Probably will get better range with the external antenna I would think? Thanks for the great review! I bought a JumperT8SG V2 that I was going to use. Upgrading from the FlySky FS-i6,. But the one Banggood sent me will not bind with anything. I tried several quads on it and none would bind! Fighting with them now for refund. So anyways, I got this FrSky X lite coming from R.D.Q. . I think you can put different modules on it, even crossfire. I think I`m going to start paying a bit more and buy from USA dealers from now on. Banggood and Gearbest has sent me defective products to often! And they make it a nightmare to try to return anything! So Thank you for the awesome review!

From 3:50 to 5:12 when you set up the inputs, can someone please explain how they are associated with the arm, mode, beeper, and flip commands? I'm following along with my X-Lite Pro and I can't set the beeper. What exactly links your Input 7 to the beeper command? It is clear how the switch is associated with the input, but it is not clear how the input is associated with the command.

That could be antenna direction. Top and bottom is the place with worst signal. Your x9d antenna is raised up so directly above You is the worst signal. X-lite internal antenna goes from left to right, that’s where the signal is bad. if you turn your x- lite sideways with the sticks/gimbals pointing to the left then it is compareable (and awkward)

I must have gotten a faulty transmitter. This doesn’t work on any of my models. Very strange. I’ve never had a problem with binding before with spectrum.

You were just using the internal antenna, Perhaps your range will increase with the external antenna. Thank you Mark for the amazing setup and binding video, I am getting closer to having my X lite set up also. I will not fly until it is 100% set up.

Thank you for showing the X-Lite setup. It really helped me get my radio and quad going. You do go a bit fast so I'm not sure what each step does but now I can play. As for the difference in range, I am not surprised the internal antenna is not as strong as an external antenna since there is less RF interaction with your hands with the external antenna. Cheers

sigh, tried to follow this setup, you took like a minute on how to write the model name, then went to set modes and you were like pushing buttons so fast i had to go back several times to se what you were pressing. Edit: nah, gave up, omfg.

I’m not 100% sure, what you mean. But you can only bind a receiver to one radio at a time.

How do I get a correct rssi reading on my osd with the rxsr and gt200? My transmitter shows full signal, the osd shows 9... 🤔 I don’t have turtle mode on ch8, I’m using that for rssi, and aux4 in beta flight. Not sure what to do from here.

hi, im trying to set up flight mode with the switch as you, however in betaflight its only seeing 2 ranges - 1500 and 2011, when the switch is in the bottom position betaflight says 1500, when its in the middle position betaflight also says 1500, when its in the up position betaflight says 2011, so i cant get it to read say 900, or 1000 to set up the bottom position, help if you can thx!

Don 124 I never got an answer. I ended up entering it all manually. For turtle mode I had to make a momentary switch out of the left D-pad. It was pretty easy.

Sorry. I’ve not tried. You probably could could copy them to and sd card. But, all the switches would probably be wrong so you would likely have to go fix them anyway.

Hmmm. No lines for centering sticks. Even my very cheap FlySky i6 have them. Cmon FrSky this should be done allready in first version. This is allready third minus which I saw at this X-Lite session. It looks this model is pushed to be as soon as possible produced to the market.

Thank you for the comparison in range and i really like the series you are producing. I have two questions: 1. What do think how big the range of the x-Lite with the antenna of the x9d would be? 2. More of a subjective question: I’m currently using a Graupner setup for my radio, but it’s very expensive and too large for my drones, that’s why i want to switch to frsky, but now i don’t know if i want the x-lite or the x9d. I use my thumbs for the gimbals and fly 5 inch quads on mid range (maybe 300 meters). I want a good and portable radio, but i don’t know which i should use. Can you give me an advice? best regards Creatorone ^^

Wondering if the internal antenna is horizontal, such that the tip of it is pointed towards the far end of your test. If so, that may be the reason for the reduced range. Would be curious to see it with an external antenna in a more vertical orientation. Also, I didn't see a dummy load on the external antenna port. Is this because you have to turn it on in the software? If so, do you get diversity antennas? Or does the internal one shut off?

That was actually pretty good using internal antennas however, the real test will be using the external one as I don't think it's a fair comparison with the X9D without same external. Initial test great though, thanks for doing all this!

He removes the helicopter setting so that page is not on the radio. Just skip that page.

Just got my x lite and am slightly confused moving from an x9d+ I usually bind all my rx in d8 mode since it's lower latency. On the x lite though I notice that when I select d8 it removes the rx number option and failsafe from the menu. I then noticed that when in d16 mode and hitting bind it gives you the 4 options of which channels and telemetry on or off. Is using d16 but then selecting to use channels 1-8 the same as d8 mode?

D16 with setting it to channels 1-8 is actually what you were doing before from the sound of it. That new menu is confusing. I should do a video on it. Choose 1-8 and telemetry or not depending on your RX. Telemetry for everything except the XMs.

DroneRacer101 how I would I know for sure though because there's a pretty big difference in the latency between 16 and 8. What's the actual difference in d8 mode compared to d16 with only 8 channels? Wonder why the more expensive x9d+ doesn't have the 4 options when binding in d16 mode like the xlite does

"Sufficient" is going to be different for everyone. For some this will be more than enough. For others it won't even be close.

I wouldn't feel comfortable flying with such a weak signal. Sure hope an external antenna helps. I notice that I don't have this issue at all when using the internal antennas of the X10s, but that's not a fair comparison at all. Great video series, Mark. P.S. - please don't forget about the wireless training feature video... I'm really looking forward to that one!

Can you get the quad battery voltage to show on the main screen on the X-Lite? I've been looking for how to do it and can't find that option.

Unfortunately not. It is the same resolution as the QX7. You need an X9D for that.

Such a shame, there is plenty of space to the right of the Tx voltage, below the model name. It just doesn't seem like they are allowing editing that main screen. I did see that on the X9D the option is for editing the top bar and this does not have a top bar. Wish it was like the betaflight OSD configuration and one could choose where to put stuff. Thanks for the reply!

What length are your antennas on the quad and in the Xlite? I seen a video talking about the xsr length being to short but after making them 32mm they get a little better range.

No. I just checked. Under internal RF on Mode click and it is one to the right of D16, if you are running FCC firmware. Where are you located?

It’s pretty much the same. Just choose D8 on the first page. And you don’t have to select the failsafe mode.
