Great idea to make a blanket out of the super bulky yarn. That’s how everyone learns, unraveling projects and starting over, so don’t feel bad.

This is SO COMMON with crochet. It's got such a learning curve. You're doing awesome and persevering with it

that's what i love about yarn - if you make a mistake it will forgive you when i have an unsure amount like that i make a granny square blanket out of it - i think that would work with a filet style stitch DC, chain one, skip one, DC -blanket is still warm but less bulky

Except chenille yarn. You can maybe get away with unraveling it once (if you do it carefully), but more than that, nope.

Nothing like a nice relaxing crochet day, heaven knows we could all use a few. I have to unravel my work all the time, I'm such an experimenter and honestly it doesn't bother me that much unless I'm doing it specifically as a gift

Frogging is totally normal and can be quite satisfying. My mum used to come running whenever I frogged a project because she wanted to do it. Lol 😂

Everything you’re experiencing with crochet/knitting is perfectly normal, especially since you’re a beginner. But keep with it and you will be able to look a pattern and see how to size it or how many balls of yarn you will need. But this is why I love crocheting, it’s so forgiving and being able to start over is so fun.

That yarn is a gorgeous colour and I’m sure it will make a great super-cosy blanket. I’ve got a bag of yarn that has been unwound from abandoned projects, now I just need to get going with actually reusing it for better projects. I think it must be fairly common for people to realise the yarn is wrong or realise they don’t actually like the original project enough to finish it.

When estimating how big of a blanket you'll be able to make out of something you're frogging, you can look at what you have crocheted in terms of square feet or meter, and work backwards. measure the pieces and add it up. if the pieces you are unravelling add up to (lets say) 9 square feet, you'll have approx a 3x3 blanket. Another way of doing it is using a stitch that uses slightly less yarn to make it go further; instead of a solid single crochet, try a moss stitch (crochet 1, chain one and skip one) and and remember to make the edge solid. It also makes for a less dense blanket. Another way is of course to start from the middle, like a granny square, and just keep going until you run out of yarn. Good luck and keep going 🧡

You could use it to make a mat of some sort. Use a slightly smaller hook and slightly tighter stitch. Maybe a door mat or a cozy mat for Kona!

Watching your vlogmas about crochet while crocheting is a real joy ❤ I'd like to add that although I am familiar with crochet, as a beginner Tunisian crochet learner, frogging became a regular part of my learning process too ☺ I seriously recommend a yarn winder though: it makes a huge difference..

Thanks for continuing the vlogmas. I am really enjoying your days. It’s nice to know that we all have less than perfect days. Keep at the crochet! Your stitches look awesome! 😊

Frogging your crochet is super common, not just for beginners. Especially when you’re going pattern-less, which is more fun anyways.

If you don’t have enough for a reasonable blanket, maybe a floor pouf?

I could see using that type of yarn to make a rug

Love that color of yarn! The blanket is going to be so cozy.

Recommendation for your crochet project - try a corner to corner blanket. That way you can keep increasing until you reach about halfway through your 4th skein, then start decreasing and you’ll not have much waste or have to guess at your yardage.

This makes me really interested in crocheting. I have a lot of low energy days and I always feel so unaccomplished during that time.

Go for it! It made my down time more enjoyable once I got the hang of it. There are so many great tutorials for beginners on RU-vid!

Chunky yarn seems best for a blanket compared to a wearable!

I don't know why I always find it sad seeing crochet projects disassembled like that 😥

Crocheing and frogging is the thing I do best when I see the stitch I missed two rows bellow 😅 if you want to make a shawl there is a channel "ophelia talks" she explains a very easy pattern for one. I made one as my firts big project and It looks quite nice

that right there is blankie yarn and nothing else- thought if that's a skein and a half and you have 9 balls, that's a sixth of the finished length so it's still gonna be a pretty narrow blanket

Good for not giving up. Did you follow any type of pattern for the wall hanging. I really like the design of it

That colour will look so cosy on a full blanket, looking forward to seeing the finished product at some point! I've noticed some other crochet videos in my suggested videos sidebar (influenced by you!) and one of them (@costecrocheting9515) featured crochet book covers. That feels like the ultimate Sea Lemon crossover project. :)
