Judging from the box art and the "amazing" degree of detail on the cockpit, this seems quite of a vintage kit, isn't it? What a radical transformation the one you put it through!
@BasicModelling
@BasicModelling 2 года назад
Yes, very vintage.. but I do enjoy these old kits and they are a refreshing traditional way of modelling, without too much worry.. :)

Nice work Rob. I always did like that jet. I just like the way it would squat on the runway, and run around the skies like an insane knife fighter. Great job!

As an ex Jaguar man the one thing with all models that is slightly wrong is the Aux air intake doors on the side of the engine intakes. These doors were spring loaded and were actually always closed with the engine stopped. it was only as the engine power was applied that they started to open, sucked open by the engine power. If your model is built representing an aircraft on the ground the doors should be shut. Also as they shut down the flaps would be lowered. The undercarriage doors would be opened on the ground by the ground crew with a switch just forward of the port undercarriage. Canopies were rarely shut during the day unless there was bad weather , in a hangar or HAS they would always be open.

Thank you... I have since built another couple of Jaguars, with the same flaws.. :) But now I know... :)

@@BasicModelling The airbrakes were always open on the ground, left open on landing, the left hand airbrake bay had the micro turbo starter in it, the right hand bay had the refuelling connection. Even if closed on the ground for maintenance reasons they were always reopened.

The two-seat training version looks much better than the single-seat Jaguar. And I think that Frog captured their lines pretty well! I had almost forgotten that the Jaguar was supersonic... :-)

Lovely model! That is one of those planes that never really spring to my mind when i think of the RAF or the French airforces, but it seems to be a very significant type. The Tornados and Mirages seem to be the more famous planes in their respective airfoces :)
@BasicModelling
@BasicModelling 2 года назад
And now the Tornadoes have gone from the RAF as well... and I don't know if the French still fly any Mirages. :) I like the Jaguars, I had the pleasure of seeing some 'in action' at RAF Coltishall quite a few years ago.. :)

Been contemplating getting this kit, as it seems the best of the older kits! But external stores are lacking sadly
@BasicModelling
@BasicModelling 3 года назад
Yes, unfortunately.. but even some of the more modern kits lack external stores.. I had to buy both resin fuel tanks and extra bombs for my Hasegawa Jaguar in 1/72.. haven't builtmit yet, though..
