Just got one of these have to update the firmware if your running the latest firmware ACCST 2.0 from FrSky. You have to solder header on there and I used my external module on my radio to upgrade all my receivers don't forget to reverse the ground wire on one end or burn it up ext module header pinout is different. I will un-solder it and put the case back on after I get it setup. You might want to update this video because I could not get it to bind until I did the firmware upgrade. It's just like any other receiver have to upgrade.

Love this product. I was not using my sim because we have dogs and did not want them to run by and rip out the usb cord and mess up my machine... then I found this and now I am able to put in adequate sim time now without stressing. Thanks for the review!

Just been talking to FrSky, there are two versions of this dongle. FrSky: XSR-SIM doggle have FCC and LBT versions. Yes for the FCC version XSR-SIM to use with your Non EU Taranis.

I got one to help me fly in acro mode so I don't destroy my quad. It's a good job I got one with my awful flying. I think I need to practise more.

Betaflight allows to use FC as controller so you can add whatever receiver and have basically same thing. Tried this weekend. With partially busted FC and spare d8 receiver

Just type "se usb_hid_cdc = on" save, and you have it. But f1 and f3 FCs doesn't support that

I wonder what the reason was to use a more expensive receiver inside the unit? It would be nice if it was available without a receiver so we could put our own inside. Finally, find a use for those XM receivers...lol

The flashing is necessary if your radio is in EU-LBT and your dongle in FCC for exemple or the other way. I flashed it easily holding pins, no need to solder.

Aloha Albert, I don't even have a drone yet so I'm a sub-noob. I bought a Taranis X9D Plus and i hear so many stories about people having trouble binding with a dongle that I'm thinking I should connect to my computer via cable. Your thoughts?

anyone know how to save the bind to 2x different sim's ? I use Velocidrone but I also use Liftoff, the only way I can use this with both Sim's is to re-bind each time I change what sim I want to use

Is there a cheaper way to do this? I would think that there is some sort of usb/ppm dongle you could solder up to a $6 frsky RX.

Theres a way to plug any of your quads into the computer via USB and use your radio to control the flight sim via the receiver (I'm sure JB or drone mesh will have a video on it), best to use one that receiver gets powered by USB. You could also just use an old FC and receiver because I think you have to change a setting in Betaflight to do the sim thing and then change it back to fly the quad.

There are and have been lots of alternatives to this but they all require knowledge and some work. This dongle is simple plug and play and all you have to do is bind it to your transmitter. This one is not gonna be for the cheapskates or the DIY folks.

There is a quirk with this dongle. It seems that you have to set your transmitter using channels 5-8 in order for the channels to appear as 1-4 on the RealFlight simulator. That is the only way I have been able to make it work properly.

I just don't understand, I've tried everything to bind this to my x9d and it just beeps while the dongle flashes red. It just won't bind.

my dongle is yellow and made by frsky, it doesnt have instructions and im realy confused. i did what you said and it has a blue flashing light. when I enter BND in the rxnum it shows a menu with 4 options and idk what one to choose. i tried all of them and they all started beeping but the dongle stays the same. please help

One important note for any EU flyer buddy. If you have the EU LBT version, in order to bind it with the Radiomaster TX16s (or any controller I think) you must use the LBT(EU) RF protocol that you find under FrySkyX2 Mode. This was the only way I could get it to bind. Happy flying.

Yep, all the EU stuff is basically like a totally different protocol from another universe. They should just call everything EU, low power, no range version.
