@@FroggyShave I don't think it is necessary to use this stone with nagura asano :) It should be used after JNat, as a finishing stone with its own slurry, as an escher. I wrote to you about another interesting French stone, but yotube deleted the comment, apparently because of the link to ebey. Do you see this comment? IT must be visible to you
@FroggyShave
@FroggyShave 3 года назад
@@om6ka yes indeed, it can definitely be used on its own after other stone progression, JNAT or others, I could definitely see LA LUNE be a good final step after a Shapton 12K (gives me an idea for a new video :p). I just had the time to see the comment about the other FR stone, never heard of it to be honest, but I'd be happy to test it one day!

How does the edge compare to that off of a Belgian coticule? I'm really curious as I have a Les Latneueses coticule that puts a very keen edge for a coticule like a 12k to 15k stone.
@FroggyShave
@FroggyShave 8 месяцев назад
I haven't tried a cotticule yet but I'd say this stone is more around 10k

Froggy, I saw the stone on Adverts. I was wondering if you still have it? I tried to contact you through there, but it is difficult. If you haven’t, after a Koma, use glycerine and water on this stone for 10-15 laps and try the razor. Anyways, I am down in Cork…

Hi, Sorry sold this stone. I kept my most favorite: Nakayama Lv5++. For the value, it's not a bad stone at all but prefers a lot the JNAT.
@sametmaxudov8119
@sametmaxudov8119 2 года назад
@@FroggyShave I love JNATs too. I have few. I have some Cuticles, Thuringian and vintage and new La Lune. The edges on the last two are almost identical.
@FroggyShave
@FroggyShave 2 года назад
@@sametmaxudov8119 always been interested in trying a Thuringian. What do you think of it?
@sametmaxudov8119
@sametmaxudov8119 2 года назад
@@FroggyShave if you get it right it is a great edge. If you overdo it, it is too crisp. Lately I have been using it as a prefinisher to JNATs with great success. The edges are very comfortable and keen. A friend uses an Escher with slurry and claims it is the best edge ever he has gotten. He has used Coticules and JNATs before.

Hello...I know it's been a long time...but can I ask your honest opinion regarding the difference between these LaLune and Black Shadow stones? I am gonna choose either one...
@FroggyShave
@FroggyShave 2 года назад
Hi Rich, If budget is not an issue and the choice is between these two, I'd go for the biggest La Lune. IMO it's easier to use and provide a better edge finish than the black shadow.
@richardng3736
@richardng3736 2 года назад
@@FroggyShave Many thanks for your reply. I will then aim for La Lune as per your recommendation & no worries if the stone is not satisfactory it won't be your fault..hehehe. I could only go for the smallest since I do have a budget and the shipping is also quite expensive...I am from Malaysia and now only maintaining my edges using pasted balsa strops...can be uncomfortably sharp...hahaha

how does it shave after this stone? how does it feel?
@FroggyShave
@FroggyShave 3 года назад
Well, that was the most surprisinh part, although the edge under the microscope didn't look better than the Koma edge, the razor gave a very good shaving quality. I would say the feeling is better than a good quality synthetic stone and only slightly not as smooth as a very good JNAT. So, for the price, this stone is a winner IMO.
