Gungrave remains one of the most unique anime made to this day. No other show can blend sci-fi and crime like Gungrave did all those years ago.

Gungrave is my favourite anime and it's so underrated. I love the dynamic between Brandon and Harry: Brandon represents loyalty and sacrifice, while Harry is the contrast representing ambition and control. Both suffer as a result of their beliefs and their friendship is seemingly shattered, until Brandon reconciles with Harry in a last stand to correct the mistakes of their pasts. If Gungrave taught me anything is that its important to have balance. If you choose Brandon's path you will be unhappy and won't be able to pursue what you desire in life, but if you act like Harry ambition and power will consume you until you are left with nothing and become a shadow of what you once were. Gungrave means a lot to me as it helped me pursue what I want in life while also remaining grounded, and valuing the people who are important to me.

I've never seen an artbook that has so much practical information in it. Not just the interviews, not just the character art, but the backgrounds and set design are ON POINT! If you want to know what game studios look for in a game design portfolio, that book has some stellar examples! It's not just about drawing the characters or backgrounds, but you need to draw with programming in mind. Highly recommend the Gungrave artbook!

I had Gungrave Overdose when I was 9 Years Old. It was my first experience of this series and it stuck with me for years. In my late teens I watched the anime and played the first game. It is definitely one of the most favourites series of my life.

gungrave is a part of my childhood, It has began when I was 10, someone's bought me the gungrave overdose and it tooks me few years to finishing up the game. I don't even count the number of hours of capture, joy, energy and madness spent on this game (easily more than 3000hrs. I was nostalgic by watching the anime years later when I've heard those wonderful soundtracks and melodies, it brings me back memories from the past when I was a young kid enjoying playing overdose... Can't wait for gore release !!!

I absolutely adore blood blockade. The joy I got from it was unmatched it's so wholesome, fun and creative. Everything about it is just amazing

The best videogame adaptation I've seen. It's not a high bar by any means, but Gungrave made the standard sore up high into the heavens. The plot, characters, and music made this something very special. I'm annoyed at myself for not finding this video sooner as I have been keeping an eye on this series throughout this year. I appreciate you making this video, Blue and aid in spreading the show's quality to others. Quite a diamond in the rough, but it didn't give me a bitter ending, rather a happy ending. c;

Gungrave has been such an experience for me. I started out with the anime cuz it happened to be on a sale and looked interesting. I was pretty much hooked throughout, going out my way to marathon it and even brought a friend into the experience. Then when I was done, thoroughly impressed from beginning to end, I looked up more about it and discovered it was a game before it was a show. Then I got into the games and retroactively appreciated what the anime did with adapting a series I was able to find a lot of fun with. Can't wait for G.O.R.E.!

Honestly, the Gungrave anime is easily is one of my most favourite anime. It blows my mind that only so few people heard of or watches the anime. It's a true hidden gem that I hope more people would watch it and appreciate the story and characters of gungrave. Thank you for making a video and talk about the series.

Man, to think that a new gungrave game is being made this year. Wild isn’t it?

The idea that GunGRAVE is meant to be played for the everyday salary man is something I wish modern games will bring back. Don’t get me wrong I love games like Yakuza and Final Fantasy, but the ability of enjoying a game that can be played in a few hours without feeling burnt out is much needed in life.

i didn't even know they had a game, i saw the anime back in the day at my boys house. I liked it a-lot. Saw the Trailer For Gungrave Gore last year and I was like I'm buyin that. Then came across ur vid looking up the release date. Great vid I learned so much about this series i didn't know. I thought it was a manga that became a Anime... Like most mangas but.... I've played the games since I was a kid, and still have them for the PS2. That being said, the series became a distant memory until recently, where I delved back into playing the games, saw the trailer for the new installment, and even finally bought the Gungrave Archives. Your video essay is the perfect spoiler-free summarization of this black sheep trifecta, and manages to accentuate the highs of the series while also acknowledging the lows (and unlike most people who are vocal about Gungrave, you actually have nice things to say about OD, which I appreciate because I actually prefer the sequel to the original.) With G.O.R.E on its way, hopefully the world will be able to get a well-deserved glimpse of the stylish soul behind Beyond the Grave, who is without a doubt the single most badass videogame protagonist of all time... In my heart, at least!

I remember i went to the DVD store to get some new anime i never watched, i picked two series together, Berserk and Gungrave...and i remember they were both so similar in themes and feeling, i was so emotionally drained after that week of binging both of them. Gungrave is a tall order if i saw them as almost equal.

Absolutely love overdose, have the figure, feels good at the ending, played through dozens of times with all the characters, it's a relaxing release for me after my work week. Yes I still play on my PS2. Late to this vid, but kudos to this upload 👍🏼

omg i just finished the anime and I just realized I _almost_ played this game last year when I was rlly into ps2 emulation! It was on my list of titles to check out but I just never got around to it for whatever reason. I watched the entire series without making the connection, let alone knowing the series was adapted from a game

I picked up Gungrave at a used game store way back and I loved it, but talk about a button-masher! The carpel tunnel was worth it tho

I'm someone who got into gungrave with its newest game G.O.R.E. and as someone who has strong memories of being absolutely awful at Bayonetta, kicking ass in MGR, And loving the hell out of Helsing ultimate's aesthetic bc of the abridged series. Playing a game where i get to blast up a criminal syndicate for points with guns that looked like if Happy Chaos's Crescent moon had two babies with Alucard's Jackal as well as several tons of "It's not a big deal" rwby edition to swing around. Yeah, I got hooked.

You put alot of time and effort into this and it shows. It's really good and I know that being a small creator making long videos can seem like a waste but this is REALLY good. Keep at it I hope gungrave gore helps out with the algorithm

I really enjoyed watching this! Gungrave was one of my most favorite memories from high school. Even though the anime and the original video game had long since premiered, I got to experience for the first time and it has inspired me in so many ways since.

Gungrave games are unique form of beat`em up with guns (for lack of better term). Closest which also comes to mind is 10 000 Bullets ( a sorta Max Payne clone).

You can tell the anime had a impact as most gungrave games after the anime released were considered sequels to the anime not the original game.

still think its CRAZY that the final level in the first game is so much like dmc3's final stage (the one with all the boss replays). dmc3 came out after gungrave, so i think thats pretty cool. maybe dmc3 was inspired ;)

Yo i never knew Lord nightow was the creator behind some of my favorite anime's, And characters in general. As well as stories that induce the water works 🥲 I'll be checking out Blood Blockade Battlefront, And so stoked for GunGrave Gore!

Me personally I always wanted to see gungrave made by Nightow as a manga where he just creates the story all canon again. Don't get me wrong, the anime is still great but too short. I hope a manga comes out someday.

Bought gun grave gore and I love it

I never got a chance to play the original games, by the time I had any interest in them they were already super rare. and I didn't care that much for the anime, mostly cause it spent way too much time in the flashback stuff instead of seeing grave "kick their ass". I'm currently playing gungrave gore and for the most part I'm enjoying it aside from a couple of levels filled with really cheap deaths.

I never played this series and I dono why. I love Trigun and DMC games are my favorite…this feels like a mix that I always overlooked. I’m just sad I missed out. I guess I’ma watch that anime since it could be hard to track down the older games nowadays.

Howdy! I don't know if you'll read this comment, but I recently finished watching the Gungrave anime. And I'll admit, I loved every episode, I think it's easily on my list of favorite animes. But there's one thing that bothers me a little, which I thought you were going to comment on in your video. Well, I know that the anime is a Japanese product from 2003, and this probably wouldn't happen if the anime were shown today, but the fact that Harry dates Shery, Bear's daughter, bothers me, due to the big age difference between them. he has. They started dating when she was 15 and Harry was already over 20, in fact, this happens when Shery was already 12 years old. And I'm not going to lie that this bothers me, since the show shows this as something "normal", and no other character questions it during the plot. I don't understand why the creator did this, but anyway.... Other than that, the anime is great.
