FYI. I replaced my ice maker and solenoid valve about 6 years ago. Suddenly, no ice. I looked for the original video that helped me years ago, but yours came up. I watched it. That filling drain tube was frozen shut just like yours. Great job, my man. Great job.
Thank you so much for this video. I did exactly as you suggested for the first step, hot water and all, and my ice container is now full of ice. I have not had ice for about 2 weeks and kept hesitating calling someone. You saved me money and headaches!
Haaaaa! Been without ice for a week. Decided to do a youtube search for my Galaxy. Yours was first on the results. Turns out the fill tube on my ice maler was clogged with ice! I'm thinking it was the freezer was too full and the door wasnt sealing well. Pulled it out the fill valve, hot water, then a good scrub to remove some gunk. Reconnected and when i cycled the unit it filled like a champ. Saved me a $100 service call! Thank you thank you thank you!!! Pro tip, loosen the line by peeling back the tape then just do a quarter turn then pull the fill tube first then you can easily unscrew it from the line. Bit of a pain in the reverse order.
You rock dude! This totally fixed my problem. A caveat however: My white plastic fill tube was not majorly clogged with ice. It was just a tiny piece of ice at the connection with the supply line. It fell off when I disconnected the supply line. About the size of a pencil eraser. If I hadn't of looked on the floor I wouldn't have seen it. When I took the white tube out it was clear, and I was initially disappointed. Thanks again!
Thank you very much for posting this video! I also had the water tube iced up. Got it cleared and now getting ice again. Just in time before a family gathering today. You helped to save the day! 👏🏻
This fix worked for me. The first batch of new ice cubes just ejected 1.5 hours after removing the tube/chute and clearing a significant ice blockage. Thank you!
Thank you! My ice maker hasn’t worked in 2 weeks. Tried everything. Confirmed everything working except water. Had water but no water to ice. Found your Video with SIMPLE way to remove and clear the water tube. It worked. It was frozen
3weeks no ice ,I checked all problems it could be,last night I felt no water getting to the tray from hose in back of refrigerator.my daughter says mom leave it alone lol I am over 70 ,I can't leave it alone. it's about to be fixed thanks to you. As soon as she goes out ,We are going to get this ice moving you and me 🤞 will let you know how it goes 🧊🧊
If the filling tube block up again it may be indicating that the fill valve is slowly leaking and NOT shutting off completely as it should after the fill cycle. That slow leak would cause over time the fill valve section to accumulate ice. Thanks for sharing.
My parents Kitchen Aid side by side stopped making ice last summer. Figured out that two of the wires at the bottom of the door had broke from all the years of opening and closing the freezer door. The harness seemed a little tight for my liking so I soldered in extra length and its all good now.
Nice video. Thanks. Will see what I come up with before my wife makes me buy a new fridge we probably don't need but hey, she's the boss or I'll starve to death.....lol
I changed the connection on the solenoid and pressed water. The water came out of the ice machine tube. Do I need to change both solenoids or can I just use the water one to run the ice machine? Obviously the water in the front of the fridge does not work and I am ok with that for now. Seems like a silly question but your video helped me get to that point 😊
Any tips on getting that tube out with ease ? I can see ice clogged in it but i cant twist the damn thing off from inside or out. Any tips would be appreciated
