Thailand is beautiful my son and his Thai wife have been living in Pang na, not too far from Krabi for the past 25 years… They have a beautiful home with lots of fruit trees that’s where she grew up so she’s been there her whole life and now they have a Durian farm with over 800 durian trees starting small and now they’re about 8 feet tall in a few years they’ll be huge producing lots of fruit so they got a pretty good life there you just have to budget because it gets costly … Making an irrigation system, organically spraying the trees having people to help farm the land. But if you’re determined, and you want to make a go at farming, you just have to set your goals and go for it. Good luck your friend Ryan.
Thanks for visiting with a fellow Canadian. Tough luck for him and his family for sure. I’m looking at the Maha Sarakham area to settle in a couple years.
I think there's a good reason why foreigners are not allowed to easily own land. Nothing against anyone looking to work and raise a family but if you're a foreigner you're not entitled to land. Wade and his family are blessed to have lived the lifestyle they have and pretty sure as a business owner and "boss" they will do fine moving on to their next adventure. Not even sure how Wade makes his money unless he has a work visa, they are living off savings, or he still earns income from businesses elsewhere. Either way, entertaining vlog Ryan.
Thanks Ryan for another interesting vlog. I know how Wade feels about having a development right on his doorstep. We bought our land (2 Rai) in the middle of nowhere about 25km from the centre of Khon Kaen with the intention of having a small house with a productive smallholding. Initially there was nothing but rice fields around us but within 2 years developers have moved in and built houses up to and including our boundary, which we are now in dispute over. It's a long story, but basically, because there are no planning regulations in Rural Thailand, you can never guarantee that the land around will not be developed and the builders will just move in without warning! God bless 😀🙏
Very interesting and certainly a different perspective to consider. Thank you for sharing. I hope it all works out for you all. My heart breaks for the Burmese workers living in those huts in this heat.

Hope they find some land to purchase soon so he can start some fruit trees! Always bumps in the road and the pandemic was a big one for many. Wishing you and yours all the best sir
Bit of a sad story for a fellow Canuck like me, but wish him well for sure. Saying that Phuket is definitely not for me. The mushrooms look delicious! Good story Ryan!
Love your channel, thanks for always sharing with us 🙏 (At the 19:55 mark, i believe he said 9-10 million baht per rai but the pop up says 2 million baht)
great video ryan! definitely need a little more rural for me. also for anyone with immune/skin issues like psoriasis, mushroom extracts (esp reishi) is life changing. I use 4 different mushroom extracts as well.
Ryan, I've watched albeit silently your vlogs and I have to say you are by far the best vlogger in Thailand. Hats off to Wayne, but sadly it's not worked due to developers doing what they do. Don't get angry, just move on and go again. I've been to Thailand many times and adore the place, it's people and it's culture. As for a fruit diet, I'm not sure, I think you have the better balance of fruit, lots of homegrown vegetables and chicken for protein. One day when I return, I'de love to stop by for a short while and partake a beer and a "4.20" smoke to share your wonderful life. My dream is to create a similar life like you are setting out for your future, but I have challenges to fulfil first as this will create an easier less stressful path. Love the fact Wayne is keeping his kids away from TV (I binned mine 10 years ago, my mates think I'm weird!!!) and mobile phones, they'll thank him in the long run. Thank you. And good luck to your Wife and children.
I think the developer won't have it easy if they're trying to sell pricey villas in times of a global economic downturn.. Central banks are tightening credits, prob till post 2030..😮😮
You can get 30 year leases and those are pretty safe. But it's good to sus out what can happen on the surrounding land. Ideal to be surrounded by protected or unusable land.
@zachhessler8722 Thanks Zach. That certainly does sound a better option . It takes enormous courage to embark on such a venture. Real pioneering stuff. But so sad when the wheels fall off . That said it does sound like he has the knowledge and experience ( and youth ) to strive forwards. Wish him and his family nothing but the best. 🙏
Hey Ryan, great interview I got a lot from it. Pretty sad what is going on around his place but he seems to be okay with it. I was wondering how much longer before he has to negotiate a new rental agreement? I'm sure he will have to pay more because he has improved the property for them. If he's going to move he should start finding property to buy up north of phuket. Some of those areas are a little cheaper. My friend inherited 4.5 Rai of land and we are going to develop it as an aviary and big garden that will feed us. I have some ideas of bring in some different types of plants that you don't normally see in Thailand. If I had more land I could do so much more. I'm gonna stop working when I turn 80 so I better move fast because that only gives me 4 more years. LOL
He's going to have to find a majority Thai stockholder in his company to buy land in Thailand. Foreigners cannot own more than 49% of a Thai company that buys land in the Land of Smiles. But anyways, his family is probably better off leaving that site. Rushing water from that reservoir perched above that village would sweep away their house if there was ever a disaster or accident at that levee.
I guess that’s why you need a planning office or some serious money to buy your way around. Glad you showed those mushrooms being cooked, I might give it a second try, had given up on that furry thing since there are so many better tasting mushrooms out there!
I wish you asked about him and his family visa, cuz apparently he is not married to a thai and he does not work fir a company so no work visa, no family visa, what kind of visa does he have? Is it a business visa maybe?
Good lifestyle plan but a poor choice of location! There is so much more land in more remote areas, that cost less all over Thailand. Any rented property is always temporary! Buying lands as a foreigner is not a possibility. A 30-year lease is the best option.
Hi Ryan, I don't want Wade to stay near a labor camp. because there are often incidents of lost items or assaults around construction worker shelters because there are people from many places And sometimes it is not possible to verify the origin of these workers.
Interesting conundrum with wanting to buy property or land and not having a Thai wife? Wayne mentioned that if he could afford to buy land in the future, I wonder what he meant?
so what's their visa situation like and how are they able to stay long-term seeing that both of them are farang and are obviously under 50.... could they be staying through elite?
Adopting a fruitarian diet is not safe as a long-term dietary strategy. Restricting your diet to such a limited range of foods means you are unlikely to achieve a balanced diet and are at risk of malnutrition. Nutritional deficiencies: Fruitarians frequently have low levels of vitamin B12, calcium, vitamin D, iodine and omega-3 fatty acids, which can lead to anemia, tiredness, lethargy and immune system dysfunction. Low calcium can also cause osteoporosis. It may be extremely difficult for fruitarians to get enough protein, although nuts, seeds, and grains can be valuable sources. “I would even recommend fruitarians include some beans.
@@mixalis6168 Leading cause of death among vegans is heart disease!! Heart disease is the #1 killer in America, and more deadly for red meat eaters. Plant-based diets are associated with a lower risk of incident cardiovascular disease, cardiovascular disease mortality, and all-cause mortality in a general population of middle-aged adults. Research indicates that a plant-based diet is the cornerstone of healthy longevity and potentially the most important prescriptive tool to help patients achieve a longer life and better quality of life as they age.
Sadly life isn't rosey but Wade seems pretty resilient with it and all the very best to him and his family. Thank you for an interesting vlogging. And nice looking mushroom dish 😋🙏
He is a good and smart Man, he is going the right way with God and the fruit eating is the original plan from God. He can get very old, if stay on with fruits , Water and Vegetables
He will get old quickly on a fruit base diet full of sugar don't matter if its natural or not. I didn't know a fruit base diet was a thing. It would be interesting to know what supplements he's having and what's in his protein drink? 🤔
tell your friend to go for raising fish (ปลานิล ปลาทับทิม) or raising chicken. the other option is growing plants orchid monstera philodendron fern trees as mass production
I think anywhere commercial or tourist location is going to be very expensive and more risky to make a homestead. I just moved to Thailand and like yourselves did it during covid 3 years ago. I'm lucky that my wife has land that we are building on. Going to plant more fruit trees today and continuing to build my house. Shame I hope it goes well for you and your family.
