Silverstein again they are so good 1. My Heroine (fan favorite 12 millions views) 2. Discovering the waterfront (slower song) 3. Giving Up (more emo than heavy and from their 1st album)
Giving Up definitely! I remember blasting it on my aunt's house and she thought it was brutal death satanic metal. Haha kinda ironic the song is one of their softest and most melodic releases to date.
Saosin - You're Not Alone Saosin - Seven Years Thursday - Cross Out The Eyes Brand New - The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows Taking Back Sunday - Make Damn Sure Taking Back Sunday - You're So Last Summer Taking Back Sunday - This Photograph Is Proof Aiden - Die Romantic
Yes I definitely was hoping to see Aiden! Die Romantic is fantastic and quintessential emo for sure! I hope we can push this out there since it seems like more of the familiar emo bands are getting his attention.
Memories in a song list. I just got chills. I still listen to it all but to see it written out, I just got so many flashbacks to shows and memories. Thank you.💗
I still think Sonny has the most beautiful voice I've ever heard, you should listen to "Emily", I was blown away by his singing! And definitely try stuff from their next cd "Heroine", it's more refined and really well made, I suggest maybe "Afterbirth"? Anyways, I got here by accident and your reaction to one of my favorite bands from my teenage years just made my day!
@@JennSCHWA according to Matt, Derek wrote most of the lyrics and song titles whilst the only song that was written by Sonny was Emily and he also recorded the guitar parts.
Matt Good, their guitarist now produces records for modern metal bands you've probably listen to on a daily basis. He was the lead singer for 2 albums after Sonny left. Self titled deserves some love and it's still my favorite from them. Spencer from Periphery also joined them for Dead Trees album which is tad heavy. Sonny Moore came back after 11 years for 2 singles and 2 reunion shows. I wish there was more. They're literally my heroes.
He started this band and they put out 2 albums then Sonny aka Skrillix had to have throat surgery so he couldn’t sing. That’s when he started doing Dubstep until he got his voice back.
while I dont disagree that he had a huge impact on their success. Heroine was ahead of its time..Your statement was false/misleading. But hey I enjoyed that project for what it was and I enjoyed most of their stuff after sonny as well.
@@IIsneauxmanII Okay Mr. keyboard warrior. If I recommend FFTL to anyone I’ll recommend they listen to “note to self” off of dear diary and not anything off of that ep cause that’s a different band.
An emo rapper (lil lotus) started a band recently called If I Die First, I highly recommend their song Burying a Parent Edit: it's not rap, more Emo/Screamo?
From these tears. You think you’d learn over these years-good things won’t last forEVER! Loll sorry I can’t- I have belted this song on more than one occasion 🤣
Oh man this is great. This was one of the biggest songs around when I was like 13, these guys were basically THE emo band before MCR blew it up into the mainstream. I can still hear groups of people singing it in the streets where all the little metal kids used to hang in my town. I'm 30 now and looking back on it it just makes me laugh, probably the first time I've heard it in 15 years.
New to the channel! FFTL is one of my all time favorites! Here are 5 more songs from other artists that were heavy rotation for me back then, that aren’t heavy. Senses fail - Calling all cars The used - let it bleed Thursday - signals over the air Thrice - artist in an ambulance Saosin - Voices
The Beautiful Mistake - "On Building" (2002) Matchbook Romance - "Promise" (2003) Further Seems Forever - "The Sound" (2003) Armor For Sleep - "My Town" (2003) The Audition - "You've Made Us Conscious" (2005)
I know this is an older video now but so glad to see you give them some love on your channel. They were one of my #1 top favorite Emo/Post-Hardcore bands back in the day and were one of the more heavier styles of it. They had a bromance with Fall Out Boy when they were touring too which you can find lots of videos and pictures on the Internet about. Even though they kinda dropped off of popularity for a while, they do still make music. You should definitely check out and/or react to some of the stuff off of their albums after this one 'cause they did put out some bangers. After Sonny left in 2006, they got a new singer who is just as good if not better who also sings for a band called Periphery. I never did keep up on the Electronic stuff that Sonny did after this but in the album after this one, you can hear some of that start to creep in. Either way, he's a talented guy and I wish more people knew about this band here 'cause they're plain awesome. Another band that's a little Poppier sound-wise but very similar fashion-wise is Aiden. Nightmare Anatomy is a pure classic. Lots of bangers on that. Keep doing what you're doing, Hoopsick!
After Sonny Moore quit, they continued on with Matt, the guitarist taking over lead vocals, and eventually Spencer Sotelo from Periphery doing a record as the vocalist before Sonny came back in 2016.
SOME CLASSICSSSSS The Used - The Taste of Ink or The Bird and the Worm Saosin - You're Not Alone Senses Fail - Can't Be Saved Three Days Grace - Animal I Have Become or I Hate Everything About You Taking Back Sunday - MakeDamnSure
I could tell you were vibing hard to that double kick. I listened to this about 15 years ago for the first time, and I still throw it on every now and again.
Armor for sleep- car underwater, scary kids scaring kids darkest hour, drop dead gorgeous- dressed for a friend request, a skylit drive- hey nightmare, where did you get those wings, brand new - seventy times seven, story of the year- until the day I die, ,Thursday- artist in the ambulance, afi- girls not gray, sunny day estate- seven,,the academy is- about a girl, Aiden- the last sun rise ,alesana- ambrosia ,the almost- say this sooner, bayside- sick sick sick, eyes set to kill- dairling, hey Monday-homecoming ,saosin- seven years, the audition- you’ve made us conscious ,good Charlotte - boys like girls ,jacks mannequin- dark blue
Travis Richter their guitarist was also the vocalist for The Human Abstract for a while as well. Spencer Sotelo of Periphery did vocals for these guys for a few years too.
The video is of a mental institution, but is talking about how we are all trapped... trapped in our own head which is a mental institution of our own making. It’s people that are normal looking on the outside but trapped in a place they can’t get out of. The video has a very “hotel California” vibe to it. It matches the “I need to get away from this scene” “I need a break in routine” from the song.
Saves The Day - At Your Funeral The Early November - Ever So Sweet Bayside - Masterpiece Further Seems Forever - Snowbirds and Townies (Chris from Dashboard Confessional) Spitalfield - I Love The Way She Said LA
Sonny obviously quit the band but he did a couple more songs with FFTL a few years ago you might like. He also did a live show too, super cool for him to do that.
Dude we have the exact same facial hair. I needa get a hat like that xD .. blank hoodies look good on me too lol. And white/black/grey shirts bahahahaha
It's hilarious, the whole "Sonny Moore is Skrillex" thing, because I purposefully don't mention that whenever I introduce someone FFTL, and then I tell them AFTER a few songs. It blows their goddamn minds lolThe looks on faces is priceless. By the way, after Sonny's departure from the band, Matt Good, the one in the video that's got the super emo hair, playing guitar on the left of frame on stage, is the one that took over lead vocals as far as I know, which is actually kinda odd to me, because I saw them live in early 2008, and ALL of the lead vocals was done at that show by Travis, the guitarist with the short hair 2 colored to the right of frame. Even weirder is, around the time of Sonny leaving, the ONLY info I'd heard, was that Travis was the one taking over vocals, so it was weird to read that Matt was the one that did.
From first to last Slipknot Eminem Sleeping with sirens Senses fail Black veil brides Falling in reverse Skillex Silverstein Saosin Underoath My chemical romance Pierce the veil
This album came out when he was 15, his voice changed as he matured and he couldnt sing the songs anymore, he was having other singers come out and sings parts during tours towards the end and the he went solo and called himself sonny, put out a couple tracks then became Skrillex
Gotta check out Dashboard Confessional if you want some sad as whiny emo music. Mostly acoustic if I remember correctly. I never listened but my older sister was a big fan all through middle and high school.
Funeral Diner - We Become Buried Partly based on that it would be interesting to see a reaction to something on the other side of the spectrum of what is called emo. In other regards I wholeheartedly agree with everyone asking for reactions on any song by Thursday!
