If you don't have the zip tie tool you can hand tighten them and use toe nail clippers to flush cut them. Toe nail clippers don't leave sharp edges to cut yourself on.
Very good Jeremy!! That's the filter we use except we buy them from Rotary, part number 10352. We put them on every riding mower that we do a fuel related repair on. BTW now I'm gonna have to buy a zip tie tool because my wife is the zip tie master Lol. Now she is gonna want that tool. Thanks a lot Lol
Great video! I was looking for a video that addressed this issue. I bought a used Simplicity Regent riding mower with a 16 HP Kohler motor. It is an older mower, but very clean and in good shape. When I was mowing, it would cough a couple of times, but it kept running. Finally, after I used it for about six 1 hour mowing sessions, it kept coughing to the point where I had to put it away and use my big tractor to finish the mowing. I looked at the engine and the arrow on the fuel filter was pointing back toward the gas tank which didn't seem right. I ordered a new Kohler fuel filter, took the old one off, installed the new one with the arrow pointed toward the carburetor. I started it and did all of my mowing (1 hour) with no coughing or sputtering. Your video confirmed my suspicions that the filter was on backwards. Thank you !
I am impressed. Somebody else besides me uses a ziptie gun. I don't use zip ties on fuel lines but i do on lots of bn other things. Another benefit of the gun is that it doesn't leave razor sharp points on the cut ends. If you have ever reached ito a wiring rack where the installer used side cutters you will know what i mean. I have the scars and the T shirt.
I was reluctant to get one of those tools, thinking it was a waste of money for a gimmick. But no, it's been most useful especially in tight spaces where you can't get to with two hands and pliers, and then have to snip the end. What I didn't know that you taught me was that it applies a given, correct torque! Yabbadabba! I have a zip-tie torque tool!
Just changed the fuel filter with the same clear filter as this video. Is it "normal" for the filter to be half full of fuel and the other half air? The zero turn mower has a fuel pump and the tank is full. The mower runs perfectly well. I forgot to check if the old filter was full.
You should be able to cut it off both sides then reinstall the new filter, unless for some reason the fuel line is to short, which I don't ever seem to have a problem with.
I had got some fuel filters from Amazon, there was no arrow showing the direction of flow , but I figured it by the way the original one was on , just to let you know can easily make a mistake
Ever seen this issue and what may cause it- MTD older rider. Gas tank sits in front of steering wheel. Hose comes down and around to filter then carb. I had put new lines and carb on rider last year. Flushed tank etc when I brought it used. Changed the filter which had a round red one on it. Got a Briggs clear see through gas filter. Hooked it up right. I also installed a shut off before filter. Each time I am done mowing I shut off the valve and run gas out carb till dies. Now for a good while the filter had gas filled in it when mower ran. I see my past 3 mowings when mower is running no gas in filter. None-0. Shut off valve is fully open. Oddly mower runs fine? How is it mower is running 1+ hrs and not a drop of gas is in filter? Side note- I now have a new ( same type ) filter on. I get same issue.
@@THEMOWERMEDIC1 thanks for input/info. That is about the only thing came to my mind as well. So run it and all good. Least I don't have no leaks ha ha. I say that because I use 90 oct no eth in all my stuff. At that price I want to account for every drop.
Do the red and white briggs type of filters have a flow direction. I believe I took one apart before to see the difference inside and one side of the filter had a little bit more space for debris to collect.

I swear the ID of my new fuel line 1/4 won't fit on the barb of my 775ex briggs carb or gas tank. The fuel line fits on the fuel filter, but not the carb or gas tank. And the old fuel line leaks when put on new fuel filter.
Here's a question, I understand B&S tell you to use red filter if it's gravity fed and another type if the engine has fuel pump. Can you run those fiber type fuel filters with a gravity fuel system?
I was hoping you would show how to put them on if there is NO ARROW to be seen - but you did not. Your arrow I can see well. I looked at a new bag of ten filters - no arrow anywhere. Two other people looked with magnifying lamp - no arrow.

Hi I was just wondering about the business end of your shop. Do you charge by the actual time spent on a piece of equipment or do you go by a flat rate manual?
You hook up the fuel filter correctly the transparent case will allow you to see the dirt accumulation, so you can determine to change this filter.. Hooked up the wrong way your filter can get plugged before you visually see it should be changed.
