In 1938 the US Army Ordnance Department was in need of a lightweight carbine. Winchester Repeating Arms played a large role in meeting this demand through the development of the M1 Carbine and the .30 Carbine cartridge. Originally developed for support troops this lightweight .30 caliber carbine saw action in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. With its history of use within military, paramilitary and police forces the M1 Carbine is a favorite among collectors and reenactors. Join Roy Hill as he shares a brief history of the M1 Carbine along with personal anecdotes relating to this iconic firearm.
