and the complete infringement of our constitutional rights, we the people are the majority power and party. A massive amount of military personnel and law enforcement will not enforce unconstitutional laws and likely resign from duty to aide the attempt to combat a tyrannical regime. I know which “team” I play for and it’s the side with the most firearms and weapons. The opposition that remains is the government who is ultimately incompetent in every affair they participate in and the anti gun individuals who are defenseless and are harmed by words that are labeled as “violence”. So I ask who is willing to go door to door and demand that they surrender their firearms? The government, the general public, the reduced military members and law enforcement perhaps? They know the danger of such an obligation and I estimate they would be very hesitant in this pursuit. The American people have majority rule and they remain loyal to the constitution and the enjoyment of personal freedom and individual liberty. The only way the government has a chance to win the issue is by passing legislation to threaten American citizens and making them fearful of criminal prosecution. The American spirit is the responsibility of the people to protect the country from infringement of government and the preservation of everyone’s rights, regardless of individual opinions or beliefs. The majority of Americans are not represented in the media and they treat their neighbors and fellow countrymen with respect and dignity.

On that boxes comment. I have always wondered. Do people really think that the heavier the gun, the more deadly? I am in the market for a new AR and I want something light that I can easily carry and manipulate. Shocking the outrage over something they know nothing about.
What's even worse, is the people looking to legislate weapons out of your hands have security details with access to far deadlier, far more nefarious weaponry. It's like trying to ban someone from owning a pea-shooter, while having a nuke in your back pocket.

I don't think it's necessary to know every detail about guns. It would be much more helpful to look at working solutions in other countries. That applies to most issues, though. There are countries that are so safe that not even the police carry guns (like Norway) while others have high gun ownership but low crime rate (e.g. Switzerland).
@@MagoLP I think the farce put on by people who claim to know what they want to ban without actually banning anything that can seriously cause serious harm, or by banning stuff that is similar to stuff that they aren't banning, shows the level of competence in politicians. This is a purely meta argument, and the entire argument that you're ignoring is meta. We can talk all we want to about how other countries don't carry guns, but you still won't get gunless crime or activity without some magical way of removing ALL of them from EVERYONE in America, which is why direct comparisons to other countries won't work. And no, if you live in a place where the same crime of California and New York City aren't happening on the same scale and consequence, then you really don't have a say on what kind of weapons we are allowed to have when we need to actually defend ourselves. You can't even compare to other countries. You might live in a homogeneous environment (or even if you don't, those places surely are very homogeneous), and therefore they have a homogeneous culture and way of life, so there is rarely any conflict to the level we have in major cities in America. You can even see during the lockdowns that the rate of gun ownership in the United States has increased dramatically. So to quote Beta O'Rourke, "hell yeah I'm going to gatekeep you out of this argument!"
@@redwall1521 Well, yes, the US is different. But you people aren't even trying to find a solution. There are a lot of factors that contribute to high crime rates, you need to address all of them, not just guns. But it seems to only get worse, not better.
