Currently on long term hire to the Mid Hants Railway, visiting from it's home of the Swanage Railway, 34070 Manston was another guest locomotive to feature at the line's Spring Steam Gala.
The locomotive is currently in a weathered condition, giving a sense of what it was like during it's busy working life. With the engine facing Alresford, it was a good opportunity to capture the engine from the front window as it climbed 'The Alps' to Meadstead. It was also interesting to film the front of a steam locomotive in a dirty condition.
On the day in question, light drizzle was in order causing the lens to get covered, but this didn't affect the soundtrack that Manston provided as it took on the lines steep grades.
