Tuna Cutlet Recipe
Canned tuna - 1
Potatoes - 1-2 depending on size
Onion - 1 medium
Ginger - a small chunk
Green chilli - 2 small ones
Curry leaves - 3-4
Salt - as needed
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Coriander powder - 1 tsp
Red chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
Rawa - 2 tbsp
Black pepper powder - 1/4 tsp
Egg - 1
Bread crumbs - as needed
Boil potatoes in water and cook them completely. Peel off the skin once it is safe to do so. Mash the potatoes slightly coarse.
Chop onion, ginger, green chillies, and curry leaves. Add chopped items to the mashed potatoes.
Add the canned tuna after removing oil/water from the can. Add in the turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder, black pepper powder, and semolina. Mix well with a spoon or by hand.
Shape the mixture into palm-sized balls and flatten it gently to form the cutlet shape. It takes practice to get it perfect. Mine’s not perfect.
Whisk an egg well. Get breadcrumbs onto a flat plate. Heat up oil (as needed to shallow fry) in a frying pan.
Coat cutlets one by one in the egg mixture first and then the breadcrumbs. Makes sure cutlets are well coated. Be gentle with it or else it might break apart.
Fry the cutlet in oil until both sides are fairly browned. And of course, you have to flip it in between.
