Ours has a small drainpan but if you have a lot of water like we did it will overflow. Hopefully yours was just iced up from being left open.

blow dryer on hot setting....works in just a few minutes!

I started with just a blow dryer but once i got the steamer i never used the dryer again @@jim9214

Yes, I had spilled corn in the bottom. Then one of the grandkids left the door open after getting a popcycle adding water. So it had ice and corn in it. Hope that is what you have. But possibly some other food though. Thanks for watching.

@@kaylagutermuth3688 I'm sorry but I'm really bad at just fixing things and forgetting to record a video. If you mean the method I used to determine the thermostat was bad, you can watch this Team Klutzy video and when he removes that back panel there is a styrofoam box covering the thermostat on the right side of the camera in his video. That foam is just hot glued in place and mine just fell off when I removed the panel, but that's where the thermostat is located (the hot glue is only needed to hold the foam in place while you assemble the panel...I didn't re-glue because the panel holds the foam in place against the back of the freezer when you assemble). One connection goes to the temperature probe, one goes to ground terminal on the back of the freezer (if I remember), and the two others are hot. If I remember right the two bottom wires were hot but before you disconnect the wires you should be able to see which one is ground and which one is for the probe. I unplugged all the wires on the thermostat and cut a small 1" piece of house copper wire and inserted into the two hot wire connectors to bridge them together (which makes it as if the thermostat is always ON so you don't want to leave it running that way). Then I made sure it wasn't close to anything (better to tape it), and turned on the freezer and it worked. You could also bridge them with a multimeter wire with alligator clips on each end. You can search youtube for "how to bypass freezer thermostat" and there's a lot of videos showing the general method. Make sure the freezer is unplugged before doing any of that and only plug it in to test and don't run it with the thermostat bypassed. To test it after you plug it in you either have to close the door for a few seconds or push on the door switch on the bottom of the door for a few seconds and if that's the problem it will run like normal. If you find out that's the problem, DO NOT throw away the white PVC sleeve over the old temperature probe because my new thermostat didn't come with a sleeve. That sleeve is nearly impossible to slide over the new probe without bending the heck out of it, so I would suggest some kind of food grade lubricant that can be frozen before you try to slide it on the new probe.

Agreed 100%. In our case as we mentioned in the video, a bag of frozen corn leaked all over the inside and plugged up the drain.

Yes it worked for us the freezer is still in operation and has not iced up since. We also haven't broken any more bags of corn inside.

Hello James,we have ours set right in the middle but it shouldn't make too much difference. The problem we had was the drain being plugged with debris causing the water from the defrost cycle to back up inside and that just keeps getting worse over time until it won't cool. Until we cleared the drain it just kept happening.

I have the same freezer and this was my first freezer repair. Mine was a bad thermostat so it wasn't cooling. From the reading I did for mine if you have frost it sounds like your evaporator fan isn't working. That's easy to check. Unplug the freezer and unscrew the panel or whatever you have covering the fan, then plug in the freezer and hold down the door switch. The fan should come on. If it doesn't, the defrost timer may be in defrost mode. Find the defrost timer (usually on the bottom rear of the freezer, visible) and you should see a couple lines where the knob/screw is. Those lines are the defrost mode. Turn the knob past those lines until it clicks to get out of defrost mode and plug the freezer in again and hold down the door switch, the fan should come on. My timer had a knob I could turn with my fingers, but yours may need a screwdriver to turn it. If the fan is working your defrost heater may be the problem. You will need to unplug the heater and test it with a multimeter set to lowest ohms. You'll have to look that up depending which type of heater you have. If the fan doesn't work after those tests, unplug the harness, plug in a multimeter to the leads on the freezer harness the fan was plugged into, plug in the freezer and hold down the door switch and it should have voltage. If it doesn't have voltage your fan may be good and you might have another problem, like the defrost timer. It's easy to remove the defrost timer and take it to someone to test it. Mine had a wire harness and two screws. Like I said in my other comment here I tested mine following instructions online and it looked bad, but a repair guy said it was fine so I don't know how to test the timer without further reading.

@@badcrcz To test timer, turn part with two lines until fan and compressor start up, and keep on turning until they stop, this tells you timer contacts are still good. To test timer motor, mark where lines are in relation to rotating part of timer, come back in a couple hours and see if it has advanced from mark.

Hello JV, the tube is a drain that goes to a tray underneath where the moisture from the auto defrost evaporates. So, yes we pushed the corn through but then cleaned it up when we wiped out that tray as part of our cleanup. We apologize for the confusion on that, as you can tell we are still learning, and appreciate your feedback, we'll try to make sure we include details like that going forward.

Hello Thanks for watchin'! The outlet is straight down and on ours was over a metal tray that catches the water so it can evaporate without damaging the floor under the freezer. Ours had a rubber one way valve that prevents bugs from crawling up it.

That's my same issue. I replaced the thermostat and it's still constantly running even on 1. Did you ever figure out what your cause was from?

Possibly but not necessarily true. If it wasn’t a matter of overloading the freezer to the point there’s no proper circulation, reducing the contents after this is a possible fix. Of course if the red light is permanently on instead of blinking and this does indeed happen again, then definitely the defrost circuit might need replacing. What’s with the hahaha? You sound like an immature fridge tech that enjoys malice.

Hello Barney Thanks for commenting. As we talked about in the video part of our problem was a bag of corn that broke an plugged up the drain pipe. With that cleared out we have not had any further issues.

I watched someone solve the problem I'm having with my freezer, but hey, whatever floats your boat.
