This video is a special recap on everything we've been doing for the last few months, which is the restoration of the cab of our Bedford Truck. So, you can either watch it all here in 20 minutes, or you can go back and watch it all in fabulous detail from the start by tuning into this handy playlist ... 'A New Home on Vintage Wheels':
www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ISU1
If you're one of our regulars here, well, we have a little treat for you: You get to live it all over again while we have a short break from filming! Lucky you! We've had a bit of a re-group at the workshop, getting everything good and tidy for the next round of work while we wait for our mains electricity (yes, that again!) to be installed.
We'll be back in a couple of weeks with our usual progress report, so don't forget to subscribe and hit the bell icon so you don't miss future videos and the continuation of this mammoth restoration and eventual build of our tiny off grid home on wheels to be!
Thank you so much for watching,
L&T
...
This channel is the story of us, Tim & Lisa, and our attempt to build the World's Greatest Adventure Mobile on the World's Smallest Budget ...
We are 2 'old enough to know better' artists from Cornwall in the UK, and together we are building an off-grid home on wheels from the remains of a 1975 Bedford Firetruck.
We bought the truck on eBay at the end of 2020 and had it delivered by an even bigger truck to a huge, old barn-on-a-farm we are renting to use as our workshop whilst we undertake this challenge.
It’s not the first time we’ve attempted something as daft as this … We once spent several years restoring and converting a 50 year old fishing trawler into a houseboat, so when we set out on this latest adventure, we told ourselves it would be a breeze …
Well, several months and a few set backs later, we’re currently in the process of ‘lovingly’ restoring the base vehicle, taking the whole thing apart, piece by rusty piece, so we can make it all new and shiny again, before we embark on the even bigger task of building a home on its back out of nothing more than grit, imagination, sweat, tears and possibly a bit of magic and wishful thinking!
Oh, and tea!
Subscribe to the channel and join us in our workshop and we promise it will be nothing if not value for money … it’s free, you see?
New video every second Friday. Grab a cup of tea, Subscribe and join us on our quest ...

Hello both. I hope you don't mind that I watched this episode sped up a bit as I used it as a re-test on what has gone before. I think I might just have scraped a pass. You two got top marks. Well done!!

Yay! All that work!!!!!!!! Well done, keep going. If you were doing either the film project (planning, filming, editing etc) or the restoration alone it would be impressive. That you doing both simultaneously a feat. The just rewards starting to appear on the horizon :-)

Hi 👋🏻 Thanks loads for following and subscribing. The restoration has been a long haul but we’re really making progress with the chassis now. Shouldn’t be TOO long before we can reunite the cab and the chassis and see the whole thing back together again! 👍🏻😎

Whats not to like about a TK/MK cab, they are an absolute iconic design. It looks like you are doing a fabulous job. I currrently have one chassis and three cabs, and a lot of new parts, some of which I have discovered will not fit my TK as they are actually for an MK, they will be looking for a new home at some point.

@@OldRopeSalvage not certain what the trucking is like in New Zealand these days, as I have not lived there for nearly twenty years, but I would assume there are still a lot of older trucks on the road, best regsrds from a Kiwi living in Australia 👍👍👍👍

Great job, well done. I am looking for a TK, MK or MJ now but not easy to find a good one at a reasonable price.

Thank you. Yes, we searched for quite a long time to find the right vehicle for our project. We got pretty lucky with this one. It was in reasonable shape, but there is always more work involved than you might hope for!

Maybe less chance of getting rusty in the Caribbean climate so great longevity on old metal.
