I was also gonna buy one with a design on it but I don’t got the budget for a $30 zippo maybe in the future. At least I’ll die before this zippo breaks on me

I ordered a 902 Zorro brass lighter. It lights up 1 click under all windy conditions. It's an incredible brass lighter! I love this,!

@@MasterSorenXD That's a silly way to think of it. All designs exist on a spectrum from "barely functioning garbage" to "impossible perfection." We all strive to move from one end toward the other. Zippo's just been sleeping on the journey for a while, and if they feel like catching up to foreigners, they'll end up passing a lot of the same streets and landmarks the competitors did long ago. There's a difference between obsessive fixation and staying true to tradition that someone at Zippo either can't understand, or is too scared to.

How's the fit in the 912? I have a couple 912 zorros I originally bought to put zippo butane inserts in, but it's just far too loose to use at all (falls right out). Just bought the steam-punky one and should get it in a couple months. From the video, it looks like they fit well into regular zippo cases as the butane inserts do, soI'm afraid that they'll be too loose in the 912 as well.

@@bobdinkytown It fits loose, but I just put a piece of credit card or something in the case to keep it from being loose. It fits a regular Zippo insert perfectly though. Putting the Zorro metal gasket into a Zippo Classic is perfect though, fits better than the original insert in some cases since it is a tight fit and doesn't ride up often. It pairs well with the Zippo fuel canister so I can just leave it empty unless I need a windproof lighter.

Can you at least take the brass bottom off the one Zorro and replace the rubber bottom seal on the Zorro with the chimney cap that opens with the lid?

No. The first obstacle is that, if you put it into a Zippo, the spring cannot be screwed in properly because the Zippo's flint tube and the opening in the Zorro's metal plate are not compatible. You can solve that problem by drilling out the opening in the plate until it sits comfortably on the flint tube, but then you have a new problem: The metal plate will bury itself in the packing once you tighten the screw.

For anyone that is wondering you get them from aliexpress, they are also made by zorro, I wasnt aware that this channel was no longer active due to hackers. Just thought I would post a reply here for anyone that was wondering the same thing.

Think I'm willing to spend more than what you would recommended as getting new, store brought Zippos in the UK already is expensive, yet alone one from that time, but I wont stray too far from a reasonable price.

I definitely wouldn't carry the one with the plastic cap on the bottom because it will seep fluid sooner or later once the plastic has deteriorated enough. The second one might spill, too, one day. It is unclear if there is a rubber washer between the bottom plate and the cotton wool. If the mechanism depends on a rubber washer, that one, too, will deteriorate. Also, the outer casing with the flip top actually serves a purpose, in addition to looking cool: It protects the lighter. The brass and aluminum chimneys might end up bent if you keep that "skeleton" lighter in your pocket with change, keys, etc -- the chimney caps work well enough to extinguish the lighter but does not provide much protection. The wheel will also collect dust and whatsoever if it isn't covered. Lighters that have a chimney cap instead of a flip lid, like those old IMCO Austria lighters, have the wheel hidden inside and it's put into motion once you push on the button that opens the chimney. Unfortunately, the company doesn't exist anymore. I think I smoke enough for evaporation not being a true concern, but I know there are people who want a utility lighter, and for those, the way a Zippo seals (or doesn't seal) will be a bummer.

What you said about the metal gasket is absolutely true. You can drill it out so it fits over the Zippo's flint tube, but then it sits too deep, and because nothing holds the bolt in place, loopy as well. If you leave the insert as it is, it works, but it is more or less an IMCO in a Zippo shell. I think putting the cam with the cap from the other insert on a Zippo is not a good idea, either, because lighters with snuffer caps are meant to be used with soft (no copper wire) wicks, not the kind you should use for a Zippo. IMCOs, Ronson Whirlwinds and the like all have a short, fluffy wick so that it cannot be flattened when the snuffer cap comes down. Also, a wire wick might push the snuffer cap a bit up, which means more evaporation, even with a cap. The Zippo, on the other hand, uses a tall wick reinforced with wire so it stands upright in the chimney -- that way, it is virtually impossible to blow it out from the side. Fluid lighters with a (well-fitting) cap and the right type of wick are more economical, but the Zippo design results in a much more wind-resistent flame.
