Heidi, you are amazing! I was born with Spina Bifida. My parents were told up front, "Don't treat him like an invalid." I am super grateful for that. 60+ years later I can see how God has blessed me, even when Medical folks are reminding me that, "You should be dead." Be blessed!

The mindset is the most powerful thing a person can have, and Heidi is a shining example of that. I spent 69 days in the hospital and nearly 7 weeks on life support (ventilator) do to covid. I woke up Thanksgiving Day and demanded to be unplugged and discharged from the hospital. Well I got my wish 2 weeks later and went home. Had learn to walk again and rebuild my body, but 8 weeks later, I returned to work. Something I was told probably wasn't going to happen. My doctors are still dumbfounded by my recovery.

When I read about your accident I immediately prayed very hard for you, marcus, your children and your family I prayed so hard I but I knew you were going to be all right whatever alright meant. What you can do to give back is exactly what you're doing. At one point in my life it was thought I would never walk again and I thought no. With the help of wonderful a week before ChristmasI took my first two steps with a walker and proceeded to walk for the next 20 minutes. My therapist was in tears. I gave back as much as I could by continuing to and walk. I hope Marcus will film you giving the finger to your M.D.😅 you gave great gifts doing this podcast.Just to watch the look on Heavy D's face showed how deeply your strength has affected not just him but all of us listeners Thank you Heidi.🎉❤😅

On the negative thoughts coming into your mind, I heard a good tip recently. When the bad thoughts come in wither out loud or in your head say cancel, cancel, cancel and replace the thought with a good thought. It helps stop that bad thought from going any farther. I don't usually listen to podcasts but I keep coming back to your keep up the great work. I also have a story about coming back from an auto immune disease. It's a lot of work. So worth it. Keep up the great work and attitude Heidi and guys!!!

I was watching your podcast and the only thing that I can offer to Marcus and Heidi and you and everyone of Sparks motors is prayers. I wish I had the funds to help. Yet living on a fixed income we can hardly afford anything that is needed. I am a veteran and I am having to use a power wheelchair because of a stroke I had 6 years ago. It is hard to get around it is hard to do things it's even hard to get into our 2013 f-150. Yet you find a way to do what you have to do. Having an attitude of gratitude is what everyone should do in their life. It makes life worth living even this Heidi said that being grateful for waking up in the sun shining it is so important. God bless you all and Almighty heavenly Father please allow Heidi to do everything that she was able to do before her injury. Please allow Marcus to really find an attitude of gratitude and of acceptance for when people want to help. To be grateful for their help even if it's just a person saying prayers some 3,000 mi away. God bless you all pastor Mark Nowakowski

This one was a great listen. My wife had an electric scooter accident on March 9, 2022. Her knee buckled. I got her out of the road and back on it so we could go home. I loaded her up and drove from our Herriman home to the Riverton Hospital. They couldn't find a pulse on her foot. They didn't have a vascular trauma dr on call so they had to lifeflight her to Murray hospital so they could restore blood flow to the leg and save it. They filet her leg open and took a vein from her thigh to make a new artery to feed blood to the lower leg. Then they had to staple her leg back together. 53 staples total! All ligaments in her knee were torn. Much later in the year, they had to take 2 cadaver hamstrings to build her a new ACL and she had a major MCL repair. It's been a very long road with Drs dragging their feet, etc. Late last year they even found a blockage and had to run balloons in her replacement artery and the one that started growing back. Most of our family is 1600 miles away but people in Herriman, Ut took care of us. This podcast is very accurate on the thoughts and troubles on these painful trauma incidents.

Ed says Nothing happens to us, Everything happens for us, and there's a third part that I tell myself which is, not everything is about us. Heidi and Marcus are prime examples of not everything is about us, that's why they can respond to emergencies without being overwhelmed with panic. I love to see it. Great show. This one is going to echo through time. Now people will know to tell themselves they know what to think when they are going through terrible situations, they know to talk positively to themselves and to work at recovering every day. Before hearing this, they didn't even know that was an option.

Ive been looking forward to this one! When you guys were talking about the voice in your head and being aware of your thoughts, thats called "mindfulness". Being mindful of your thoughts, why you react to things in a certain way, etc, helped me through an alcohol problem. My best friend(37) had a stroke while under for surgery, on Dec 4th and we were all told he was paralyzed and may never wake up. Within an hour of that doctor telling me that, I got my buddy to nod and shake his head in a direct response to questions. One month later and he can move one side (arm, leg), swallow, and has even been able to speak. Stories like this are an inspiration and keep me positive. God bless.

Whoever decided the Brand name for the liquid food that he had going through his nose, has a sense of humor. When my buddy was awake, couple weeks ago, I looked at his feeding bag and the brand at the top was "Kangaroo". "Cole, they're feeding you liquified Kangaroos!!!" His eyes went super wide, and he tilted his head on his own and looked up and back at the bag! Such a great feeling. He didn't remember it the next week, so memory is a concern.

I have gotten a lot out of this podcast one thing I really didn’t realize and you are absolutely right each little thing that you accomplish is a step forward and you’re not looking back at what happened you’re always looking forward to getting further than you are at that moment with a positive attitude And I had forgotten about that. Thank you for reminding me to always look on the positive side. I try looking on the positive side, but I look more towards the negative then the positive. This is open my eyes to what I have to work on throughout the rest of my life and I appreciate it and applaud you for what you’ve gone through in the positive things that you still haven’t reached yet. Thank you very much.

The fact that they're wanting to buy this machine and get it to this company to be able to help. Not just themselves, but other people is incredible secretly. I think I haven't finished the pods yet, but I secretly think that Dave will probably find that for them cuz Dave is an incredibly kind human being as well, so we'll see after this part ends or I can say secretly. What Marcus needs to realize in a relationship , if he is not talking to his wife about things or his feelings she senses or feels it and then has to fill in what he is not talking about ,it is allot better for her if he communicates and talks about it because she does not have to try to figure or guess what he is feeling , he helps by telling her exactly and that makes it easier and better on her!

I agree it's probably not going to burn in Heidi at all to tell her what's going on in your mind. Marcus. I mean she is your partner for life. If there is anyone that you should be able to open up to, it's her. So I agree 1,000% on all this and I see both sides of all of this as well. I see Marcus's side. I see Heidi side and I see Dave's kind of in the middle where I am. I can't. We understand both sides of it but sometimes it's me and we have to understand that we have feelings and that is okay. And your partner is that person that it is okay with all of the time and I feel like sometimes we can hold too much in and it takes control of us and we are not functioning to 100% because of it. And there there that makes it a burden then cuz we're not at 100%

The human mind is a powerfull thing and we only understand and use 2-3rds of it and there is powers in it that some people can access that others can not and Hedi is one of those people and if they could have constantly scanned or monitored her brain from the start of her injury I think they could potentially unlock or understand more that could help many people. But mindset has allot to do with it. I have a cousin who was in a wreck brock her neck and they told her she would never walk again she had the same attatude Hidei does, she started crawling like a child does and taught her self to walk again they could not understand or figure out how. I think she willed herself to walk again. Years later she was in another wreck and this time they said this time she would not walk again. Again she did not accept it and since she had done it before I think she knew how and is still walking today and she is mid 50s, she never ran and is in pain but she walks to this day! So I wish you the best and i know by what I have already heard you will get there just keep moving forward and you will be fine! Great inspiration .
