Welcome back to Pathways, everyone!
In today's video, I'm very happy to share a conversation I had with Mr. Jarrod Sio of the Sarawak State Education Department.
Jarrod was a student at Cambridge University where he completed his degree, transitioning eventually into teaching and joining the Sarawak Education Ministry.
I found his story on LinkedIn, was tremendously inspired, and immediately reached out to chat with him.
In this conversation, you'll learn a ton about the work of the Sarawak Education Department, Sarawak's recent move into English language education, and many other wonderful things along the way, as Jarrod shares his experience at Cambridge as well as the work that he's doing at this point. You'll also hear a discussion about the Malaysian Education Blueprint (MEB) 2013-2025 and some of the complexities within - how well is Malaysia doing with its educational initiatives? Can it do better? All of this and more within!
You'll learn also about the importance of the English language as well as Sarawak's educational leadership on this front as we go along the way. We also had a chance to talk about the Malay Dilemma by Mahathir Mohammad, about insecure high achievers, and many other things as well.
Thanks so much for the conversation, Jared, and look forward to catching you again soon.
