In a sense you didn't add much new information from the last video, but it adds a very useful perspective to see the hardware/physical side of things. For me, this mini-series mostly assured me, that I had the right plan all along. And that it will work once I get around to it. But I also feel this might have saved me some pitfalls, and sent my thoughts in the correct direction. Either way I found it an interesting and personable view well worth the time. And I'm sure it'll be a massive help to plenty of people. Also your music is awesome mate ;-)

Absolutely amazing! Learned a lot of stuff through this short series. I do have a question though. How would you set up a project if you didn't have the stems for a song? For instance, the instrumental of someone else's song? Thank you so much!
@rezzonator
@rezzonator 4 года назад
I would be harder to do without stems as you lose a lot of flexibility. You could still chop the track up into sections and launch those sections in whatever order you want but that would be about the limit of what you could do without stems

This is so useful -thank you very much. This really follows on well from the previous vid - excellent info. You are using your Minilogue for different sounds on different songs? When you are going down the session view, how does Ableton know how to change the sound on the Minilogue? Why aren't you stuck with the same sound all the way through your set? I do this with multiple instances of softsynths but I can't see how you do it with hardware? Many thanks and keep up the excellent work!
@rezzonator
@rezzonator 3 года назад
Thanks. I use a blank midi clip to send out a program change message to the Minilogue. Going to be covering this in my new series on my new live set. Part 1 is on the channel at the moment.

Very useful series, learned so much, thanks! Just wanting to know your thoughts on using the maschine jam vs push? The push seems like it has more going on and obviously works better with ableton, but are there any real disadvantages of using maschine jam for this sorta thing?
@rezzonator
@rezzonator 4 года назад
Not had any experience of Maschine Jam but I don't see any reason why it wouldn't do the job just as well.

Hey thankyou for showing this! I always wondered, how do you switch to a new track which uses an other hardware synth sound. You save the sounds on an empty pattern and let midi do the work, so when the new song comes in, you first manually select the right sound on the synth?
@rezzonator
@rezzonator 6 лет назад
alex vrijlandt yep pretty much. You can also send program change messages from Ableton Live via a midi clip to change the synth patch automatically.

Thanks for the song transition tips! It's not very easy to find some clear good advices on this. I've one question: do you have to bring all your "Project songs" into one "Project Mix" each time? What I mean is that usually one work with one project per song, so how to bring all these projects together for live mix without having to almost start over from scratch? (I'm not making myself very clear but I hope you see what I mean). And how do you handle midi controllers assignments between each track/projects?
@rezzonator
@rezzonator 6 лет назад
Pierre-Henri BOURDEAU I would usually create a new project and bring all the song parts I want into that one project so I have just one project with everything on

Thank you so much for sharing this! Very helpful and informative. Question, what stands are you using on your desk? Specifically your Minilog, laptop and System 1? Very beautiful and clean setup! Also, what sound card are you using?
@rezzonator
@rezzonator 5 лет назад
Thanks. The stands are just basic DJ style laptop stands...they work really well for synths the size of the Minologue. Soundcard wise O use the Roland MX1 mixer as my sound card. Works really well with low latency.

@rezzonator

If you were doing this within Ableton Live then you could automate the tempo in the master track and have it gradually increase over whatever length of time you want.

Hmm, i see only that you are sending MIDI notes to hardware and you play with different machines. But how do you change the patch on the synth that are you tweeting ? Surely, you do not have the same bass line on each song. Or, you make the patch on fly ? Thanks

Part 1 and part 2 of this video series we're both extremely helpful. Thank you! But I do have a question. Are you using the mx1 as your audio interface? If so, how did you get past the low volume the mx1 brings into Ableton Live? I have really close to the same setup as you but when I try to record into Ableton Live it's extremely quiet almost unusable. If you could create another video explaining how you actually get your recording into Ableton using all your live gear through the mx1, that would be incredible. I've been fighting with the mx1 for months trying to figure out how to get everything to work as though it appears you have..
@rezzonator
@rezzonator 2 года назад
Thanks for the comment. I will see what I can do. Never really had an issue with volumes etc from the MX1. I am starting a new updated series soon on how I play live so will try to cover it in that series.
@DjWuh
@DjWuh 2 года назад
@@rezzonator awesome! Thanks for the quick response! I was about to get rid of the mx-1 for another mixer but now you have me second-guessing myself. If you've made it work, obviously I am doing something wrong or I have a defective device. I would love to DM you so I could pick your brain. I'm guessing it's a setting on the MX 1 or a setting in Ableton live that I have set up different from you that's causing me multiple problems

@@rezzonator I'm using a PC. Seems as though no matter what settings I use I can't get the mx1 and Ableton to work well together. I'm able to get sound through Ableton Live well enough but when I try to record all the individual tracks into Ableton it never works out either everything ends up very glitchy or extremely low volume or both when I try to play the recorded clips in session view
