Thanks guys! You really saved my butt! I was away working away from home and our washer quit so I got on facetime with my son and walked him through the process that is on your video. It is safe for me to go home again (I think). My wife was not very happy with 4 kids and no washing machine. Keep it up!
For the folks who missed what kind of screwdriver you need, you need a "torque bit". The end of the tip is round with kind of a star edge. If you buy kits with bits, usually with a ratchet, torque bits are almost always included. I've never had to use one before but I'm sure glad I had plenty of them Today! :)
Thank you for the response on the video. I should probably add that if you have a lot of water in the tub you better have a bucket and many towels ready for the spill way your about to encounter.
Have a GOOD WET VAC - being sure to remove the filter. turn it on before turning the handle counter-clockwise, while opening valve slowly the vac will create a tornado like effect { be patient here} but trust me its worth the time, open a little more at a time till all water is out then remove screen and clean. I put a light coating of petroleum jelly on the rubber seal so as to insure a good seal while tightening the valve closed, run machine till you hear the drain valve open look for leak
My GE Hydro-Washer works fine, until my washer spin-dries! Then, after it quits spin-drying, it leaks 2 small streams of water into the agitator! So, I looked on-line and followed the steps on eHow, to reset my GE washer electronic chip. But, it didn't work! So, I am going to have to call a washer repairman!
Thank you soooo much! This video just saved me about $124 b/c I didn't have to have sears come out and fix my washer! Take heed on the advice about having towels handy b/c there is LOTS of water! Also, I couldn't get the thing unscrewed at first, but a pair of pliers helped tremendously. Once again, thank you!!
Thank you so much for this vid. I've been getting a f-21 error on my machine and it always use to short out. then we would have to start the wash all over again. Took about 3-4 hrs to do one load of laundry. I just cleaned it out like in ur video and it hasn't shorted out yet! thanks again!
Thank you thank you thank you for this video. Yours is the only one I found that shows precisely how to do it. I didn't realize there was a 3rd screw until seeing your vid and I wondered why the cover would not come off. Very helpful, thanks again
Thanks Jonathan!!! I was able to find the screws and never would have figured out the screwdriver head if not for your video. Once it was off it was super easy to find the clean out and it was completely clogged. You saved me a service call. THANKS!!
Thank you Jon, we had this same problem last year and it cost service fee$75 & that with American Home Shield Appliance Repair Plan. Honestly didn't have the $75 to fix it at the moment. Your video ace it! Thank you so much.
Than you jonathan. Your video helped a lot. We found money and sock in clean out. Saved me from calling an appliance repair shop and like Sage Calvin said get lots of towels to catch all that nasty water. Thanks again Jonathan
It worked perfectly! I'm the wife. Poor husband was too busy to help. Just be ready with a lot of towels or a container with a rather small mouth for all the water that comes out. Thank you so much Jonathan!!
I had this code, found your tutorial and did it yesterday. Took all of 5 minutes and saved me $250!! Just be really for the waterfall and the smell - my husband threw up, lol. Thanks so much!!
Thanks So Much! I did it myself and my husband was so impressed that I saved us so much money on the service call that I was 'going' to make tomorrow!!!
Good Morning, Devilkin4, If this is happening when you just start a cycle it could be any number of things. On the first part of the cycle the ccu runs checks on the components and unless it is throwing up a code it will be hard to determine what is causing the problem.
If this is happening in spin and your pump never kicks on then you will need to test for 120vac at the pump harness when you start it on drain and spin. If you get 120vac at the pump and its not coming on replace the pump and all should be well. If you don't then you will need to call a repairman to diagnose your problem for you these things are complicated without the help of a tech. or lots of working knowledge on front load washers.
Thank you GoodAppliancesSuperStore for posting this video! You saved me a minimum of $150 having to have someone come out. It was exactly as you said, seriously grody! But your video was easy, simple steps and that was my problem. Thanks to RU-vid for letting folks post DIY videos that are useful to consumers and save them heaps of $$ :)
Thank you. Couldn't have been easier to fix. My washer was full of water and cloths. I thought a belt broke or something. Found nasty old lint, about $2 in change, a tip tie and other randomness clogging the drainage pump. Googled matag epic z won't spin and this came up. Easy fix and now I know you have to clean the filter every once in awhile. Make sure you have bucket to catch a couple of gallons of nasty water.
Thanks for the insight !!! This worked great. Cleaning out the pump trap was just the ticket. Works great and I am sure I saved at least $125 and waiting for 3 days.
I was sceptical because i didn't think this would cause the spin cycle to slow down... but it did. I found 15 hair ties and a lego women... thanks for the upload!!!
This is awesome! Saved me the price of not only a service repair, but the pain of attempting to take the whole thing apart to try and find out what's wrong.
wow, I can't believe all the crap we found in our pump!! Thanks so much for this video...it worked! My husband was ready to run out and just go buy a new washer! Keep the videos coming!
