FSEconomy is a persistent online universe that generates passengers and cargo for you to fly in FSX, P3D, X-Plane, or MSFS. It has been around for years and has become complicated for beginners. In this video I walk you through a first flight: How to navigate the website, pick an airplane, an assignment, and LOTS OF TIPS to help avoid losing money on your first trip. I was new at FSEconomy not too long ago myself, so I am very aware of how overwhelming it can be, and I hope I have taught through my mistakes as well. I lost money a few times in FSEconomy due to not knowing certain tricks. Its a really fun system, but it is very complex, especially to a rookie.

Nicely presented video. Handy tips: don’t start the flight in the FSE Client until you are ready to taxi. You’re wasting rental charge while you do the start up, AP set up etc. You will earn monthly interest on the money you have in your bank account; but none in your cash account. I’ve found that the aeroplane stays rented if you are doing multiple legs, as long as you have assignments in your list. It won’t stay forever though.

Thanks for the additional tips. I tried to keep the tips to the ones truly necessary to stop from losing a fortune, like the distance bonus. I may do a separate video just to throw down additional tips.

VERY handy! Wished I read these words earlier ( I just lost $10,000+ :( ). My internet went off a couple of times, and I had to restart the flight twice. Now trying to start all over. Could you recommend a group please?

@@CaptNabs : Thanks for the video. I played it in the background, while trying to claw back the 'missing' $$$🙂 I got an ERJ 135 (a freeware aircraft), and I am doing a 6 Pax- Corporate Jet Hire job ( Durant Regional Airport to Jackson County Airport). Hopefully, that should net me $12,123. That should bring my balance back to a reasonable level, then I will go back to smaller shuttles 😎

I feel your pain. I have had flights nearly complete and then the internet or the computer fails, and back to square one. As far as groups, I don't have any good recommendations. Some friends and I have a personal airline where we pool some airplanes for fun flying. If you are looking for information about groups, my best suggestion is to visit the FSE forums and see what other people say. There are tons of groups, but I don't have much interest in them. I like my smaller group.

And yeah, the VIP Corporate hires are a quick key to making some money if you can get them done. Make sure you have a decent airplane. I am constantly using the MSFS King Air 350 to make money in $8000 or $9000 intervals.

Be patient. Apparently they have had 1000s of new applications in the last 2 weeks and there are less than 5 admins processing all of them.

@@nulvy4920 If there is 5 admins, and all of them processing 12 applications per day (or 1 per 2 hours 24/7) it`s gonna take around 16 days, and that`s if there is only 1000 applications. So, looks like it`s gonna take a while.

I just can't get my head around how much fuel you should add. The calculator at the bottom is confusing. Do I need to calculate weight and passengers or just passengers? Do I go for the amount of estimated fuel to my destination or go off the percentages based on number of passengers / weight of payload?

The fuel calculators in FSEconomy are meant to be guidelines and are not all that accurate. They allow you to quickly estimate 2 things: 1) Max fuel load based on your payload and 2) Min fuel load that should get you to your destination. The max fuel load option is very accurate. Fill in the # of pax and the weight of any cargo. You don't need to include pax weight in the cargo weight. That weight field is just for cargo. The minimum fuel calculator is based on distance but I frankly wouldn't trust that number. It is often too low and if you go with the minimum you will frequently run out of gas. Take as much fuel as you can under the max load or find a better flight planner. I recommend simbrief.com

How do you setup roundtrip assignments with the same plane?

There are no specific 'round trips' on FSEconomy. Every job is transporting something from point-to-point. However, you can create round trips by looking for a job or series of jobs and then also selecting assignments for the return trip Your best bet to find a return trip to the same airport is to look for the jobs that are coloured green. These are 'sponsored' or created by an FBO to a specific airport, and they will also very likely be generated in the reverse direction as well. You can select any number of green assignments, and they will automatically load when you start a flight from that airport. You can select the return ones as well and have them waiting for you. Another useful tool is on the airports page, under the assignments list, is a option called "SHOW ASSIGNMENTS [FROM] [AIRPORT] [GO]" If you change FROM to TO and click go, it will show you all inbound assignments to the airport you are currently looking at, which could also be helpful for hunting for return legs. cant get in server.fseconomy.net telling me that username and password are incorrect. so i try to click forgot password set my user name and email then tells me i have no account. so i try to make another account but i cant since im already logged on to fseconomy...

Are you using the same username password as you use for the forums? You have to create a gameworld account after your forum account. The gameworld account must be requested through the forums. Did you follow that step yet?

Capt Nabs yes essentially that’s it I can’t remember exactly, I did turn off my firewalls and virus protection but it still did not install correctly saying it can’t find the file ( or something to that effect

Alright. Let's see if we can figure it out. Which sim are you using and which client (SimConnect or FSUIPC)? And can you retry and cut and paste the exact error code and we'll see if we can track it down...

My first suggestion might be to start again. Uninstall the FSEconomy client and SimConnect. Reboot. Then try to install them one at a time. If any step fails, record the exact error message and we will take it from there.

I heard you start with $0 after your first time in fse, so how do you rent anything for 1st assignment if you got $0 on your account?

1) You can borrow money from the bank. 2) Your rental is charged on landing, so you can rent the aircraft and the money you make when you deliver is then used to pay the bills.

My first 2 suggestions would be... 1) Check your firewall. It may automatically block an obscure app like the FSE client. Try turning off the firewall for 2 minutes. See if the client can connect without the firewall. Then you know you have to adjust firewall settings. 2) Check the FSE website. FSE has suddenly exploded in popularity, and has periodic slowdowns due to heavy traffic. If the site is slow, that might be why you can't connect. Hope that helps.

How to start if you begin with no money at all? How do I rent?

I can't recall exactly if you start with $0, but even if you do, everyone has a $40,000 credit limit with their bank. So go to the banking screen, and click on the Cash button. This will start a transfer from your bank to your cash (your wallet). Type in what you think a rental will need. Say $5000. Then your bank balance goes into negative but you have cash to use. You will eventually pay interest on money borrowed, but it is calculated once a month or once a year I believe.

FSE is ok, but I think OnAir Airline Manager is better. Lots of additional features but can’t complain, FSE is free after all.

Hi Luke, I used OnAir around it's launch. Unfortunately, the lack of features at the time made it feel tedious to try and get anything done, and I could not even properly interact with other players. I hope they have implemented the promised features that were missing. Unfortunately, a simulation like OnAir benefits from lots of players, but I don't think they will ever really achieve a critical mass because their pricing structure is still a little high. FSE lacks new features, but since it is free, it has a critical mass of players to make such an online. If it were 30-40% cheaper, it would achieve a much greater success and reach the needed number of players to create the dynamic economic universe that FSE has achieved.

I can’t get the client to connect to the sim. Simconnect and fsuipc7 are installed. Anyone have this issue?

Good it connects to the server. Couple of things to check: 1) Ensure SimConnect installed correctly. Go to Installed Programs in Windows and make sure SimConnect is in your list. 2) Make sure the settings in the FSE Client are correct. The connection should be remote computer and then use the address 127.0.0.1. Make sure the port is 500.

No. FSEconomy requires a companion utility to run. Given that everything is run by volunteers, someone would have to make the effort to develop a version that works on xbox. I dont know if anyone believes the xbox market would have enough long-term users. Most xbox players have short attention spans. ;)

Can you not Own your own Aircraft and fly all over the country picking up flights as you go?

Yes you can. However, first you have to save enough $ to buy a plane. Then you have to find one for sale that is the same as a type in your sim. Then you are reponsible for all fees for the plane, including fuel, regular maintenance, and the monthly maintenance fee (think insurance payments). Monthly feea are incurred even with zero flying, so be sure you fly enough/earn enough to cover them. I'll be making a video on aircraft ownership in the next week or so.

Yeah too bad. I come from older simulator with around 6500 hours in flight and just hate to start over with nothing. I normally flew the flight 1 king air 200 and Eaglesoft Citation X around the world twice and iFlys 737 fleet.

FSEconomy supports a wide array of sims, right back to FS2002 (through FSUIPC). So brush off the King Air and Citation. They are still totally useable. Your account does not care which sim you fly in. Thats one of the great things abour FSE. It supports a huge array of sims and aircraft.

Yes you can because you are only charged for an aircraft rental when a flight is done. The trick is to make sure you earn more money than the rental costs.

If you are starting out, you start with zero. But you don't have to pay for an airplane rental until the flight is complete so you can rent an airplane to earn money. You get paid and the rental fee is deducted at the same moment when the flight is completed.
