Watch in amazement as the Samurai shows the culprit behind a noise complaint with this Frigidaire stacked laundry unit. It requires a little bit of disassembly, but sometimes that's necessary when you know what to look for. Also, the Samurai finds the sneaky cause of a problem where the dryer wouldn't turn off.

Hey Samurai Repairman... Thanks for the great video which will ultimately help me decipher the squeak within my mom's washer/dryer combo. Very much appreciated and better than some of the other videos I've looked at.

Very good video on this stacked washer/dryer repair. Can't find much videos on stacked unit repairs which can be challenging at times.

Replacing the bearing on a Kenmore requires access to the back of the dryer. There is a backing plate and ball that need to be held on the back in order to screw the new bearing in place. I used a piece of tape to secure the ball from the bearing side until I could get it secured. Like you said, I could not replace the drum without removing the top of the dryer. In fact, I could not remove the drum until I removed the three bearing screws. It would have been easier to remove the top of the dryer prior to removing the drum. I loosely draped the belt over the drum before inserting it back into the bearing. I could then reach in and, while holding the tensioning bar, run the belt around the motor and tensioning pulley. After replacing the upper drum guide and felt , it was difficult to put the front panel back on. I first removed the door and then worked from the top, screwing the top corner screws in loosely and then worked the drum into the front panel. I discovered that the felt (Seal-basket lower) was in decent shape after I disassembled the dryer, but put the new one on anyway - since I had ordered it.

Mine doesn’t screech, it’s just loud like it has too much in it but it doesn’t. I don’t know how to really explain it but it’s not screeching loud it’s just loud like it’s heavy. It works, turns, & dries very wel for an older stack but It’s frustrating to even turn on. :/

Wondering if the drum bearing itself just pops out of the socket? Or is there a screw or something holding it in. I don't want to just rip it out but I can't find information on how it's removed.

What is that black block peice called that screw into the bottom of the top panel? Its in the middle. Doesn't show in the diagrams. Is it a shipping block for the dryer?

How does one disassemble the dryer buzzer on a Frigidaire Stacked Laundry-Commercial Heavy Duty - Super Capacity - Sound Silencer - 3/4 HP Motor - Gallery Series? It is so frickin' loud that it literally will cause my entire family to jump each and every time it goes off. Please help.

Can I do this job from the front of the machine or do I need to pull it out of the corner?
@AppliantologyOrg
@AppliantologyOrg 6 лет назад
Yes, you'll need access to the back to mount the retaining plate for the bearing cup.

why not just add more grease? I'm assuming its a silicone based grease, an automotive brake caliper slider pin grease should work fine.

@@seamonstersounds Screws that attach the drum to the flange were loose. I took the drum assembly out and tightened them. No more noise.

Really great info. I am wondering if I can squirt some lube into the cup without full tear down? What do you think?
@aw8897
@aw8897 10 лет назад
Usually the cup makes noise because it's worn down, just finished doing mine and replaced the ball bearing with a kit that's about 26 bucks which comes with grease, lub, new hardware, ball and bearing.
@AppliantologyOrg
@AppliantologyOrg 10 лет назад
Andrew Wilson Hi Andrew. As Aldreth stated, replace the rear bearing and cup assembly for the proper repair that'll last you for many years without having to bandaid it along.
@andrewwilson9494
@andrewwilson9494 10 лет назад
SamuraiRepairman Yeah I was afraid you would say that. : ) It is in such a tight space (stackable) and it is only me and I am not sure that I can muscle it out and disassemble, repair, and replace without major back pain or worse. But you have given really good advice. Do it right rather than bandaid it along.
