I love using this tip... Cook what you have and don't buy until you've shopped your freezer and pantry. You'd be surprised how log you can go doing this without spending a penny. It is also helps no food to get out of date. No waste.

My frugal tip that someone shared with me, was to pay something extra on our mortgage before I went to bed each night. Even if it was only $1 ( and often it was), then that was a dollar that I never had to pay interest on again.

But I wonder really about the bank charges that incur on your daily payment plan, maybe you can do that once a week or two?
@hollyklein1737
@hollyklein1737 3 года назад
This was helpful. I often compare myself to colleagues that earn the same but drive a new BMW and have a 4 bed new build and I just wonder what I'm doing wrong. Never really thought that they just have a lot more debt and in reality their 5% deposit was the same as our 20% deposit etc. I also notice these people are the ones constantly doing overtime. For me it's more important to work less than to have a nice car.

I love that you brought that topic up! Because who decides what’s the wrong or the right way to spend money really? Also, why are these things that you mentioned the ”right” things to have? That’s just keeping up with the jones’s. We often get wrapped up in the lifestyle we are ”suppose” to have and collect debt because of it. If that’s the lifestyle and choices that they see fit that’s them and someone else may want to live in a smaller apartment saving up for a trip around the world. There’s no right and wrong there and that’s the most important thing to remember 😊👍

Frugal is such a great word! I’m married to someone who has no concept of saving or of looking for the best value for money when buying something. He wants it, he gets it. If he doesn’t have the money he goes on a charm offensive to convince me to get it. He also has no problem with getting rid of perfectly good (often brand new) purchases when he changes his mind about them. He would NEVER return something to the store. I am the opposite. I research items, I compare prices, I look for best prices. My car was 17 years old when I finally got rid of it. He was mortified at driving my old car lol! Now I have bought my father’s car, which works perfectly well, but my poor husband feels it’s just not good enough. He wants us to buy a new and shiny car on monthly payments (“it’s only £350 a month” he’ll say). But I bought my dad’s car outright for cash! No payments! What a gift! This is a constant issue for us. A coffee and a Kitkat every day adds up to £1,092 per year!! When that represents a month’s take home pay, it’s too much in my opinion. Well, you know they say opposites attract! 😂

My frugal tip is to buy reusable products rather than single use. I use reusable kitchen roll, makeup wipes, sandwich bags and face masks and it has definitely saved me money over time whilst also being better for the planet!

I think save on the big things. Homes, cars, vacations etc. we buy new cars but drive them till they die. My husband is driving a 99. Automate savings and investing. I don’t know if this translates well to the UK but save and invest 10-15 gross salary in a tax advantaged retirement account. Save 3-5 % for kids college from the time they are born. Buy low cost index funds and practice dollar cost averaging. Avoid single stocks. Pay credit cards off every month. Avoid debt like plague. Use sinking funds for emergencies and short term goals. Spend less than you earn. And don’t worry about what anyone else thinks. You do you.

My frugal tip is that I give myself and my husband an allowance of £50 each per month. It forces us to stop and think about purchases before we make them and being more thoughtful about what we truly want. Instead of spending it on takeaway coffees which really add up I choose to spend my allowance on things that give me joy. For me, it’s fashion and every month I can afford to buy a new piece.

If you get a Tesco club card, anything you buy outside of Tesco you get 1 point for every £8 you spend, in Tesco you get 1 point for every £1 Inc fuel, then if you pay with a Tesco credit card you get 1 point for every £4, when you use your points for Tesco partners it's trebled such as hotel.com IE £10 turns to £30, so we do this with every single thing for the whole year and you'd be shocked at what you can save, we had 7 nights in a spa hotel in Wales xx

I highly recommend reading ‘The top 10 distinctions between millionaires and the middle class’ by Keith Cameron Smith if you haven’t done so. Very interesting book, doesn’t take long to read as it’s not ‘fluffed out’ too much. It completely shifted my mindset on how I look at my money

Never shop hungry. Do an inventory. Shop by lists only. Always compare prices on medium and large purchases. Think over the purchase for 3-4 weeks. Is every purchase you make a real need or just a want? Save, pay bills, plan ahead then treat yourself.

Check the world food section. I got some branded veered Himalayan basmati rice- 66p for 1kg. The Tesco own brand was £1.60 for 1kg. I ended up buying 6 bags (6kg) for £3.96 and am planning on adapting meal plans for February to use it. January grocery and toiletries budget was £ 137.20 for the 4 of us and I’m hoping it will be similar next month too.

@LaraJoannaJarvis
@LaraJoannaJarvis 3 года назад
I do, right at the beginning it states it includes paid promotion which is compliant with asa guidelines. I hope you enjoyed it and got some value from it, thanks for watching.
@LaurenSmith-nc5hw
@LaurenSmith-nc5hw 3 года назад
@@LaraJoannaJarvis the ASA site states Viewers need to know they are selecting an ad to view/read before they engage with it, i.e. before they play, open or click on anything (Wahoo Fitness (UK) Ltd, 7 March 2018). Finding out something is an ad after having selected it, at the end of a video or half way through a piece of content will not be considered sufficient to comply with the Code. I didn’t and have not watched any of your videos fully where it feels I have to be counted as clicking on the video in order to see it’s an AD. Any clarity on this would be helpful.
@LaraJoannaJarvis
@LaraJoannaJarvis 3 года назад
That’s relevant when the whole video is sponsored, AD in the title would be required. As this is an integrated sponsorship, meaning only a part of the video is sponsored; in this case 90 seconds of a 16 minute video, the guidelines are different. I declare on screen at the start of the video in the bottom left to notify the viewer straightaway, verbally before the Ad actually starts & again on the screen when it begins. All of which are ASA compliant for an intergrated RU-vid advert. I choose very carefully which brands to work with and always make sure they are something that would benefit my audience, as you can see there has not been any kind of sponsorship here for about 20 videos so all of those are are “free” as it were, but for me to be able to make so much content every week I do need to partner with brands sometimes to make this possible so your support is welcomed but not expected, especially when I genuinely know the partnership will benefit my audience in some way. To say that you wouldn’t watch a video when there is an ad included feels alien to me as I would rather support creators so they can keep on making more content with value and information but I appreciate hearing your stance on it. Hope that answers your questions but feel free to ask if you need more answered.
@LaurenSmith-nc5hw
@LaurenSmith-nc5hw 3 года назад
@@LaraJoannaJarvis thank you for clarifying. Maybe I was not clear. I do support ad videos. I just turn off the second I think it’s not been made clear enough that what I’m watching is an ad. It would be impossible for someone to do as much content as yourself and work another job alongside so it’s not the ad that puts me off it was that I was under the belief it was not clear enough that it was an ad until I clicked the video.
