It is time to leave one of my favourite small towns in the UK, Kidsgrove. As a boater it has all the shops one needs, the people are very friendly and it has one of the best canalside pubs ever, the Blue Bell. This short trip takes us from just below the top lock at Kidsgrove, through Harecastle Tunnel stopping at Westport Lake for a short visit, and on to Etruria next to the Toby Carvery where I restock and try to get a few jobs done, including editing videos.

There are 3 pieces of ladder, and they get moved around, depending on the piece I used last, will be on top.

I only fish catch and release. It is actually illegal to take fish out of most waters. I am also not sure I would want to eat them from the canal anyway.

Well done mate another stunning video from you ... over the years I have only travelled through hare castel tunnel a handful of times.. Maybe it's me but it seems to be getting lower in height .. these days.. As a marine engineer Trev please try not to over fill the engine with oil .it's one of the worst things you can do to any sort of engine... Engines are designed to run at a certain oil pressure any deviation in the pressure could potentially blow the oil seals... which will end with massive repair bills... My humble advice as always been about oil levels if in doubt pump a bit out... the same thing can be said about the gearbox...you won't know about the seals blowing until it's to late Because the engine is always covered under the floor .. the first indication you will have is when you have a sudden drop in oil pressure ..or the warning light comes on... By that time it may be to late the damage will have been done... This is why I have said this .. but I'm sure that you are fully aware of this.. Anyway Trev keep yourself safe and well mate....

I stupidly checked it probably before the engine had warmed up enough. The old scenario of being in a hurry. When I check it again when it was warm it was no more than 1mm above the full mark on the dipstick. I actually ran that day with the dipstick out to release any pressure and after a 2 hour run it was back on the line. When I thought about it afterwards as well I think when I checked it the second time I might have been sitting on the bottom with a slight tilt in the boat and the dipstick was on the side the boat was tilting to, so it might have been good all the time. Anyway the next time I checked it was good. I normally when topping up I leave it a mil or 2 under the top of the full mark to allow for any extra expansion.

I've watched your past videos of this same trip through Harecastle Tunnel, but it's a new experience viewed through the GoPro 12. Resolution is much sharper, and the colors are deeper. Great stuff, Trev! I look forward to a tour of Titanic Brewery! Safe cruising!

The Titanic did not happen. There were no moorings at Middleport and it was raining so I continued and I have done a walk to The Holy Inadequate brew pub. I had a couple of beers and I did view the brewery through the window.

The hottest May was from the s BS as well. I looked up where this temperature was recorded it was from the Stevenson screen located by the runway at Heathrow.
