We currently have everything done and in stock for the articulating assemblies in the new IRS. This covers all of the control arms, the toe links and the knuckle. That was the first phase of our program. We are now working on the subframe and diff mounts which is the second phase of the project. We hope to have these parts done before the end of Summer. Once we have all of the parts done, they will all be installed in the car and 'after' videos will be recorded at that time. We appreciate everyone's patience. We can assure you, the parts will be worth the wait.
Yes we also were surprised in the amount of movement in everything in this new IRS. We attribute this to the new higher NVH requirements the new cars are subject to. This means softer and more compliant rubber bushings. This is good for NVH, but bad for performance, handling, control arm deflection and suspension efficiency in general. It's kind of hard to compare this IRS to the SN-95 IRS because the two are so different. However, they both need a lot of work to bring them up to the standards many of us strive for. We've decided to tackle this IRS in two stages. The first stage being the suspension components. This includes, the upper and lower control arms, the soft rubber bushing in the knuckle, the vertical link and the toe link. These will be the easiest parts to change and we wanted to make sure we covered all of them first. We hope to have all of these parts available by Mid April, 2015. In the second stage, we will be addressing the subframe bushings and the differential mounting bushings. This will require the removal of the IRS subframe from the chassis. We will be working on that very soon. We already have some great ideas. Stay tuned.
