On 16th May 2000 we followed a string of 15 422 Class locomotives from Werris Creek to Merrygoen; part of the first leg of their trip to Broken Hill and onwards to Adelaide and new ownership.
For the record, the consist was 42210-42208-42213-42215-42218-42201-42214-42212-42211-42207-42216-42209-42217-42204 and 42219
Videos in the Along Closed Lines series were originally shot in 4 x 3 Standard Definition and have been upscaled to High Definition and reformatted to widescreen. They generally cover movements that can now no longer take place.

These locomotives were once a part of a great history. I hope that they put them in a museum. Love the horn on these locomotives.

It would be most interesting to know "where are they now?" I recall some were reactivated as the ARG "22" class, some were scrapped and some sold off to South Africa. You must have covered some miles chasing that lot, thank you for your effort, well done and an enjoyable video.

Thanks for your comments; I'm glad you enjoyed it. Yes it was a long day. We covered about 1100kms travelling from and back to Sydney with about 6 hours following the 422s. But it was a really enjoyable and worthwhile trip.

@@pndvd Glad you documented it for railway history. I liked the 422 class, better than the grubby and oily 442 class.
