The new Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries DLC "The Dragon's Gambit" has arrived. Let's take a look at all the gameplay aspects, story, new Mechs and weapon systems together. In this playthrough we will start a new career as a Mechwarrior thrown int o a conflict against our will.

In the aftermath of the Fourth Succession War, the Davion/Steiner Alliance dealt a devastating blow to the Capellan Confederation, leaving First Prince Hanse Davion eager to replicate this success against the Draconis Combine.
Gunji-no-Kanrei Theodore Kurita, fully aware of the encroaching menace posed by the FedCom Alliance, has taken decisive action to fortify the Combine's defenses against an inevitable war. As tensions rise, a unique opportunity presents itself - to unite with the Draconis Combine and rally behind Kurita's audacious and unexpected plan.
Embark on an epic quest line as your mercenary company joins forces with the 5th Amphigean Light Assault Group. Together, you must defend the Draconis Combine against a massive invasion by the FedCom Alliance. Brace yourself for the largest handcrafted campaign yet, spanning 15 thrilling missions, and prove your mettle in the face of this formidable threat as you strive to safeguard the future of the Draconis Combine.
The gameplay of Mechwarrior 5 is split in two different parts. On the one hand you will have to manage your resources, hire new crew members, outfit your Mechs and travel through the Inner Sphere star map. But the action starts as soon as you get into the cockpit of your Battlemech yourself to fulfill contracts on the battlefield to earn more C-Bills and progress the story. I will review the weapon systems, battlemechs, show you how to build the loadouts and train your pilots and take a look at all the different mission types and upgrades of the MW5 Heroes of the Inner Sphere DLC.

The Locust is a trap. It always dies. I just remove its engine, and sell the mech. Put the engine in a heavier mech (Cicada), sell its engine (280), and buy if possible another mech (urbanmech or so)

I see the old House Liao start tradition of lose your Locust on the very first mission and don't get it back until several missions in, is still alive and well, even on modded. 😄The Firestarter seems like the way to go, but you have to pilot the Locust for the first few missions or at least play out on an open field where the light 'mechs can evade easier so you don't lose it for a while because it got cored out. As soon as I can find a Flea, especially a Flea-17, I usually put the Locust into cold storage to save for missions where the tonnage limits makes it so you can only take out a Lance of light 'mechs. 🙂 Also, when I start a new campaign, I usually like to start out in the northern Periphery. In Battletech lore, the people from the outer worlds are pretty much the only "faction" that aren't a-holes and dishonorable POS' in some way and well then there are the Taurians, but they're a different story. People from the northern Periphery are mostly just simple farmers, merchants, business people, etc and you can help them by fighting pirates too for some interesting fights and duels.

Mech Salvage v1 gets you parts for the mech and putting them together gives you a random variant iirc, v2 salvages the specific variants.

Great to see a new start. If you want to make it even tougher, then set yourself profit goals for each year of play. This can keep you under the same pressure that you experienced in the last DLC, where you are making choices to run with what's at hand and trying to figure out how to get things done with what you've got. It beats the "time doesn't matter" approach for excitement.

Being able to use the hold and trace pulse lasers from 3 is awesome! Nostalgic Sounds Redux - Changes a lot of how the mechs and weapons and environment sound! I've started watching this a few nights ago, first time coming across your videos. Love your relentless optimism, you're very enjoyable to watch as a result. One request, though - you link to your mod collection, but that collection is missing your load order and any form of instructions to actually deal with the incompatibilities in your mod list. For anyone wanting to "play along", that creates a bit of a barrier. If you could slap your load order in there and/or anything else you'd had to do to make things work - that would be mega appreciated by many viewers I am sure!

The Betty voice addons for lance mate breach etc can't be disabled AFAIK. The YAML leopard upgrade system isn't implemented yet (it does nothing, just a pretty picture).

Well, i restarted a career with all of your mod list, restarted 3 times already. Im getting my ass kicked and money is vanishing just fixing my mechs up. Watching this video made me realise that its normal and those mods made this thing super hard. Gona be a challenge for sure.

I actually completed a DLC#3 campaign playthrough using nothing but FrankenMechs & the Corsair Hero, & the last mission of the campaign - which is what I'm guessing Piranha used as the model for the Beachhead Defense missions in RoR - I BARELY had to use the repair bays, & the wind one only because of the hankering one of My AI pilots got after the first fallback.

When you were fighting that Flea @27:42 He ran into your arm and killed himself. Hooray for Collision damage in MW5 being able to kill your enemy or you. I got ran over by a Catapult walking backwards into my Hatchetman and it cored me just with the walking into me. It never shot me

That's pretty par for the course, in my experience, when playing Coyote's, with AI tweaks and under tonnage. It's a pretty harsh start, especially if you start default on cash and don't allow yourself to salvage whole mechs. These conditions also make the Urbie more terrifying than just about anything else you face on the battlefield as well. They have more armour than most Mediums you will encounter in the first few missions, on top of having a chance to spawn with an AC/10. A friend of mine was always made fun of Urbie's, because he was used to fighting them on MWO. Playing this showed him why you Do Not Curb the Urb. Also, Von Biomes sometimes is tricky for AI to navigate and they just run in to walls. Never helpful.

While I do enjoy Bara mech action one thing I wish he pay attention is the faction he’s fighting for and against, I know he want to make some quick C-bills and action but watching him throwing rep left and right especially at the early game where it’s so important for negotiation points it’s quite painful to see but I’m just here for the struggle 😂

I think your friends ran towards the Urbie at the end due to a pathing algorithm problem. I have noticed that in some tight squeezes through rocks with the enhanced Bio's that the AI can't figure out a path through and "goes around" instead.

Thanks for a new playthrough. I really enjoy your positive take and commentary. Though - It would be great if you could increase your general sound output. I've got you turned up to 75-80% on YT, my computer audio output at 75% and noise canceling headphones. It shouldn't be this hard to hear you.
