Major Taxiway Nomenclature Changes Coming to Santa Barbara Municipal Airport (SBA), CA. Visit www.faa.gov/sba for more information.
SBA will begin construction on or about April 15, 2024, lasting approximately 14 weeks, to improve various markings, signage, and lighting on the airfield. Concurrent with construction progress, existing taxiways will be renamed to meet FAA standards and to enhance pilot situational awareness. The project will present the following impacts to aircraft operation:
-SBA airport will be intermittently NOTAM'd closed from 0000 to 0500 local time. Pilots should consider this when selecting alternate airports for flight planning purposes.
-Incrementally, certain taxiway names will change overnight; for example, taxiway G will become taxiway A1. Numerous taxiways will be renamed throughout the project, pilots should remain vigilant when checking NOTAMs as they will change frequently.
IMPORTANT: Taxiway name changes will NOT align with the airport diagram charting cycle. It is imperative that pilots check NOTAMs frequently and listen to the ATIS carefully for any changes.

What a brilliant mini series. Definitely going to help a lot of pilots plan.

It is always good to see these videos before going to a new aiport, especially a Charlie. Easier to expect radio calls on what they want you to do.

This is so great. Thank you so much for putting this together. I'm just a Part 107 pilot planning to operate in the area with LAANC authorization, but this was extremely helpful to know what to expect in the area.

The "SE FBO" is now located in the facility close to the base of the control tower. There are no longer any GA services located south of RWY 7-25. For runups for RWY 25 from the north, I was instructed to use the expanded taxiway apron on Taxiway J just short of RWY 25 instead of the one depicted in this video off Taxiway D.

We don't instruct aircraft to remain offshore til 2 miles anymore for runway 25. Noise abatement is voluntary. 25 at taxiway C isn't Hotspot and they had the run up area for runway 25 wrong. Runup is just done at the hold short on taxiway J. Otherwise good though.

25 at C IS a hot spot (reference the airport diagram).

Absolutely no one, including ATC, calls US-101 "the one ZERO one freeway". Everyone calls it "the one OH one freeway." Although most of the time when I've flown to KSBA, ATC just calls it "the freeway". Know before you go!
