We definitely need a story on Ja Morant. His story is like something you’d see in a basketball movie, just unbelievable. Went from no offers to NBA all star
I would have drafted him 1st overall, I knew NOLA made a mistake doing that. And yet, the whole front office was jumping for joy when they drafted him. I saw this coming…
@@kevinfinnerty8414 it's also a FACT that the Grizzlies set a franchise record 11 game win streak once Morant was back in the lineup, winning 14 of 19 games🤔🤔 but they're "better without him"🤣🤣
He maturing into his adult Body, he ain't getting That weight off easily. It's a fight against nature for him. There's a reason players like him aren't in the NBA. Stop comparing him to Barkley, whom was built more like PJ Tucker when he was young (that was considered huskies back in those Days).
It’s the opposite actually. Dudes like Kevin Durant were maturing into their adult body when they came in. Zion’s had an adult body since he was like 13.
@@historybuff1017 No Sir, It doesn't work like that. More developed than Average 👍🏿, but the end of HIS Maturity 👎🏿 Your body consistently changes resulting in Death...unless he has Sword and mentored by Sean Connery.
Zion can still come back. I mean in high school when he was like 260 pounds the dude was jumping 50 inches in the air. If he can get back to that it’ll be scary
He’s damaging his body the way he’s treating it. Not sure if he’s already done too much to ever reach his physical HS/college potential even if he decided to start caring now. Speculation, bc I don’t know his medicals. But he’s sustaining preventable injuries if he treated himself right
He has money now, incentives gone, he loves food more than he wants to be a great basketball player. Think he’d like to buy restaurants more than make the Hall of Fame. Life decisions, what a talent, hope he wakes up.
Biggest Hype Job of All Time...there a reason players like him aren't in the NFL. There are more athletic player his size playing in the NFL, he just has a more refined 🏀 game.
Lebron avg 27 PTS 7 Rebs and won state in Ohio vs Altar a school known for football and has a few hundred kids per grade it isn't Division 1 the biggest schools in Ohio. Zion avg 36 & 13.
He always made me think of Shawn Kemp, slamming the ball emphatically and playing so explosive. I was hoping he’d at least have had more time before he just got too heavy though. Kemp got too big as well, but at least we got to see him fly in the NBA for awhile. Hoping/rooting for Zion to turn it around.
I never thought about that that’s a great comparison only thing is Kemp got big late in his career it was already over for him but Zion too young he needs to get in shape
@@gradyjackson1492 Kemp was also 6'10, a weak side shot blocker on Defense and Actually Dunked over 7footers. Nothing like Zion. Are you'll 12 years Old?
1000000% with you on the RJ Barrett take lol. Never forget the game in ncaa tourney where Zion basically didn’t touch the ball down the stretch cuz RJ was trying to play hero ball lol
BTW- yes, that is my real name. And my Dad did have game back in HS... but that was the late 1950s, and, even then, there wasn't much of a market for 5'10" power forwards. :)
I think he’s doing what Khawi did in San Antonio. He’s taking his time and will come back when he feels ready. I think he won’t miss a step and will come back even better
Zion is efficient because he dont shoot how could you not have a high scoring percent if all you do is dunks and layups thats why he hurt the nba players wasn't havin him coming in over and over he started getting hammered in the paint
I've seen it before... some people have just been burnt out on the game they play for a while, like, since high-school in some cases, and they just want to get to the pro level, make some money to take care of their family and them for a while, and just get out. I think that's the case with him.
Zion is overweight in a league where health and endurance is almost a protocol. He's not really NBA mental just yet. The NBA is a different world from college...
I used to live in Spartanburg SC. He used to go to Spartanburg day high school. Lines were insane for those games. If u didn’t get there right after school let out ur not getting into the game.
zion is from my town and i saw what he did at his games. he was unbelievable, but also kevin garnett is from here as well and it seems it will end up with him being the better player in the long run.
People need to compare Zion to Kenny Lofton Jr. Kenny is a sophomore at Louisiana Tech. He is listed at 6'7" and 275 lbs. Kenny looks 300 lbs to me he is not a high flyer but guys be bouncing off of him. Kenny might make it to the NBA.
A couple things, back in 2016-2017 I don’t remember anyone ranking Zion ahead of RJ coming out of high school (looked at the ranks: Rivals 5, 247Sports 7, & ESPN 2) dude had massive hype, definitely the most of everyone that year, but it was a pretty consensus rank that he wasn’t the top prospect of the time. Two, I think it’s pretty clear what’s going on, he just flat out doesn’t want to be in New Orleans. You could literally see it on his face that he was majorly disappointed when New York didn’t win the draft lottery, he’s doing everything he can to force his way out of town/sabotage his stint with the Pelicans. But hey that’s just my opinion.
Even tho some of them are cover stories but as a former athlete sports puts a lot on ur body imagine running jumping etc all day everyday they can fix broken bones and pop hips back into place but the damage is still done and injuries are often recurring...
Honestly zion may just be depressed. I mean basketball is all he's ever known and now hes hurt. He might have lost himself and just started eating alotta good food. Im abt his height little bigger i weight abt 40 pounds less then his listed weight. Honestly thats what i did when i was told i couldn't play sports. I've since bounced back. But i hope nothin but the best for the man. A solution when he does comeback if he has a weight problem may just be helping him design a diet of healthy things he'd wanna eat
If you have been following Zion’s career so far You know that their have been a lot of rumors about Zion not loving New Orleans and wanting to go to the Knicks. So a running NBA conspiracy theory is that Zion is purposefully staying out of shape so he doesn’t need to put miles on his body so he can eventually play out his rookie deal without signing a max extension, taking the qualifying offer and then leaving the Pelicans as an unrestricted free agent.
You read my mind. I definitely think it all has to do with wanting to end up in NY. I don't expect to see him play much or at all. Which stinks because he's a beast. I'll be watching the Knicks roster closely around the time Zions contract with the pels is nearing its end.
Ppl could always exercise the upper body and core when they have a lower extremity injury. Being injured doesn’t give one an excuse for getting out of shape if that person of a professional athlete. I don’t care if he is a big guy and eats a lot, weight gain comes down to the macros.
Kinda get the RJ hype in college seem like he was going to be a bigger Jimmy Butler and Zion took a lil brother role when it came to him playing with RJ and RJ was the leader of that team
I am from upstate SC and was actually living in Spartanburg when Zion was doing his thing there. It was insane and ive never seen that kind of hype around a high school kid before iml.
Larry Johnson…….Dontonio Wingfield………Junior Burroughs……….Even Barkley……….Would bed to differ with your “no one has even seen this before” stance…….Go do your research……
Dude isn’t close to 300 pounds. I’m only one inch shorter and just as muscular in my upper body, (not as thick as him in the legs) and I weigh 245, and I’m not in the best shape right now either, prolly 20-25% body fat. Id guess he’s 270-275 tops. He was never 260 in HS. He was 240 tops. Dude had abs. He wasn’t 260. Shaq was only 294 pounds his rookie season, he wasn’t that slim, was built, and has 6-7 inches of height on Zion. Come on.
Zion was athletically better but rj is a pure scorer and a naturally gifted basketball player. Zion is not Zion could’ve played any sport he’s an athlete he just strong as hell, quick, fast, can jump out the gym, just a pure athlete. RJ wasn’t a risk, neither was ja. Now look Janis n the mvp talks and a sure win for most improved players this yr. he’s actually the favorite. I just checked FanDuel today. Rj has been a problem for every opponent. Rj gets better with time he’s never decreased. Zion wasn’t even better than cam reddish. He was a number 3 option at duke. Rj, then cam, then Zion. Which it’s how it should’ve been. Zion will be out of the league n 4 years. I always told ppl he’s cool to watch but he’s not an asset to any nba team let along weak ass New Orleans. He should get his jumper together and just become a role player. Hell he will never average over 12/5/5 against in his career… see ya in 4 yrs
Way to damn early to be judging dude yall did the same bs with emiib before he even touched a nba court & he made yall look STUPID give zion time before the judging start 🤷🏽♂️
I want to a doctor apt one day stepped on the scale and it said 399!!!. I said what??? Look, I had no idea I had accumulated so much weight I felt my clothes fit me, but I had turned into a giant phat azz. So, I rely that because my understanding is Zion isn't around becausse his look and condition is laughable. They are procting him from ridicule. I say barkley aand shaqq busting a gut with zion doing work on the practice with a great big giant behind. zion has to get all the weight off. Even if he cam manuver like you said sooner or later that motion is going to break something. I stopped watching Pro basketball a long time ago and I heard about zion and I wanted to see what the hype was about. I wanted to watch basketball again with him playing. when e got the NBA nobody could stop him the biggest and meanset dudes couldn't stop him And you say he had a foot injury got a needle? Saounds like he got a shot of steroid to help the healing. Problem with steroids is they put weight on you. So, you wondering about his motivation, I don;t think you know eexactly what he doiing. I remember he wanted to g o to the Knicks, but he got issues now. I hope we see Zion get back to his game. he was a great player and basketball was his game.
The reason why RJ was ranked ahead of Zion was because in Highschool when team Canada played the youth team USA RJ dominated them and Canada the gold. Zion didn’t even play tho.
I believe why Zion is so special, he is so athletic even with his height and weight. Me I'm 14 and 5'10 which is only average for basketball but I'm already slow as a turtle
I don't see him being his old self anymore. Just look at the way he walks, his knees is suffering. Forgot trying to get back on the court. Please fix your walk. My uncle had the exact same walk and it ruined his knees that spread to his hips. 3 surgerys later he now mostly moves around in a wheelchair because the pain.
I thought it was obvious what would happen to him. 300 lbs. hitting the floor from 3 - 3 1/2 ft. over and over is hard on the body. He needs to drop serious weight to not be back in the same boat.
He relied on his strength and weight height over the common highschooler so he was a man among boys, problem was, hes needed to weight train or cut down some or strengthen his ankles calves legs for that big upper bodh but hasnt even in college, such took a toll on him...even when i seen him in clips in college or nba im like he needs to lose weight
