I’m so nervous about my baby gagging too much or choking on finger foods and I didn’t know where to start with transitioning from purée (he is almost 10 months) but after seeing your video I now know that it’s so easy! I just need to pull out my hand blender and make a thicker consistency...once we are comfortable there I can transition to actual finger foods! I think I just see my friend’s babies moving onto finger foods so fast on social media. It’s hard not to compare sometimes, but I need to remember every baby is different and I will follow his lead, I want this to be fun and not scary or forced for either of us! Thank you for your video reminding me to stay present with my baby :)
You got it my dear!! Every baby is different and develops with a different pace. Comparing is human :-) but should not turn you down! Also remember that social media has an unrealistic filter and people usually post the good things about life. No-one knows your baby better than you, follow your instinct, it will be fine!!! Thank you so much for watching, ciao!! b
Thank you so much for this video! I know it’s old but ur advice and the way you deliver your message is so timeless and soooo calming. Honestly thank you, I’ve been doing this mom thing on my own and quite stressed about giving my baby Solids. After seeing some friends already feeding there babies and ppl questioning me I ended up putting more pressure on myself and my child which is so unnecessary. I don’t think my baby is ready and I just need to follow her cues. I burst into tears watching this! Thank you for putting me at ease! 💕💕💕💕
Same! My son is 10 months and I’m so nervous about giving him finger foods and yet a colleague of mine gave her daughter (same age) a whole shrimp. I definitely started doubting myself. Especially when almost all the videos on RU-vid show baby led weaning. I feel better after watching this.
Thank you so much for this great video. It helps me a lot. I was comparing my baby to others on social media. I forced my son to eat texture food which cause him to refuse to eat anything even puree food that he loves. It took me two days to just have him eat puree back. Definitely do not compare your baby to others. Every baby is different.
Great video. As a father of 7 month old twins (6 months corrected) I have been looking at lots of videos of weaning recently and this one really gave me confidence in a few ideas and made me feel like this is less of a sprint but a stroll we take alongside and develop with our babies. Thank you for making such an informative and helpful video for us that just need a bit more guidance and confidence. 👍
Great video, thank you. I have a 10 month old that has only just started eating. He hates the high chair and dislikes the spoon so I have to feed him sat on the floor with a little food on my finger. He only really likes textures that mush down in his mouth like bread or cereals. I must keep reminding myself to relax and move at his speed, thank you 😊
My wife and I have made much of the baby foods that we fed our kids. Thanks for sharing and teaching many great ideas and also for taking time to teach the stages of baby food consistency!
Awww, your comment made my day!!! The reason behind BuonaPappa is to share my recipes with all of you and release any stress or anxiety around making homemade baby food :-) I'm not a chef, I'm a mom and easy&simple is my motto :-) Ciao!! b
Thank you so much, this video is so so helpful❤️ there is so much pressure to just go straight into BLW and that really doesn’t work for us, so this is wonderful and gives me such a great way to transition. Thank you🤗
That's what I did . My son was choking on everything I tried so I decided mixing oatmeal into his puree and I make it a little thicker each week. Its been going a whooole lot better
I mix baby oatmeal with prunes and its my daughter’s favorite. She’s about to be 6 months, but she loves it and gets excited. She’s not ready for solids yet but constantly is trying to grab for my food. And the spoon and tries to feed herself lol
Thank you so much! Everything is baby led weaning right now and I don't feel comfortable with that! Thank you for talking about the traditional way. It's been so hard to find information.
One of the best video i have seen regarding - how to switch baby food from puree to solids.....thank you so much sister.....you cleared most of my doubts and queries 🙏🙏
Very helpful I have an 8 month of I felt he should be eating solids by now as I see other babies on tik tok some literally eating pancakes meanwhile my baby still on purées and mashed food I feel calmer now
Omg same. My baby is 8 months old today. I had to get rid of tik tok and remind myself that every baby is different and she will eat more solid like foods in time.
@@kendrajayde8080this is true just have patience she will eat when she’s ready❤. My baby is proof of that now he’s 10 month old and eats everything it’s like a switch one day he just started eating better & more
@@K.RAE_thank you for telling me that 🤍 My baby just started eating some egg and pancake but it makes me very nervous while she’s getting the hang of it. I have to remind myself all the time that she will do things when she’s ready. I’m so happy your little one is a big eater now. I’m sure it’s so much fun🤍
u explain so well. My son is 13 months he got his first teeth at 11 month and still wean a lot while eating. I see other parents and start comparing ...this is human nature now i am learning
Happy to find your video late but happy.mummies here my baby did not want to start food until end 7 months and at 10 months now he is slowly transitioning himself through mummy food
wow! I found your video by a coincidence and was totally blown away, as so many questions I been straggling to find an answer to online been perfectly cover here! very informative and helpful video, perfect tips and love your attitude and friendliness!! Thank you
Great video! Perfect explaining. My Baby is almost 9M and she has 6 teeth and I thought she is ready for finger food but I will wait. 😁this is the first video I saw and Subscribet right away! Well done✌
thank you so much for sharing vedio really helping vedio. my 9 month old baby just love puree. I was so worry about finger food but now I am satisfy. love you. 😘😘
Thank you so much for your simple to understand and follow videos. An excellent resource for both mother and nana! Excited to review earlier videos and as a new subscriber to have the benefit of future ones. Again, our sincere thanks from Heather (mama) & Frances (Nana).
How do you get pass being anxious about adding texture to your baby's food or giving the small pieces? I'm terrified of my son choking and I'm afraid my anxiety might be getting in the way of him eating different textured foods.
I feel the same. I’ve started with soft foods. Eggs, pasta, bananas avocado ect. She still makes me nervous sometimes because I can tell she’s not chewing as well as she should but she’s improved over the last week. She just turned 1, and now I’m struggling on what to feed her for breakfast lunch and dinner everyday. I came across this channel and I’m looking forward to trying some of the recipes.
Thanks for this great video! I have a question: as you said food development goes parallel with speech development. Does that mean BLW babies start speaking earlier than non BLW? I have 7 months old baby and I am still in dilemma whether to introduce finger foods at this stage.
My 7 mo baby girl loved purée when she was 4 mo up until now. when she hit 7 mo she stopped eating the purée, she gets fussy in the high chair and only takes a few bites and then closes her lips shut so I was thinking she’s teething or she doesn’t like purée ? But we made pancakes one night and I cut up the pancake the size of my index finger length wise and she just picked it up and started feeding herself, she ate the whole pancake, but she gagged and coughed a couple times which scared me so bad. I don’t know what to do or how I can give her the type of food texture she likes while it is safe also? Do you guys have any suggestions? It’s like she skipped from stage 1 all the way to the last stage. And I’m worried about the safety most of all. Thanks.
My baby is 11 month old. Still using stage one and sometimes stage 2. I did not know about this . Now it's very hard for me to change the texture of the food. For everyfood I need to use blinder...im very worried .
Hi dear.. am in the same situation with my 23 months old... Will u pls advise if u succeeded in getting ur baby on solids and how were u able to do that.. pls I need some guidance with ur experience 🙏
Hello! My son is 14 month old .. I tried lots of time to give solid food and finger food in between but he don’t like .. he likes puree form only and lay down on my lap.. he never sit when he take food ..what should I do ?? I’m so worrying.. plz suggest me
My baby is almost 1..and doesnt like to put finger food into his own mouth anymore unless its crisps. He grabs it and then squishes any finger food now in his hand and has been doing this for over 2 months and so I end up having to feed it to him myself. He tends to vomit easily with solids. Any suggestions or ideas that can help me progress him solely onto solids?
My baby just vomited everything out and he is 16months old, loves purees. I tried a lot to add texture to his food, little by little, but to no avail. I am all tearing up, knowing not what to do. This worries me a lot. Any suggestion will be appreciated. At his age, he should be able to chew and not gag so much on textured food. I have been following your advices on food preparations ever since my baby started on solids. God bless you.
Hello my dear, I'm sorry to hear your concern. Yes, it's true that usually at 16 months toddlers eat a more structured food, but it's also true that 16 months is not too late and your baby might just need more time. Does he eat purees only or at least some finger food (crackers/tiny pieces of fruit/cheese bites..) as a snack or separately from the puree? How is his overall development? Does he talk? There are very interesting studies about the food/speech relationship (this is one article as an example www.new-vis.com/fym/papers/p-feed8.htm ). If you are concerned about your baby/toddler proper growth, if your toddler totally refuses textured food and even finger food, my suggestion is to consult your pediatrician for further examinations. I hope I was helpful! ciao, b
@@Buonapappa I am pleasantly surprised to get a reply from you. My baby's overall development is quite normal, like, I know he is a late bloomer. My sister, brother and I was a late bloomer. And he is quite the same. He says the usual stuffs, dada nana baba mama, he likes to chew on white chocolate wafers, he eats the Heinz baby biscuits, he likes textures of muesli, but he gags on food that he needs to chew a bit more. I am not worried about his speech. Rather, i am worried about the fact that he swallows every time i put food in his mouth. And that's when he gags and vomits. Thankyou so much again for the reply. Love you and your work ❤
Hello my dear! it's my pleasure to reply. It's just that sometimes it takes a while :-) from what you say it seems a normal speech and overall development. Another suggestion I can give you - when you try with a more textured puree - is to let him feed himself. Try the double spoon method. He has one spoon and you have the other. You start offering him a spoon and encouraging him to do the same. Sometimes toddlers refuse food because they don't want to be fed, it's an early affirmation of independency. I really hope that's the case. Thank you again for watching and keep me updated! ciao, b
Hi, my baby started on purées with Organix and Ella’s Kitchens baked chips/crisps which he does just fine on but now at nearly 12 months he doesn’t prefer chunky purées or oats. He tries to remove pieces but instead prefers chopped up small pieces of real drier food like scrambled egg/bread and cheese. Should I keep offering the chunky purées before moving onto finger foods only? He just wants to remove any texture out of his mouth but does just fine with regular foods. Still too lazy for BLW or eating on his own as he prefers to be fed by me (isn’t a big eater prefers milk). Also, still has a very strong GAG reflex and gets stuck a lot with food - always been very sensitive since birth. What can I do about this?
Thank u so much.. Now m feeling relax.. Just bcoz my 11 months old baby doesn't take any interest im textured food.. She take only puree food.. Whenever i just tried she did vomiting... Thank u..
Every child develops at a different pace and there are no standards with feeding phases. Some children totally skip a phase, other children stay in the same phase for months and months. If your little one is enjoying her food and is growing I would not worry.
Hi madam..I'm kina..pls help me my baby 12 month old only eating pureed food..tried many times to introduce textured food yet still she would gag or vomit and nvr open mouth for the next bite..no finger food as well..I'm so worried that she won't learn to bite..she has only 1 upper tooth recently come out..pls help me..I'm desperate for a advice..thank you
I m very much tensed that my baby is 12 months old and he is not liking to eat chunky food ,he only want super smashed/ blend purée food , when I give him sometimes thick purée he vomited What can I do ?
18 months still purrees and some solids I give but not alone and never touches food like he is discusted... Big problem. When eating with game or music or video eats purees more than we eat. But solids just a bite.
Hi! Good question. Baby Led Feeding vs Purees. Both methods are great and work finely. You are the one to decide what works better both for your baby and for you. I would suggest to try in both ways and see how it goes. My babies were big purees fans, but I know many babies who totally skipped the purees and started with finger foods. Ciao!! b
My baby is 18 months old now. She swallows everything. She is not biting or chewing anything. I have tried a lot. She is not putting anything to her mouth not even her favorite toy. As far as I know kids start putting things to her mouth at the age of 5 or 6 months. But she doesn’t do that. I’m worried now whatever I give she just but swallows. When I try solids she refuses eating. Please give some tips. Thanks in advance
my son is 10 months and already has 8 teeth. im having the same issue where he doesn't want pure or soft but cannot chew properly. so he doesn't eat as much i think he needs to.
My youngest daughter was the same! But we knew she really liked the taste of bananas so we started to smash it up and then slowly transitioned into small bite sizes. Same with carrots (boil until they're soft and cut) lol we just went with her favorite purees flavors and we're still working on it with other textures lol and she has all her teeth.🤦♀️but Its helped us so i hope this helps 😀
I think u should try with giving her biscuits to bite. She may like it. Boiled potatoes imfingers dipped in a bit of butter. Let her hold by herself and eat. My baby is 8months old. I never gave him pureed form of foods. He now takes whole rice with spoons. Chews chapatties. Eats finger foods. Try it, i am sure it will work
Do you know anything about 2 year olds who cannot chew food, she just swallows it whole, she will eat crisps and biscuit sort of snacks but everything is at a 10 month level with her at the moment, do you know if this can be normal.. or not. Any tips would be great!
Hi! I can tell you that every child has a different developmental pace. There is not a standard timeline for food stages. Some children simply skip one phase or stay in one way longer than other kids. Still, if you are concerned I would suggest to consult your pediatrician. Sometimes (but it doesn't mean she is the case) food delays are related to speech delays, that's when a professional opinion is suggested. Ciao, b
Hi! no, it's not too early, some babies simply start with finger foods :-) Steamed carrots, sweet potatoes, apples, pears. Also, banana, avocado are a great option. The rule is that you should be able to easily mash the food simply pressing it between your thumb and index. That tells you if it's soft enough for a baby. I hope I was helpful! ciao, b
My baby is 14 months and still take puree and slightly coarse.....he takes coarse food like slightly forked rice but it has to have gravy......if its dry and creamy he chokes....... Its not about the size of food for my baby but it shouldn't be too dry He still cant do finger food
Hi! To be sincere there is no standard on how fast/slow babies should eat :-) If you see that your baby is fine with her fast pace and there are no consequences (tummy ache or too much air ingested) I would not worry :-)
Hi! Every baby develops with a different pace. If your little one is eating and growing normally, I would not worry. He will start enjoying foods with more texture soon. Try to offer him finger foods too in between purees, to get him used to more structured food. I hope I was helpful, ciao! B
Hi Sarah... will u pls share ur experience as am in the same situation now.. My 23 months old son is still on pureed food and vomits if we try changing the food texture.. Am very tensed and worried.. pls share ur experience on how did u tackle the situation and the current eating habits of ur baby.. thanking u in advance 🙏
My 16 months baby girl is not chewing anything with her gums. She only knows how to swallow mashed food. And when i am giving finger food, she is biting small chunk with her front 4 teeth and then swallowing that smaller chunk without chewing with her side gums n front 4 teeths😒 I want Solution for it
Mam my baby does not open his mouth when i try to feed him with solids. He is now one year old. I have to make lots of stories and show him birds so that he opens his mouth
Hello my dear, I'm sorry to hear that. From your comment it seems that your baby is a light eater, but with some creativity and effort from you, he is enjoying his food. If he's growing and you don't see any other symptom that worries you (not regular sleep, cries a lot, fatigue..) I would continue being patient with him: at one he's still very young and he's learning how to eat. Consider also that at his age teething is a big disadvantage that lowers the appetite. I hope I was helpful, ciao! b
Hi! I'm sorry to hear that, I know it can be frustrating. So, first of all, don't worry, soon or later your little one will start enjoying full textured food!! It's just a matter of time. Suggestion. Start slowly. maybe adding small pieces to the puree OR offering finger food. Sometimes babies like to feed themselves. Try this ideas and let me know!! Thank you so much for following BuonaPappa!!! ciao, b
I`m having the same problem with my 9 month old. Even soft mashed foods he hates. He has tried some of them several times and makes a weird face and then throws up every time.
Bailey Barnett I’m having the same problem with my 9 month old, how did it work out for you? Your little one must be 11 months now? How did you do it? Did he get used to it? She’s not trusting us with her meals anymore. I’ve gone back to stage 1
@@MMhellokitty2 He is now 12 months old, and has made some improvement but still isn`t quite there yet. He was refusing to eat anything that wasn`t baby puree, but now will eat mashed potatoes, baby cereal, and every once in a while I can get him to a few bites of the baby food with little bits. However, after about 5 or 6 bites of that he usually starts to cry and refuses to take anymore bites of the little bits. He is making progress, but it`s really slow. What I have been doing is just giving him something that he normally won`t eat every few days. If he is okay with it I start giving it to him more often but if he has really strong reaction i wait a little longer before giving it to him again. Poor thing had to have ice cream for his birthday because he refused to touch the cake. I think we just have to let them go at their own pace and make sure they`re getting as much nutrition as possible.
My god 😢 i feel sorry for my son he has just 7 days since he started his 8 month and am forcing him to catch finger food by his hands and eat it while the poor likes me to feed him 😭 he is till not yet for finger food 😫
