FT-86 SpeedFactory - Raceseng Cam Plate Install

It sat all night, I drove to soccer this morning and when I got home I opened hood and could see smoke under the cam plate and smell oil. So it’s leaking. I only used gasket seal on the rings section. Do you think it hurt the design? Thinking of how oil filters work and you rub the rim with oil then put it on vs pushing this into some gasket sealer. I’ll pull it off again today and see where the oil is coming out. I was truly hoping this was going to fix it. Does the rubber ring fit around the hole perfectly when you put the bolts back in? I am working from above the engine and can’t see how the ring fits around the hole.

I’m going to pull it off and put a thin seal around the gasket and not crank it down very tight.

Toy GT86 me too looking for a solution brought me here , am surprised by what I found

because it forms a seal i think they would just rather know the ring is wet rather than dry, if the seal is good oil practically shouldn't touch the ring from the engine it probably just makes the ring last longer because its not dry

Actually DON'T do that. I did and mine started leaking again. The problem was putting oil under it caused oil to seep in and replace the oil already there. It's a tiny leak so you may not notice (not even enough to drip on the manifold and make a burning smell, like the OEM plate). It also seemed to allow the rubber to move around slightly with vibration and after a while it damaged it. You want it as clean and dry as possible as you WANT it to bind, normally o-rings get replaced when they are taken off.

It provides a better seal since that is where the two rings meet.

As I recently found out, it still leaks without the RTV. You may not need it at the top but you do at the bottom as there is a hairline gap which allows oil caught there to slowly seep out :/ If you look closely there is a rubber seal inside the tunnel which doesn't quite reach the back of the plate. That is where oil is getting out. I basically just filled that in with RTV.

Nothing to do really besides replace whatever seal is leaking bro. If you cant locate it yourself try to see if a subaru tech can pen point it, and tell you what needs to be replaced.

They do. Wouldn't have half the issues if it was a Toyota.

Take it on DIY garage, lift it up and take a good look. Then look from what part leaking is comming from.
